  1. ====[And Open Letter To Memebers Of The CPA Community]====
  2. (Note: This doesn't apply to 15% of you - if you are one of the 15% you may disregard this message)
  3. Dear members of the CPA community,
  4.
  5. I'd like to take the time to let you know how this industry works:
  6. * You pick a niche
  7. * You target your traffic
  8. * You push the aforementioned traffic to the lander
  9. * You optimize
  10.
  11. Now, what you DON'T do is:
  12. * Beg for traffic
  13. * "JV" with everyone to maximize profits
  14. * Scam your fellow publishers
  15.
  16. What I've seen time and time again is the following:
  17. * Idiot publisher (with no traffic/niche) finds a programmer to "JV" with
  18. * Idiot publisher convinces unsuspecting programmer to supply a script, host it on idiot publishers' server, and spin "50-50" with him.
  19. * Once the idiot publisher has the script, if the programmer is lucky, he finds a source of traffic and does a DOUBLE JV with the programmer and traffic source. This kind of middle-manning is bullshit and shouldn't occur.
  20. * The "JV" goes good until the programmer realizes that they are being fucked over by the idiot publisher.
  21.
  22. Why is this wrong? Well, first of all it's a scummy setup. There are WAY too many "publishers" who make their money by using the formula above, when they actually have very little marketing experience at all.
  23. Just because a publisher makes a quick $3k a day on Facebook doesn't mean they are a guru. Some of the top earners on CPAlead are the biggest idiots you will ever meet - seriously, they can't even FTP into their sites and change a lander headline.
  24.
  25.
  26. "But *name here*, if I don't make money by being a middleman faggot, how will I feed my fat girlfriend?". It's simple - learn how to market and don't spend your days spamming Facebook. It won't be around forever and to be honest it's not even a very good source of money.
  27. With a little research and hard work you can EASILY make upwards of $5k a day - and get this - IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE FROM CPA OFFERS! Mind = blown, huh? Who knew that there were other offer types on the internet?
  28.
  29. So why don't you experiment a little?
  30.
  31. Do some research on CPM, CPC, and PPI. Don't limit yourself to forcing users to complete an offer in order to see content. It's only worthwhile if your website has GOOD content, which (in this industry) is a rare thing.
  32.
  33. "But *name here*, do you have any idea what I should do?" - yes, yes I do. Man the fuck up and think for yourself. Marketing is NOT a role playing game. You can't ask other players for some gold so you can get new armor. It's a thriving business industry that is constantly being tainted by anglo-indian scumfucks that kill and saturate the market for EVERYTHING.
  34.
  35. I'll be nice and give you a few free LONG TERM ideas that require little to no skill to get started:
  36. * E-Book site
  37. * These are easy to start - just setup a CMS/blog like Wordpress, Habari, Joomla, etc. (Make sure the ebooks aren't copyrighted)
  38. * Movie site
  39. * Scrape IMDB for titles/trailers/etc then when the user clicks "Watch now", redirect to a movie affiliate (like Netflix - available through Google Affiliate Network). Alot of scripts are readily available for this.
  40. * Reseller Hosting
  41. * Although this isn't really marketing per-say, getting recurring payments from users is awesome.
  42. * Mobile Applications
  43. * I've personally had great success in this field. Create a network of mindless time-wasting mobile applications for Android, i*OS, and Blackberry devices. Have Google mobile ads on them (or something better if you find it) or charge the user UNDER $1.00(USD). Examples:
  44. * TV/Movie quizzes - place ads near the "Answer" buttons to get some shady CPC clicks.
  45. * Simple HTML5/Flash/Java puzzle game - same as above. Most mobile ad clicks are by accident.
  46. * Something innovative that has to do with the devices functionality - perhaps a cool camera filter, panorama maker, multi-color flashlight, etc.
  47.
  48. I think you guys get the point I'm trying to make. While Facebook is a great source of new and viral traffic, it isn't the only thing out there. When used correctly (in a whitehat fashion) the Facebook API and social plugins are AMAZING. Try a quiz app, simple game, or a time waster.
  49.
  50. I suppose I covered most of what I wanted to say - oh, except perhaps the most important one.
  51.
  52. PAY FOR YOUR SOFTWARE YOU CHEAP BASTARDS. Seriously. Don't go around ripping scripts - help the global economy and pay a developer to do it for you. You might find that they might be a little more loyal to you if you treat them right.
  53.
  54. Remember: Developers don't need you. They can easily market for themselves. Keep them close and kiss their asses.
  55.
  56. Thanks for reading.
