  1. Czernothorians are often stereotyped as a bunch of suicidal dimwits who have no fear of death, but to them, it is others that misunderstand death. Like many other things, they view death itself as a challenge. When it beckons, you either cheat death through sheer force of will or you fight to the cold, bitter end and die a death doing something glorious. To give in to fear and pain through surrender or suicide is the worst fate a Czernothrian can imagine, to quote a proverb "One walks the path to glory and righteousness on their feet, not their knees". It comes as no surprise that the monsterwomen in Czernothor are based off of hardy-beasts and resilient workers like bearwomen, wolfwomen, and kikimoras. Even their kings and queens, known as jarls, are all required to have served in the military in combat roles and have had a few exceptional accomplishments. To say nothing of the Czar, the grand leader of all of Czernothor, who is chosen from many different noble bloodlines and is elected not only by their skill as a leader, but their combat prowess.

  3. Despite their reputation for physical strength and toughness, Czernothor is home to a fair few magical but physically frail monsterwomen such as elves, and has made many strides in the arcane, specifically black magic and necromancy. Historically, necromancy was often seen as a way to keep the population of workers and soldiers up during times when famines, war, and storms would wrack the population. As such, while necromancy is elsewhere met with anywhere from cautious acceptance to roughly the same treatment as the other fields of magic, it is commonplace and considered a cultural pillar of Czernothor. While regulated such that you cannot raise another person without permission nor can you use them to replace actual workers, necromancy is often applied to situations Even lichdom is seen as simply being able to cheat death through magical means, hence why, though still not common, liches are far from unheard of among the ranks of Czernothor's warlocks and are often respected as "wise men/women". Most spend their days researching magic, taking on students, consulting jarls, and protecting the local populace from underground, inverted towers made from frozen ground, old fossilized bones, and mysterious arcane machinations. Their role as protectors, wise men, advisors to jarls, and their living underground has earned them the name Korolnizhe (simply "under-king").
