  4.
  5. Sometimes, users who use the Racing+ desktop client get this error message:
  6.
  7. Error: Failed to parse the "C:\program files (x86)\steam\userdata\[steam_id]\config\localconfig.vdf" file: SyntaxError: VDF.parse: invalid syntax on line [line_number]
  8.
  9. The "localconfig.vdf" file contains local Steam configuration data, such as your friends list, Steam groups that you are in, and so forth. This error message usually means that the VDF parser choked on a special character in the file, which is common for non-English speaking people.
  10.
  11. First, try this:
  12. 1) Record the path to the "localconfig.vdf" file contained in the error message.
  13. 2) Close the Racing+ client.
  14. 3) Close Steam entirely.
  15. 4) Delete the "localconfig.pdf" file.
  16. 5) Open Steam.
  17. 6) Try running the Racing+ client again.
  18.
  19. By deleting the file and reopening Steam, it will re-create the file from scratch, which might solve the issue.
