When the village is attacked again and Masa witnesses the destruction of his homeland, he escapes with Beatrice, leaving his mother and father behind and sets out to join the Lyrian military in search of answers.

-Bio: born into a wealthy family of Lyrian nobles, her Kahinonan father took her and her mother to the island as a teenager, where she chose to settle down in pursuit of literature and magic. She fell in love with Masa and they married, albeit at the behest of Masa's father- her overly timid personality worried the royals. When the island was attacked, she escaped with Masa, leaving her parents behind and only taking her mother's magic staff as a family heirloom. Out of grief over her parents, she opens the Portal to the Afterlife, where Mara inhabits her body and attempts to guide her after the one who attacked Tung-Mei seven hundred years ago to stop the total destruction of Lyria. With Mara possessing her body, Beatrice gains incredible healing powers, the ability to reanimate the dead, and control over the shadows, at the cost of her body being covered in purple markings.

-Bio: The princess of Honshu during the time of the War of Worlds, Mara was captured and beheaded during the war. After her mother opened the Portal to the Afterlife, she was called to serve as Tung-Mei's immortal emissary along with her mother. Seven hundred years later, when Beatrice opens the Portal, she chooses to be the one to inhabit her body and guide her to the one who attacked them. However, the language barrier between the two poses many difficulties.

-Gender: female by birth
-Bio: Queen of Honshu during the War of Worlds, Lia is a proud, stubborn queen who takes great pride in her commanding ability and royal presence. When her daughter is captured and beheaded, she is filled with grief and, out of sheer anger, opens the portal and confronts Tung-Mei. The goddess, angered by her transgression, curses her into being an immortal emissary, like her daughter.

-Bio: Goddess of the afterlife, Tung-Mei assumed a human form out of a desire to rule some six thousand years ago, and united many warring tribes under the banner of the nation of Honshu. Under her rule, the people enjoyed plentiful harvests and military gains, and once her human form started to decay, she passed rule down onto her human daughter and ascended back to the Gates. However, crops failed under the new queen's rule, and so the people of Honshu turned on her, beheading the queen and greatly angering Tung-Mei. As so, she turned her back on the people, and vowed to strike an immortal curse on anyone who dared transgress into her realm. She is known as the Highest Sorceress, a bearer of immense magical power that defies the laws of life and death. Part of this power is transferred into both Lia and Mara once she chooses them to be her immortal emissaries, and thus, Beatrice inherits part of Tung-Mei's magical abilities upon being possessed. Shortly after the war, a hooded man bearing the Godslayer, Tung-Mei's holy weapon as a human, opens the Portal and gravely wounds the goddess, stealing a portion of her power. Afterwards, the three await another human to open the Portal and pray they have a good heart, so they can send Mara to possess the human and guide her towards Tung-Mei's assailant.

-CALLUM TARKOVSKY-

-Gender: female by birth
-Bio: Callum grew up in Dragnelli slums, and her parents were both war veterans who left their daughter alone for long periods of time, and when they would return home, would take their rage out on Callum at being drafted into border wars they didn't want to fight. In her teenage years, Callum met Lucas one day while digging through dumpsters, and he promised her a better life as part of a mysterious group he was a part of, known as the Plague Covenant. She eventually learned about the history of the Mother superweapon, and grew obsessed with wielding its powers for herself. Seeing the power in this, the leader of the Covenant assigned Lucas and Callum special missions to recover the documents detailing how to create the mother. During these missions, she clashes with Masa and Beatrice numerous times, who question Callum not only in combat, but over her own ideals and dreams. Drive, wittyn, and excelling in combat, Callum wields a pair of kamas and loves to reminisce about her dreams of being a mother and a hair stylist, as noted by her well-maintained two-toned blue and purple hair.

-Bio: Prince of Ranna during the War of Worlds, Zereas is outraged when the war draws in a ceasefire, as he wanted nothing more than the total destruction of Lyria. He journeys to Honshu and steals the Godslayer, then opens the Portal and attacks Tung-Mei. He escapes with a portion of her power, and waits seven hundred years as it manifests within his own body. During this time, he founds the Plague Covenant with two main goals: locate, obtain, and destroy the Volcano Bangles, the only roadblock to his power, and to find and recreate the Mother superweapon as a failsafe if the Bangles cannot be obtained. His goal is to destroy the entirety of Lyria and establish himself as the undying king of Ranna, and lead the country through a time of tyranny and militaristic expansion.

-LUCAS TARKOVSKY-
-Age: 27

-Gender: male by birth
-Bio: Born to a military father, Lucas never knew his mother, and spent much of his early years studying firearms and traveling around with his father. When his father was killed in a border skirmish, he joins up with Zereas after the man scouts his combat abilities, and dispatches him on missions as part of the team that sought out the Mother. During one of these such missions, he meets a disheveled girl named Callum, and invites her to join him as part of the Covenant. She accepts, and the two later marry. He wields a gunsword and several smaller sidearms, and is known for his humorous yet deadly serious demeanor that meshes well with Callum's.

-EVIDITH HAILVERN-
-Age: 27
-Ethnicity: Lyrian
-Gender: female by birth
-Bio: Brigadier General Evidith is known far and wide throughout Lyria for her jaw-dropping combat skills, combining her modified form of water magic with her flawless archery to become a living menace on the battlefield. However, she becomes gravely ill in her late twenties, and becomes infertile as a result, destroying her dreams of one day bearing children. She focuses her energy more fervently into her military duties, and one day recieves word via scouts of a laboratory in southern Ranna conducting experiments to recreate the Mother. Bow in hand, she treks solo to the Laboratory and finds it devoid of life, except for one small girl left to die, whose body is in a state of robotic decay. She brings the girl back to military headquarters and decides to raise her as her own. She names the girl June, and angered by the cries her daughter makes during her sleep, uses her military authority to create the Covert Ambassadors, a group with the sole focus on setting out on missions into Ranna and uncovering the mysteries surround the enigmatic group trying to resurrect the Mother.

-JUNE HAILVERN-

-Bio: An orphan roaming the streets of the port city of Sinsin, June is rounded up one day along with other homeless girls and sold off to a testing company. There, she is subjected to horrific body mutilation experiments to fuse her human body with mechanical artifices, as part of the Mother project. When none of the test subjects yield success, the laboratory is closed down and abandoned, with the remaining living test subjects being left to die. When Evidith arrives at the laboratory, she finds only June still alive, barely clinging to life through cannibalism and sheer force of will. June is taken back to military HQ and upon recovering her strength, joins the CA's in pursuit of those who destroyed her human form.

-LEON ABUDAYA-
-Age: 23
-Ethnicity: Tribal Lyrian
-Gender: male by birth
-Bio: A shaman for his tribe in southern Lyria, Leon becomes frustrated by the constant clashes with neighboring tribes, and sets off with his brother one day to join the Lyrian military and come back with the strength to ensure the safety of his village. His impressive medical skills catch the eye of Evidith, who invites him and his brother to join the CA's. Very carefree and laid-back, he wields a shield and staff that allow him to defend while also healing.

-MAGNUS ABUDAYA-

-Ethnicity: Tribal Lyrian
-Gender: male by birth
-Bio: A swordsman for his tribe in southern Lyria, Magnus grudgingly agrees to accompany his brother on his quest to join the Lyrian military. He wields a sword of pure bone and several smaller bone-metal daggers, and quickly impresses Evidith who, along with his brother, invites him to join the CA's. He is astute and serious, and has a keen eye for sensing danger where others may not.

-ASTRALIS SKYLARK-
-Age: 19
-Ethnicity: Lyrian
-Gender: female by birth
-Bio: Born to a family of butchers, Astralis suffered sexual trauma from a young age due to her older brother's friends preying on her due to a desire for her body, and as such she grew to be deeply distrustful of people at large. At the age of 17, she fleed her home and signed up at a prestigious culinary academy, impressing the interviewers with her skills and knowledge. Two years later, when the academy was attacked, she was filled with grief about the loss of her friends and professors. She changed her name to Giblet, the nickname given to her during her first semester at the academy, and without a home to return to where she could feel safe, she joined the military. She caught the eye of Evidith with her incredible speed and fighting skill with her dual cleavers, and Evidith invited her to join the CA's, where she tags along with the others to find out the truth about the purple-robed cultists who attacked the academy. She's a quiet girl, but loves to cook and care for her friends. She isn't good about concealing her evident crush on Beatrice, despite the princess being six years her senior.
