Firauni History

The Firauni are an ancient civilization, at least fifty thousand years old, and most of those years they have been technologically capable and advanced; To put it in comparison, they were interstellar before humans began to farm.
Over these years, they have created a massive empire, based from their home planet, Firaun. They observed other civilizations developing, and many things. They are the basis of the Dragons in Earth mythology. Their technology was advanced beyond compare, their society was stable, and all was fine.

Of their society, they are a parliamentary monarchy, with a strong military importance. They are Matriarchal, crowning queens rather than kings. The admiral of the fleet has near equal power to the Empress. They were inherently xenophobic in their early youth, fighting among the various races, etc. The ability to traverse the stars brought them other challeneges, and eventually humbled them, as they realized they were all one species, and not alone.

Their empire spanned half their known universe, communication made simple with the Hypercom, a method of instantaneous communication. Many races bore their banner, and all lived in peace. The military hardly had to deal with more than pirates, and often was sent to explore, the warships being mandated to have peacetime use as well.

In what would be labeled Stardate -17, the Firauni civlization erupted into chaos, a civil war over some pointless social something. It began in the small political forums, and snowballed until the society was being torn apart. This culminated in the Destruction, during Stardate -12, when a group of rioters stormed planetary MDG (Missile Defense Grid) station, and held it hostage for several days. It was never returned, as a missile was fired, and obliterated the planet's main power tap, the Core Harness, geothermal to an extreme, and some usage of the gravity of the planet in ways that are difficult to make up explanations for. It blew the planet to pieces. Over the next few millenia, the holdings of their Empire slowly learned of what happened, and had their own downfalls, stagnating, blinking out, etc. Expedited by the Reaver menace, which had more far-reaching implications than any human had known, by the time humans began to return to space, the Firauni were very few and far between. They began to group into cells, and one of those cells, led by the sole remaining of the Imperial Bloodline, Princess Alexis Longtail, decided to colonize a desert planet out past Tartarus, (or possibly not it i haven't checked coords yet), naming it Spero, after a word gleaned from an archaic Human language, meaning "Hope." Their first order of business was to contruct a hypercom, and began broadcasting in all directions to any Firauni out there.
