SOP Tips #1

For those who haven't started with SOPs. This may be helpful for you..

1) pls don't go on to refer SOPs available online and make yours from it. It is highly likely that the sop might have been referred by 1000 others and they might have inturn used them. You can may be read one or two to get a general outline on how to proceed with it..

2) when you making your first sop, don't try referring to university sites for their sop needs.. they mention guideline on what they expect. It's not compulsory that we should express them explicitly..

3) the only things that you should have in mind when you are drafting your preliminary sop is a) what makes you stand out in a crowd of 1000 other applicants.
b) where do you see ourself 10 years ahead..you can be frank with it. There is no point in going to an university which doesn't match your career or professional goals.

4) Don't go.on to boast about your extracurricular unless it's in some international technical events or national sports events.. just try to limit it within 100 words..

5) what have you gained from your research experience part.. you can go on to mention you gained nothing..and justify it..
Just don't try to write outcomes which you haven't even thought of.when you were doing that project.

6) Be clear about the specialization you are gonna take and what you are gonna do in it. Just don't say you like to work under so and so person because it matches your interest or you liked it..
Just bring in an example of you interest and then say hence the following faculty which does research in that field seems a perfect guide for my future studies..
It should be like my plans are clear & hence this faculty and  not the other way round..
