- - As usual, there's some random variation in your stat gains, but you'll
- always end up close to these figures (especially with HP and MP).
- - Int: Sophia: 1150. Adray: 925.
- - Stamina: Cliff/Roger: 400. Fayt/Albel/Adray: 285. Mirage: 250. Nel/
- Peppita/Sophia/Maria: 150.
- - Stuff like movement speed and casting time are of course not affected
- by level.
- - a: acceleration. Flnc: flinching time (in seconds).
- - The time shown in brackets in Healing is the time it takes for the
- spell to hit the target.
- - Maria can move about 40-50% faster by sidestepping compared to normal,
- default speed movement (faster on even ground). Sidestepping is unaffected
- by auto-abilities, so even with Movement rate +30%, sidestepping is
- still 8-15% faster. At that point, though, the difference is fairly small,
- so it's not worth it if you have to spend time changing your direction.
- - Roger can move about 40-50% faster by backhopping and 20% faster by
- sidestepping (in cardinal directions).

- ---------------------
- - A quick recap of some key points:
- - Enabling Berserk gives the character the following multipliers:
- 1,3x physical HP damage, 0,7x DFP, 0,5x Fury consumption.
- - No Guard (5 CP) is essential.
- - Berserk is virtually required for the AI to pull off decent chains
- due to their disregard for Fury management.
- - Fury use -x (4 max) applies after the Berserk Fury multiplier.
- Reduced Fury cost is often required for triple chains.
- - Minimum Fury cost is 1.
- - Decimals are used in Fury calculations (eg. 5/2 indeed becomes 2,5).
- - At Attack Lv10, the AI will always chain a move if it hits and,
- conversely, never chain a move if it doesn't hit.
- - The AI can't really chain Charge or Aerial (they *can*, but not with
- any consistency).
- - Don't try to MP kill enemies too indiscriminately. While most normal
- enemies in Disc 1 and Disc 2 post-game are faster to MP kill, HP damage
- is still more consistently reliable, and most of the best moves only
- deal HP damage.
- - Elemental attacks should not be used indiscriminately. If you can't
- be bothered to keep track of enemy resistances, just don't use any.
- - Charge, Aerial, Lightning Blast, Earth Glaive, Efreet and Southern
- Cross are SR only.
- - hp/mp: low damage | hP/mP: medium damage | HP/MP: high damage
- - The time values indicate the total duration of the move followed in
- brackets by the duration of the move when canceled at the earliest
- opportunity. Likewise, hit counts may be followed in brackets by the
- number of hits when the move is canceled at the earliest point.
- - The time values are without any impact freeze, but in practice,
- there's no way to avoid it,
- - If you feel like checking some values yourself, here are some DFP
- figures: Magma Man: 10, Post-Sphere Sanmite Steppe enemies: 80,
- Yuan-ti b: 78, Killer Tarantula: 70, Death Mantis: 208.

- Charge | Def | 5% | 20/42 | 4 | 1,5 | HP mP
- 1,5x HP, 0,1x MP, 1,0s (0,6s). Pretty good, but you probably won't be
- using it much, since you can easily build up to Lv50+ on Disc 2.
- Aerial | Def | 5% | 20/42 | 2 | 1,5 | hP mP
- 1,2x HP, 0,08x MP, 1,6s (1,1s), 2 hits, float. Only hits flying / large
- enemies (as is the case with most Aerials). May be needed in a No Guard
- setup.
- Sphere of Might | Def | 6% | 15/35 | 4 | 1,5 | hP
- 0,42x -> 0,6x, 4 hits (2). 2,4s (1,1s).
- Decent skip cancel fodder (if you can actually get a hang of the timing).
- As regular cancel fodder, it's not great, but there isn't really anything
- better. For enemies with force resistance, CL is a better choice (whether
- you're skipping it or not). If you're doing triple chains, you'll need
- to stick to SoM.
- Hammer of Might | Def | 5% | 20/47 | 3 | 1,5 | HP mp | F |
- 1,57x HP, 0,05x MP, 2 hits, 1,85s (1,5s), large area, knockdown.
- Weaker than Cliff's, but it's not really worth using on Disc 2 anyway.
- Electric Fists | Lv33 | 5% | 9/40 | 6 | 1,5 | HP
- 0,735x, 3 hits (2). 2s (0,93s) The last hit has knockdown. Non-elemental.
- Berserk | Lv33 |
- Aerial Assault | Lv41 | 8% | 20/47 | 5 | 1,5 | HP MP
- 3,35x HP, 0,5x MP -> 4,8x HP, 0,71x MP, 2,5s (1,5s to hit), small area.
- (5,0x HP, 0,75x MP-> 7,2x HP, 1,07x MP)
- Massive damage in a single slowish hit. I wouldn't recommend using it
- much on Disc 2, as many enemies can easily interrupt it and / or kill
- you if they block it.
- Crescent Locus | Lv46 | 5% | 20/47 | 4 | 1,5 | hP
- 0,63x -> 0,9x, 3 hits (4 in NTSC)(1), 1,4s (0,5s), knockdown.
- Faster fodder than SoM, but it's got knockdown and prevents triple chains
- with IK. The knockdown isn't really an issue if you can do the skip-cancel
- or if the enemy has substantial force resistance, and you can still do
- triple chains with AL. It doesn't let you delay the chain as much as SoM,
- though.
- Triple Kick | Lv49 | 8% | 20/47 | 5 | 2,0 | HP
- 1,05x -> 1,5x (2,1x -> 3,0x), 3 hits, 1,75s.
- Great skill, although not that combo-friendly because of the heavy
- knockback. There are a few cases where you can keep chaining it: (1)
- The enemy resists the force of the first hit, (2) the enemy hits a wall,
- (3) the enemy is large, or (4) some other character's attack prevents
- the knockback. However, even if you can continue the chain, you'll just
- end up hitting the air unless (a) the enemy gets up quickly, (b) you're
- using SoM as cancel fodder, or (c) another character's attack prevents
- the knockdown.
- I don't really use it much (Luther, Aqua Wisps, Freya), but when I do
- use it, it's highly valuable.
- Acrobat Locus | Lv56 | 9% | 20/50 | 6 | 1,3 | HP
- 0,42x -> 0,6x (0,54x -> 0,78x), 15 hits (10), 5,2s (4,0s), juggle.
- A nice one. It's quite invested in the second hit, but even if the float
- fails, it'll still hit larger enemies.
- Need to delay the cancel to get the last 5 hits. The AI, of course, won't
- (at least, not on AWAYM).
- Avenger Charge | Lv62 | 10% | 25/55 | 8 | 1,5 | HP | F |
- 0,5x, 11 hits, 5,6s, float on last hit. Mirage jumps away from the target
- at the end, so you usually can't chain it higher than 200%.
- The damage is good when it's not resisted, which it, sadly, quite often
- is. The high CP cost also means you'll have to use Aerial as fodder in
- order to keep No Guard on. I've used it in a couple of playthroughs just
- to mix things up, but that's it.
- Infinity Kick | UCT2 | 14% | 30/60 | 6 | 1,3 | HP MP | | (& MoT5)
- 0,42x HP, 0,05x MP -> 0,6x HP, 0,073x MP, 11 hits, 6,1s (5,8s), juggle.
- (0,54x HP, 0,065x MP -> 0,78x HP, 0,095x MP)
- The juggle starts at the 4th hit. The last hit is a flip kick just like
- with Avenger Charge, but it's not as likely to leave you at long range.
- This one's my favorite. Nice damage and solid stopping power.
- Blazing Cannon | S178 | 11% | 30/60 | 8 | 1,5 | HP
- 0,42x -> 0,6x (0,63x -> 0,9x), juggle. 12 Fury for two hits.
- If the float works, this will allow you to slowly but surely rack up a
- lot of damage. This one shouldn't be chained, as only the first 3 and last
- 3 hits are affected by Cancel Bonus. It makes up for it with the sheer
- number of hits. With Fury use -3, you can do 56 hits at 10 000 pod plus
- criticals. Of course, your other characters won't be able to contribute.

- Shockwave. 0,42x -> 0,6x, 4 hits max. 1,6s (1,1s).
- Good skip-cancel fodder until you get Fugasumi. Technically, the best
- non-elemental HP killer for the AI until you get Kyou, but only if it's
- chained all the way.
- Aerial | Lv6 | 5% | 20/42 | 2 | 1,5 | hP
- 1,5x, 5 hits max, 3,5s (2,83s), 1,7s to hit, Pretty good against large
- enemies. Mind the slow start-up.
- Kagebarai | Lv10 | 6% | 20/47 | 3 | 1,5 | hP mP
- Shadow Wave. 0,73x HP, 0,1x MP, 2 hits, 2s (0,9s), small area, knockdown.
- Good for MP kills early in the game. The knockdown makes it non-chain
- friendly, and it misses anything above the ground. I use it up until
- I get Touga.
- Touga | Lv15 | 6% | 40/62 | 4 | 1,3 | HP | W |
- Ice Daggers. 1,05x, 3 hits max, 1,4s (1s), long range.
- A good waza (when it's not resisted). If you can't skip-cancel it, just
- chain it with itself. At long range, it's only effective on larger
- enemies, and even then, you can generally expect to only get 2 hits.
- You'll also get the occasional freezekill (unless Cliff unfreezes them
- with HoM).
- Berserk | Lv16 |
- Charge | Lv19 | 5% | 20/42 | 4 | 1,5 | HP mp
- 1,5x HP, 0,05x MP, 1,5s (0,75s). Fairly good. The MP killers and Touga
- will likely get the job done better, though.
- Fugasumi | Lv20 | 5% | 10/35 | 2 | 1,2 | hp MP
- Poison Cloud. 0,315x HP, 0,1x MP, 3 hits (1), 2,4s (1,3s). May inflict
- Poison and Silence.
- In a way, it's more combo-friendly than Kagebarai. It doesn't have
- knockdown, but it gets interrupted more easily. I'd go with this one.
- Also great cancel fodder.
- Fuujin | Lv25 | 8% | 30/62 | 4 | 1,3 | hP(MP)| I |
- Whirlwind. 0,525x, 2,1s (1,55s). Active after 1,5s. About 16 hits at
- Lv1. More if the enemy isn't juggled, but that means the enemy could
- easily hit you. It's okay so long as the enemy's not resistant to Wind.
- Don't forget to take advantage of attribute transfer. If you use it for
- MP kills, there's no need to cancel it, since the MP damage is unaffected
- by the cancel multiplier.
- Lv1: 3s. Lv4: 5s. Lv8: 8s.
- Kokuyousen | Lv30 | 7% | 30/67 | 5 | 1,5 | hP MP
- 0,315x HP, 0,05x MP -> 0,45x HP, 0,07x MP, 1,7s (1,2s), ~5 hits, long range.
- (0,47x HP, 0,075x MP -> 0,675x HP, 0,11x MP). Flying Guillotine.
- Allows you to deal decent damage to multiple enemies from a distance.
- Gets blocked easily, so be very careful when you use it on Disc 2.
- Largely ineffective in the AI's hands (unless you stick it to SR
- slots - not a great solution). If you cancel it at the earliest
- opportunity, you'll likely only get 3 hits. I usually aim at 4.
- Raikouha | Lv40 | 8% | 30/62 | 4 | 1,2 | hP | I |
- Lightning Chain. 0,315x, 2,3s (1,1s). Lv1: 3s. Lv4: 5s. Lv8: 6s.
- Hit count varies depending on your luck. Minimal stopping power but
- easily hits multiple enemies and also enables multi-tasking. While
- you can't use it at long range, you can at least use it anywhere in
- the SR zone. A nice move *if* you level it up (which takes maybe an
- hour and a half). Otherwise, don't bother.
- No Guard | Lv40 |
- Kyoumensatsu | Lv52,| 10% | 30/62 | 8 | 1,5 | HP
- Mirror Slice. 0,63x -> 0,9x (0,945x -> 1,35x), 9 hits, 5s (4s), juggle.
- The juggle starts on the 3rd hit.
- One of my favorite waza. Great damage, good stopping power.
- Uraouka Sakkou | MoT5 | 15% | 25/50 | 7 | 1,5 | HP
- Divine Wrath. 0,63x, 17 hits max, 6s. It blows the enemy away from you
- and knocks them down at the end, so it's hard to chain beyond the first
- serving. It's a shame too, since the low Fury cost means you could do
- quad chains with a Ring of Animosity.
- All in all, not bad, but I'd stick with Kyou.
- Fuujin Seiraiha | S169 | 12% | 30/60 | 6 | 1,3 | HP MP | I |
- Splitting Sky. 0,525x HP, 0,1x MP.
- Similar to Energy Burst but harder to use because of the slow start-up
- (3s). Doesn't help that it's elemental and you get it late in the post-
- game. Oh, and the AI can't use it properly (it keeps canceling it).
- With full Fury, you'll get 34 hits.

- Ae | 5 | 0,3s | 0,33s | Fury dmg
- LR | 5 | 0,4s | 0,55s | Fury dmg
- The skip-cancel timing for the LR Confirm attack is a bit unusual. If
- you let go of Confirm at the beginning of the attack, the skip will fail.
- You have to delay it a bit.
- Doing skip-cancels from the Aerial target attack requires a well-timed,
- semi-buffered input.
- Blade of Fury | Lv2 | 5% | 20/47 | 4 | 1,3 | hP
- Three sword strikes at 0,7x, 0,9x and 1,3x. The last one can do 2 hits.
- The second and third strikes cost 5/10 Fury. 3,5s (3,0s) in total. One
- hit: 1,4s (0,4s). Lv10: 1,05x, 1,3x, 1,9x, 3,0s (2,0s).
- Cancel fodder, at best. Note that it gets faster as it levels up. Even
- at low levels, it's faster fodder than SK, but it seldom allows skip-
- canceling, and the CP cost is too high to allow using NG with Air Raid.
- I guess you could still use it as fodder for Shotgun Blast in NTSC.
- Aerial | Lv4 | 5% | 20/42 | 2 | 1,5 | hp mp
- 1,6x HP, 0,15x MP, knockdown. It has some potential use early in the game.
- Blazing Sword | Lv6 | 5%M| 10/20 | 4 | 2,0 | hp mP | F |
- 0,63x HP, 0,16x MP, 4,2s, lasts 30s.
- The first of Fayt's blade enchantment skills that affect his normal
- attacks. The effect kicks in after 3s, but the timer doesn't start
- until the animation ends (whether it's normally or because you got
- hit). Using a normal battle skill will cancel the enchantment.
- Good for MP kills so long as the element isn't resisted. Same goes
- for the other two. Throwing in IMPD boosts the damage a little, but
- not by much.
- Fayt's AI won't attack enemies who take no damage from the element of
- the enchantment. The AI isn't smart enough to refrain from activating
- the enchantment in this scenario, however.
- Charge | Lv9 | 5% | 20/42 | 4 | 1,5 | HP mp
- 1,5x HP, 0,03x MP, 1,1s (0,6s). Fairly good, although you can't get the
- most out of it until you get Berserk.
- Side Kick | Lv15 | 6% | 10/37 | 2 | 1,2 | hP
- 0,84 -> 1,2x (1,0x -> 1,44x), 3 hits, 1,8s (1,1s)(1s to hit).
- Makes Fayt invulnerable to physical damage for a while at the beginning.
- A popular choice, even though the move is janky as fuck. It's too much
- of a block risk (unless you use BoF as fodder) and it doesn't hit small
- targets consistently. That's most of the enemies in the entire game.
- Needless to say, I only use it as skip-cancel fodder.
- No Guard | Lv16 |
- Ice Blade | Lv20 | 6%M| 10/20 | 4 | 1,5 | hp mP | W |
- 1,05x HP, 0,14x MP, 4s (activates after 2s).
- Berserk | Lv21 |
- Increase MP Damage| Lv23 |
- Shotgun Blast | Lv25 | 6% | 20/47 | 4 | 1,5 | HP | F |
- 0,84x -> 1,2x (1,25x -> 1,8x), 2-5 hits, 2,75s (1,1s)(1,33s to get all
- 5 hits). I don't even bother using Fayt until he learns this one. It's
- pretty good until you get Air Raid (even if it's halved). If you give it
- to the AI, you'll need to switch to Well-balanced or FYA.
- Lightning Blade | Lv30 | 7%M| 10/20 | 6 | 2,0 | hp mP | I |
- 0,525x HP, 0,18 MP, 3,6s (activates after 2s).
- Air Raid | Lv40 | 10% | 40/67 | 7 | 1,5 | HP
- 0,525x -> 0,75x (0,79x->1,125x), 7 hits max, medium area, 2,5s (1,7s), juggle.
- Great damage, great stopping power. Mind the knockdown and knockback.
- Not an issue when using SK as fodder. If you're not controlling Fayt,
- you'll just have to accept that the AI will kill the chain when the
- second SK hits the air. You could try to manually compensate, though.
- Using Air Raid with No Guard indeed requires using SK as fodder. This
- becomes an issue in NTSC-versions, since you can't just skip the SK.
- Without skipping the first SK, you're so easily blocked by enemies near
- max Fury. One solution is to start the chain with SK rather than a normal
- attack. Your multipliers will be a bit lower, but it's still better
- than getting blocked.
- Dimension Door | Lv50 | 8% | 20/47 | 6 | 1,5 | HP mp
- 3,15x HP, 0,12x MP (4,73x HP, 0,18x MP), 2s.
- Warp and slash. Hold down the button to extend the duration of the
- pre-warp field, which does 12-25% damage, halts enemies and may inflict
- Paralysis. Can't halt enemies with boss benefits.
- Pretty good, although I'd say Air Raid is preferable. If you do end up
- using it, note that the slash has a habit of missing if you rush it.
- To avoid this, you need to hold down the button until you get the first
- field hit. This doesn't actually slow down the move to any significant
- degree (maybe 0,1s).
- Divine Blade | MoT7 | 15%M| 30/70 | 8 | 1,7 | hp MP
- 0,735x HP, 0,25x MP, 5s (activates after 3s).
- Ethereal Blast | S114 | 15% | 70/90 | 8 | 1,5 | HP MP
- 0,94x HP, 0,1x MP -> 1,35x HP, 0,15x MP, 14 hits max, 7,5s.
- (1,41x HP, 0,15x MP -> 2,0x HP, 0,225x MP)
- Great damage potential, very slow start-up. After 2,25s, Fayt is in
- the air, where he can avoid many attacks. The attack begins 4s in and
- has Fayt readjust his aim. Enemies outside of the center of the blast
- will only take a few hits (with knockdown). Even if you're not interrupted,
- you could still easily end up missing if the enemy is too close or too
- far. Then again, with high enough ATP, those few hits could be enough
- to take out the enemy. Even so, Air Raid is *clearly* more effective.
- However, if you're feeling saturated with it, you could still use EB
- just for the heck of it. It really does work quite well for the most
- part, and it's satisfying to use. There are just a few enemies in the
- Sphere that are very likely to interrupt it (Incapacitator 5, Convictor,
- Proclaimer). Good for bosses, too, up until Blair (*maybe* Blair as
- well, if you want to push your luck).
- Sophia
- Normal Attacks

- PB | 5 | 0,83s | 0,9s | Fury dmg, knockdown
- SR | 5 | 0,4s | 0,5s |
- LR | 5 | 1,6s | 1,5s |
- Fire Bolt and Ice Needles are the best low CP fodder at 20 Fury and 2 CP.
- They *are* kind of slow, though, when not skipped, at 2,9s. You'll just
- have to put up with it if you either want to stay at a distance of if
- want to avoid the cancel multiplier reset bug (or if you're on NTSC).
- Don't forget about the reset bug if you start LR chains with a normal
- attack.
- Healing | Lv3 |
- Heal the HP of a single target by 35-38% at Lv1, 80-87% at Lv10.
- Casting time: 3,7s (5,7s total) (half: 2,4s, min: 2,4s)
- Faerie Light | Lv32 |
- Heal the HP of the whole party by 33-36% at Lv1, 60-66% at Lv10.
- It takes 1 second for the effect to occur.
- Casting time: 5,2s (6,8s total) (half: 3,75s, min: 3,2s).
- Restoration | Lv22 |
- Revive a dead character and heal 10% HP & MP at Lv1, 50% at Lv10.
- It takes about 2 seconds for the effect to kick in.
- Casting time: 4,2s (5,8s total) (half: 3,2s, min: 2,7s).
- Cure Condition | Lv20 |
- Heal Poison, Paralysis and Petrification. Nothing else.
- Casting time: 3,7s (5,2s total) (half: 2,4s, min: 2,4s)
- Protection | Lv17 |
- Power Up | Lv25 |
- Increase MP Damage| Lv32 |
- Sophia's long range normal attacks deal 0,2x and 0,3x MP damage by
- default. This will boost them to 0,45x (-> 0,54x) and 0,6x (-> 0,7x).
- Charge | Lv22 | 5% | 20/42 | 4 | 1,5 | hP mP
- 1,5x HP, 0,15x MP, 1,7s (1,1s). It's a bit slow and doesn't cover much
- area. Not recommended.
- Aerial | Lv26 | 5% | 20/42 | 2 | 1,5 | hp mP
- 0,5x HP, 0,2x MP, 0-2 hits, 2,7s (2,1s). Used near the edge of the
- short range field. Sophia moves back a little bit when using it, so
- it's easy to end up in long range. Even so, you might want to use this
- with Southern Cross, especially in the NTSC-versions.
- Thunder Flare | Lv30 | 8%M| 30/60 | 4 | 1,3 | hp | I |
- 13 hits in 6 seconds (3,9s)(5s active), medium area.
- You can use this for interruption / stunlocking.
- Berserk | Lv42 |
- Explosion | Lv50 | 10%M| 40/72 | 7 | 1,3 | hp | F |
- 10 hits in 10 seconds. The hits start at the 3,75s mark. You regain
- control after 4s. You can cancel at the 3,5s mark. Canceling makes
- the spells overlap (same hit count). Enemies outside the center of
- the blast will take 5 hits.
- With enough boosts, it can deal good damage. You'll have poor visibility,
- though.
- Laser Beams | Lv54 | %M| | | 1,3 | hp
- Her only non-elemental spell until the post-game.
- Lightning Strike | Lv60 | %M| | | 1,3 | hp | I |
- Blood Scylla | MoT1 | 12%M| 40/72 | 7 | 1,3 | hp MP
- Drain HP and MP from nearby enemies. 2-3 hits. 7,2s (6,0s). Not too bad.
- You could certainly use it on a few enemies in the MoT with low MP. The
- reset bug takes the edge off, though (what little edge it has).
- Southern Cross | S108 | 8%M| 30/60 | 6 | 1,3 | hP MP
- 6 hits in 5 seconds in a large area. SR only. Quite delicious. No
- Guard is highly recommended, but that means dropping Quick Symbol.
- Even with No Guard, it's easy to get interrupted. Just like with Blood
- Scylla, the spell will still continue even if you're hit (so long as
- it's not too quick), but you'll then lose the major multiplier. Instead
- of starting the chain with a short range attack, you can still start it
- with a long range attack if you time it so the enemy enters the short
- range field before the cancel window closes.
- Requires Fury use -4 for triple chains, and you could easily get that
- if she has the Victory Trophy, but that's hardly necessary.
- Gremlins | S209 | 6%M| 30/60 | 6 | 1,3 | hp mP | E |
- Sophia summons these little critters (6 at Lv1, 8 at Lv4, 10 at Lv8)
- that slowly move towards the enemy. 5,3s to cancel. It's slow, elemental,
- the HP damage is insignificant, the MP damage is lower than with the
- previous two spells, it can't hit multiple enemies and it can easily
- miss. The only advantage it has is that you can use it from as far away
- as you want. Worth using only arbitrarily.
- Meteor Swarm | S210 | 15%M| --/96 |10 | 1,3 | hP | F |
- After an 8 second incantation, a bunch of meteors come falling down
- that may or may not hit something. If you want Soph to do HP damage
- from a distance, I suggest going with Explosion or Lightning Strike
- but certainly not this.
- Cliff
- Normal Attacks
- Fury t1 t2
- PB | 10 | 0,05s | 0,13s |
- MR | 10 | 0,2s | 0,23s | Fury dmg: 100%
- Ae | 10 | 0,3s | 1,0s |
- LR | 10 | 0,2s | 0,85s | Knockdown
- Cliff's point blank range attack is the only normal blockable you can't
- do skip-cancels from. You can barely even do regular cancels with it
- with the help of buffering and/or impact freeze.
- Sphere of Might | Lv4 | 6% | 15/35 | 4 | 1,5 | hP
- 0,42x -> 0,6x, 4 hits (2). 2,4s (1,1s).
- Doesn't hit short enemies well and sometimes knocks the enemy down.
- The best skip cancel fodder Cliff has. As regular cancel fodder, it's
- not that great, as enemies near max Fury will often block it. You'll
- still have to use it, though, if you have Cliff in AI control. On manual,
- you can use Charge instead if you're on NTSC or if you just can't pull
- off the skip consistently.
- No Guard | Lv8 |
- Hammer of Might | Lv10 | 5% | 20/47 | 3 | 1,5 | HP mp | F |
- 1,89x HP, 0,02x MP, 2 hits, 1,85s (1,5s), large area, knockdown.
- Pretty good. Mainly of use on Disc 1.
- Electric Fists | Lv15 | 5% | 9/40 | 6 | 1,5 | HP
- 0,735x, 3 hits (2). 2s (0,93s) The last hit has knockdown. Non-elemental.
- A nice one, While Charge can easily outdamage it, it's still very much
- worth considering, as it has a few advantages over Charge: it's more
- AI-friendly and it can hit flying enemies and multiple enemies. It's
- also easier on your thumb if you're using Hyper Charge.
- Berserk | Lv17 |
- Charge | Lv17 | 5% | 20/42 | 4 | 1,5 | HP
- 2,2x, 1,1s (0,45s). Great HP damage. Requires manual use, as always.
- If you end up using this as cancel fodder, you need to be careful with
- those damaging counter auras.
- Fiery Tackle | Lv20 | 5% | 12/35 | 6 | 1,5 | hP | F |
- 1,67x -> 2,42x, knockdown. Not much use for this one. It's better skip
- cancel fodder for AA than SoM against enemies with force resistance
- (unless you're using No Guard), but that's about it.
- Aerial | Lv21 | 5% | 20/42 | 2 | 1,5 | hp mp
- 1,5x HP, 0,1x MP, 1,8s (1,35s), knockdown & knockback.
- Aerial Assault | Lv25 | 8% | 20/47 | 5 | 1,5 | HP MP
- 3,35x HP, 0,5x MP -> 4,8x HP, 0,71x MP, 2,5s (1,5s to hit), small area.
- (5,0x HP, 0,75x MP -> 7,2x HP, 1,07x MP)
- Massive damage in a single, slowish hit. Recommended mainly for MP kills.
- Can produce some pretty epic self-ownage if the enemy has a damaging
- counter aura. It's not very fun, so better use fodder and keep it
- unblockable. I wouldn't recommend using it much on Disc 2, as many
- enemies can easily interrupt it.
- If you press the button again, you can do an alternate version that
- does half damage but covers a medium area.
- Fists of Fury | Lv30 | 10% | 20/47 | 6 | 1,2 | HP
- 0,21x, 20 hits, 4,4s. You can (and should) cancel it before the last 2
- hits to avoid the knockdown. This gives you 18 hits in 3s.
- A solid choice.
- Uppercut | Lv40 | 8% | 15/35 | 6 | 1,5 | hP
- 0,63x. Juggle the enemy with varying degrees of success. After starting
- up, each hit costs 5/10 Fury. The move involves Cliff randomly using
- three different attacks: an uppercut punch and two different kicks. One
- of the kicks can do 2 hits. Uppercut can only (somewhat) consistently
- juggle large enemies. It can still work on smaller enemies - you can
- probably pick them up again after dropping them - but you'll easily get
- better results with FoF or AL.
- Worthless in the AI's hands.
- Acrobat Locus | Lv50 | 10% | 20/50 | 6 | 1,3 | HP
- 0,42x -> 0,6x (0,54x -> 0,78x), 15 hits (10), 5,2s (4,0s).
- A nice waza. If I ever were to actually keep Cliff in my party instead
- of replacing him with Mirage, this is what I'd mostly have him use.
- Infinity Kick | MoT5 | 15% | 30/60 | 8 | 1,3 | HP MP | | (& UCT2)
- 0,42x HP, 0,05x MP -> 0,6x HP, 0,073x MP, 11 hits, 6,1s (5,8s).
- (0,54x HP, 0,065x MP -> 0,78x HP, 0,095x MP)
- Has a higher CP cost than Mirage's, even though the damage is the same.
- You'd have to use Aerial as fodder if you wanted to keep using No Guard.
- But why put up with such a nasty compromise... when you can just bring
- in Mirage and do it properly?
- Max Shockwave | S150 | 12% | 30/60 | 6 | 1,5 | HP mp
- 1,25x HP, 0,04x MP -> 1,8x HP, 0,06x MP, ~9 hits, 4s (2,5s start-up),
- (1,9x HP, 0,06x MP -> 2,7x HP, 0,09x MP) 2,75s when canceled.
- Allows Cliff to deal great damage from a distance. Great stopping
- power. The knockdown does make you lose some hits, though.
- This one has attribute transfer, so cancel the blockable one quickly
- (to turn it unblockable) and the (real) unblockable late.
- Maria

- Pulling off skip-cancels from the sidestep attack is *quite* tricky.
- You have to be quick *and* precise.
- Berserk | Def |
- Aiming Device | Def | 5%M| 25/50 | 2 | 1,3 | HP MP
- 1,26x HP, 0,165x MP -> 1,8x HP, 0,235x MP, float. Effect: Confusion.
- (1,64x HP, 0,215x MP -> 2,34x HP, 0,3x MP).
- This one's not bad, but you simply can't afford to use it extensively.
- Scatter Beam | Def | 7% | 20/47 | 3 | 1,3 | HP
- 0,525x (0,68x). Lv1: 5 hits. Lv4: 7 hits. Lv8: 10 hits.
- Has the potential to do massive damage especially if levelled up, but
- it has little stopping power and gets blocked quite easily. At Lv8+,
- the dps is so ridiculously high, it hardly matters.
- One of Maria's two long range options during the main game, the other
- one being Pulse Blast.
- Protection | Def |
- Increase DFP by 50% for 60 -> 114 seconds.
- Power Up | Lv21 |
- Increase ATP by 50% for 60 -> 114 seconds.
- Charge | Lv22 | 5% | 20/42 | 4 | 1,5 | HP MP
- 1,5x HP, 0,15x MP, 0,8s (0,4s).
- A good Charge, although it's too fast for Hyper Charge.
- Aerial | Lv24 | 5% | 20/42 | 2 | 1,5 | HP MP
- Damage is identical to Charge, but it only hits flying / large enemies.
- Because of the knockdown, you can only really chain it if you combine
- it with AD.
- Magnetic Field | Lv28 | 5% | 10/27 | 5 | 2,0 | HP
- 1,57x, medium area. Slows enemies down and may inflict Paralysis. The
- field usually does one additional hit at about 1/6 damage.
- Not bad. The low Fury cost means you can use it up to 10 times in a
- single chain. In practice, you'll top out at about 7, since Maria takes
- a step back during the move and thus won't be able to stay within range.
- Pulse Blast | Lv32 | 7% | 25/50 | 4 | 1,3 | hP
- 0,525x, 1,75s. Lv1: 4x1 hits. Lv4: 4x2 hits. Lv8: 4x3 hits.
- A ranged attack with (initially) fair damage and minimal stopping power.
- Has trouble hitting most enemies. Getting 2 or 3 hits is common.
- If you want ranged HP damage, this is your best choice (at least in the
- main game). It's quite a block risk, though, without skip-canceling.
- If you have Maria in AI control, you should use IHPD instead until she
- can chain this more consistently.
- Crescent Locus | Lv38 | 5% | 20/47 | 4 | 1,5 | hP
- 0,63x -> 0,9x, 3 hits (4 in NTSC), knockdown.
- Triple Kick | Lv42 | 6% | 20/47 | 5 | 2,0 | HP
- 1,05x -> 1,5x (2,1x -> 3,0x), 3 hits, 1,75s.
- Good stuff, like I said, although Maria can't use it as effectively as
- Mirage due to her limited speed.
- Laser Blast | Lv46 | 6% | 20/47 | 4 | 1,3 | HP | F |
- 0,735x, 3 hits max, medium area. Fire resistance is just too common on
- Disc 2, so there's really no need to use this when there are clearly
- better alternatives.
- Gravity Bullet | Lv52 | 12% | 40/80 | 6 | 1,2 | HP(MP)
- 0,255x, 25 hits max, 3,5s, juggle. Supports attribute transfer. The force
- rating is rather low, so the bullet can easily travel through an enemy
- without fazing them, resulting in only a small number of hits. You may
- have to float the enemy with something else first (block, AD). Still,
- pretty good if you don't mind how clumsy Maria is in close quarters.
- Maria jumps back after firing the shot, so you can't really chain it
- higher than 200%, at least not without skip-canceling. Even then, you'll
- need a Ring of Animosity due to the high Fury cost. Or you can use MF
- as fodder if you don't mind dropping all her support skills. Even with
- AD, you can't use No Guard, though, unless you use IHPMPD, which certainly
- helps with HP kills as well.
- When going for 300%, you'll likely have to use Maria's LR Confirm attack
- for the attribute transfer simply due to limited Fury. The difference is
- just a few hits, though. With LR Confirm, you'll get maybe 13 transfer
- hits. With LR Cancel, you'll get 14-15.
- Maria is the only character who doesn't learn IMPD, but you can still
- do MP damage with GB if you feed her a Mildewed Tome. Again, no need
- to cancel chain when going for MP kills.
- No Guard | Lv58 |
- I'd say you won't need this unless you're using Scatter Beam.
- Energy Burst | MoT5 | 10% | 30/60 | 8 | 1,2 | HP MP
- 0,525x HP, 0,1x MP -> 0,75x HP, 0,15x MP. Effect: Paralysis.
- (0,63x HP, 0,12x MP -> 0,9x HP, 0,18x MP)
- Absolutely devastating. I would actually recommend against using it,
- because of how simple and easy it is. The battles will be more interesting
- without it.
- In any case, it'll do 33 hits with full Fury. When chained with MF, you
- can still get 28 hits, possibly 30.
- Radiation Bots | S187 | 15%M| 50/77 | 6 | 1,5 | hP mP
- 0,525x HP, 0,05x MP. Four little bots follow Maria and attack when she
- does. Not bad, but you really have to level it up to get the most out
- of it. At Lv1, it only lasts for 3 seconds. You can easily reactivate
- it, but the MP cost is so high, you don't want to do that too much.
- Seeing as how late you get it, you probably can't be bothered with it.
- If you do decide to use it, make sure you use the sidestep attack.

- Magic Hook | Lv5 | 5% | 15/47 | 2 | 1,5 | hP mp
- 1,57x HP, 0,05x MP, Fury damage, 1 or 2 hits. The attack has three
- different variations (two of which cause knockdown), and you have no
- control over it, so it's very unreliable. Skip cancel fodder.
- Charge | Lv6 | 5% | 20/42 | 4 | 1,5 | hP MP
- 1,0x HP, 0,1x MP, 1,5s (0,9s), float.
- Fairly nice. Can juggle the enemy on its own, but watch out for those
- blocks. Or just use a dance as fodder. Hyper Charge doesn't work well
- with this one when you have increased movement speed, since you have to
- delay the chaining at times to maintain the juggle. At default speed,
- it works much better. An unfortunate trade-off.
- Frozen Daggers | Lv10 | 5% | 20/47 | 3 | 1,3 | hP | W |
- 0,84x, 4 hits, 3,8s (3,2s). A passable ranged attack.
- Power Dance | Lv15 | 6%M| 15/35 | 6 | -
- A dance that increases the ATP of characters within range by 75% at Lv1,
- 187% at Lv10. Chaining increases the bonus by 19% (points) at 175%, 25%
- at 200%, 37% at 250% and 50% at 300%. The effect lasts for 30 seconds.
- In the PAL-version, you can cancel chain the move at any time, whereas
- in the NTSC-versions, the cancel window begins after 2,2 seconds.
- All four dances last for 13 seconds if uninterrupted. None of them
- receive any bonuses from being set to Cancel. Peppita is invincible
- for a little while at the beginning of a dance.
- I wouldn't use this, since the ATP boost is so massive it just breaks
- the game.
- Aerial | Lv18 | 5% | 20/42 | 2 | 1,5 | hp mp
- 1,5x HP, 0,1x MP, knockdown.
- Instanto Blast | Lv20 | 8% | 25/52 | 4 | 1,3 | hP MP
- 0,63x HP, 0,14x MP, 2,1s (1,4s).
- Good, ranged MP damage (not that there's much use for that on Disc 2).
- Also the best AI-friendly cancel fodder. NTSC players will have to use
- this as fodder even in manual. It doesn't let you do triple chains natively,
- though.
- Panic Dance | Lv25 | 6%M| 15/35 | 6 | -
- A dance that inflicts Confusion.
- Kaboom | Lv30 | 10% | 20/47 | 5 | 1,5 | HP
- 0,63x. About 7 hits (11 max) with slight juggle at the end. Lasts about
- 2,9s. May inflict Instant Death.
- Pretty good and, sadly, about as good as it gets with Peppita. The move
- doesn't chain well because of the knockdown and knockback. At least the
- Fury cost is low, so you can do triple chains natively (PAL only).
- Healing Dance | Lv40 | 10%M| 15/35 | 6 | -
- A dance that heals characters within range.
- Could be used as cancel fodder in the NTSC-versions. You can cancel it
- after 1 second.
- No Guard | Lv48 |
- Faerie Friend | Lv50 | 8% | 20/47 | 6 | 1,5 | HP MP
- 1,05x HP, 0,105x MP, Fury damage, 9 hits, knockdown + juggle, 11s (8s).
- Right, so, it does 2+2+5 hits. The first two hits come when the "fairy"
- pops up. These have knockdown. The fairy then does two "smaller" hits
- (one or two of which will miss if the enemy was knocked down) followed
- by a whirlwind that does 5 hits and juggles. The whirlwind is the good
- part, but it takes 6,5s to get to it.
- Utterly worthless without No Guard and Convert Damage. Even if you're
- not interrupted, it's not exactly great. Since there's no tracking, it's
- not unusual to end up swinging at the air. Maybe still worth using...?
- Magical Dance | MoT5 | 12% | 15/35 | 6 | -
- A dance that heals the MP of characters within range.
- Dream Hammer | S126 | 12% | 22/52 | 5 | 2,0 | HP MP
- 0,84x HP, 0,084x MP, Fury damage, multiple hits. After initiating the
- combo, additional hits cost 5/10 Fury. Very much requires No Guard and
- Convert Damage, just like FF. To get the most out of it, you'd need
- Fury use -4, but you'd also need to avoid getting interrupted at any
- point, which is rather unlikely when fighting something that can actually
- survive a full combo (unless you pop some Roe Tablets). -3 will do fine.
- If I had to get her to -4, I'd give her the Victory Trophy and synth
- a Faerie Ring instead of a RoMP.
- With -4, you could get 74 hits at 200% or 49 hits at 300%. The total
- damage is about the same (just a bit more with 200%), but the dps is,
- of course, *much* higher with 300% (about 1,4 times higher).
- With -3, you can get 36 hits at 200% or 28 hits at 300%. Here, both
- total damage and dps is higher with 300.

- SR | 8 | 0,4s | 0,5s |
- MR | 5 | 0,5s | 0,55s | Fury dmg: 100%, Wind-elem.
- SR skip-cancels will likely fail if the target doesn't flinch.
- The mid-range attack is a shockwave with a leap attack follow-up. Both
- are Wind-elemental and will always deal Fury damage, so long as they
- actually deal damage. Aside from being hindered by the element, the
- shockwave has a nasty habit of missing unless the enemy moves closer.
- Kuuhazan | Def | 5% | 10/30 | 2 | 2,0 | HP | I |
- Air Slash. 1,05x, 1,8s (1,3s). I believe you've met. It's never been
- this good before, though. Also your go-to mid-range (skip) cancel fodder.
- Best fodder for the AI as well, although it won't work when the enemy
- takes no damage from Wind.
- Shouretsuha | Def | 5% | 20/47 | 2 | 1,2 | hp | I |
- Shockwave Swirl. 0,735x, ~2 hits, 2s (1,25s). This one's got medium float,
- but it also blows the enemy away from you, so it can't do juggling on
- its own. SR skip cancel fodder.
- Kikoushou | Lv26 | 5% | 20/47 | 4 | 1,3 | hP mp
- Palm of Destruction. 2,6x HP, 0,1x MP, Fury damage, 1,6s (1,1s), knockdown.
- No Guard | Lv26 |
- Aerial | Lv29 | 5% | 20/42 | 2 | 1,5 | hP
- 0,5x. It's got light float, so it could be used for juggling, although
- the damage is pretty modest. When combined with Charge, the damage is
- pretty good, but it's kind of unreliable since you'll move forward a
- lot, which makes it easy to hit a wall. Also, for enemies with force
- resistance, you pretty much have to float them with something else first
- to make it work (Homing, LR Cancel). So, yeah, it's not very appealing,
- but it's still an option.
- Mashouheki | Lv32 | 8% | 25/45 | 6 | 1,2 | MP | E |
- Aura Wall. 0,028x MP, 26 hits, 5s, juggle. Create a small shield of
- energy that constantly damages on contact. You regain control soon
- after putting up the shield. The enemy usually moves a little while
- being juggled. Move your character to block them from leaving the shield.
- The move doesn't support attribute transfer.
- Does a great job at juggling the enemy, but it's just not reliable
- enough when it comes to actually killing the enemy. There are plenty
- of enemies that you don't want to MP kill, as well as enemies that
- resist Earth.
- There's a bug that prevents the AI from using it more than once in a
- given battle. But even if that wasn't the case, the AI couldn't possibly
- be trusted with it. They'd just end up knocking the enemy out of the
- shield or starting a new chain before it was needed.
- Charge | Lv32 | 5% | 20/42 | 4 | 1,5 | hP
- 2,2x, knockdown.
- Souhazan | Lv35 | 5% | 20/40 | 4 | 1,3 | hP
- Double Slash. 0,735x, 2 hits, knockdown.
- Makousen | Lv40 | 20%M| 20/40 | 6 | 1,5 | hP mP
- Vampiric Flash. 0,525x HP, 0,05x MP, drain, medium area. Consumes 8/12
- Fury at a high pace to remain active. The MP cost is pretty steep (500
- MP at minimum), but you should be able to drain it right back.
- Goumashou | Lv45 | 10% | 25/52 | 5 | 1,3 | HP mP
- Hand of Doom. 0,735x HP, 0,04x MP, Fury damage, 6 hits max, knockdown,
- 2,7s. This is Albel's best move and it's quite good.
- Kouryuuha | Lv50 | 12% | 30/62 | 7 | 1,5 | hP mP
- Dragon Roar. 0,315x HP, 0,03x MP, ~12 hits, juggle, 5,5s (2,5s to start).
- Too slow and doesn't chain well. Even if you knock the enemy down first,
- you can still easily get hit before the attack begins. No Guard would
- help there, but if you want to chain it beyond 200%, you need to put
- something in the LR slot, and you don't have enough CP for both. Just
- forget about it and stick with Goumashou.
- Mugen Kuuhazan | MoT6 | 12% | 20/47 | 6 | 1,3 | hP mp | I |
- Air Slash of Fury. 0,63x HP, 0,03x MP, 5/10 Fury per hit. Used closer
- than the regular Kuuhazan, right on the edge of the SR field. Half of
- the hits will miss enemies with small hit boxes. Really not worth using.
- Mugen Souhazan | S135 | 12% | 20/47 | 6 | 1,3 | hP
- Double Slash of Fury. 0,63x, 5/10 Fury per Kogahazan, juggle.
- Albel constantly moves forward during the move, so walls will be a huge
- issue. The juggle can be tricky to pull off to begin with. If you're too
- close to the target when the juggle hits, they might just get knocked
- down right away. It also doesn't really combine well with other characters'
- moves. Worst of all is the furious button mashing you have to do to keep
- the move going, and you can't rely on the AI, since they just cancel it.
- I'd stay away from this one.

- Whirling Heat | Lv10 | 5% | 12/42 | 2 | 1,3 | hP
- 1,05x -> 1,5x. 2,3s (1,9s)(1,5s to hit) Effect: Confusion. A slowish
- attack that spins the enemy for a while. Can't spin enemies with boss
- benefits. Great cancel fodder for normal enemies. It spins the enemy just
- long enough for you to whip out that Raging Helmet (though you can still
- certainly get interrupted if the enemy doesn't flinch). The spinning
- effect actually ignores knockdown invincibility, which is pretty neat,
- but unfortunately the AI won't cancel from this, since there's no actual
- damage.
- Charge | Lv12 | 5% | 20/42 | 4 | 1,5 | HP
- 2,2x, 0,45s (0,4s). Some of the best HP DPS in the game. The move is so
- fast it's difficult to chain, and you likely can't avoid triggering the
- Charge bug, at least not in the PAL-version. On Disc 2, you'll want
- something with more reach and something more AI-friendly (ie. RH).
- Land Mines | Lv15 | 5% | 15/40 | 4 | 1,5 | hp
- 0,735x. After a 4,5s setup, Roger can move around while laying mines
- (4 at Lv1). The explosions do a couple of hits each and can juggle the
- enemy. Unbearably slow and, thus, an easy pass.
- No Guard | Lv16 |
- Berserk | Lv18 |
- Flying Torpedo | Lv20 | 6% | 20/57 | 4 | 2,0 | hP mP
- 2,1x HP, 0,21x MP, Fury damage. Launch at the enemy, grapple them for
- a while, then do a non-damaging hit to knock them down. If you miss,
- you'll likely end up a fair distance away from the target. While bosses
- are immune to the special stun, they can still be affected by the knockdown.
- LR-to-SR cancel fodder (although mutually exclusive with No Guard).
- Aerial | Lv21 | 5% | 20/42 | 2 | 1,5 | hP mp
- 1,5x HP, 0,1x MP, knockdown.
- Piercing Claw | Lv25 | 6% | 15/40 | 4 | 1,2 | hP mP
- 0,735x HP, 0,07x MP, 3 hits (2), 2,25s (1,65s)(1s to hit, 3 hits in 1,85s),
- Fury damage, knockdown. If you want Roger doing MP damage (not his forte),
- then this is the way to go. It can certainly do HP kills too, though.
- Fiery Fury | Lv30 | 8% | 25/57 | 4 | 1,3 | HP | E |
- 3 attacks: a 5-shot spread, a float and a homing shot. The first two
- do 0,63x, the third one does 0,96x.
- Pretty good, but just no match for Charge. I mean, you could still use
- it if you just wanted to mix things up.
- Shield & Cannon | Lv40 | 10% | 35/72 | 8 | 1,3 | hp
- 0,42x, Fury damage. Fire a bunch of missiles (3 at Lv1). 1,2s to launch.
- The high CP cost kills this one, as if the need to level it up wasn't
- bad enough. Skip canceling makes it more usable at SR, but even then
- you're better off with Charge or RH. Only with FAM can you chain it
- well at LR.
- Raging Helmet | Lv50 | 10% | 20/47 | 6 | 1,6 | HP
- 0,735x -> 1,05x, 6 hits, 3,9s (3,1s), 2,1s to start, medium area. Very nice.
- Bug Triad | MoT2 | 10% | 30/65 | 6 | 1,5 | hP mp
- 0,42x HP, 0,008x MP, ~10 hits. A few bugs follow Roger around for a while
- while shooting at the enemy on their own. Lasts 7 seconds at Lv1. Regain
- control after 2,1s. Cancel in 1,6s. You'll get more hits if Roger is hit,
- although these hits aren't affected by cancel bonus.
- I'd only use it in a defensive setup.
- Star Fall | S202 | 15% | 50/92 | 8 | 1,2 | hP mp | F |
- 0,2x HP, 0,004x MP / 0,3x HP, 0,008x MP, very large area.
- You get it very late in the game, but even if you didn't, I still wouldn't
- recommend it.
- Adray
- Normal Attacks
- Fury t1 t2
- SR | 5 | 0,37s | 0,45s |
- LR | 5 | 1,1s | 1,05s |
- SR skip cancels are tricky, since Adray's acceleration makes it hard
- to gauge the timing if you're too close.
- Adray can only set five spells as battle skills: Fire Bolt, Ice Needles,
- Lightning Blast, Earth Glaive, and Southern Cross. Might seem rather
- underwhelming, but even the basic elemental spells can do somewhat decent
- damage if you just boost Intelligence enough. Would I actually recommend
- using them for damage? Well, no, not exactly, but you *can* if you feel
- like it.
- AGain, just like with Sophia, you may have to compromise on skip-canceling
- because of the cancel multiplier reset bug.
- Charge | Def | 5% | 20/42 | 4 | 1,5 | HP MP
- 1,5x HP, 0,1x MP, 0,85s (0,4s). Not bad at all, but the lack of Berserk
- and Adray's terrible acceleration limit its potential.
- Chaos Tide | Lv20 | 6% | 20/47 | 5 | 1,5 | hp MP
- 0,525x HP, 0,155x MP, Fury damage, long distance. Quite similar to Charge,
- but the HP damage is low, and it sometimes knocks the enemy down.
- Aerial | Lv22 | 5% | 20/42 | 2 | 1,5 | HP MP
- 1,5x HP, 0,1x MP, 1,5s (0,9s). The attack covers a small area and has
- light float. So long as Adray doesn't have to move, you can use it to
- juggle the enemy. It does also mean you can't do Hyper Charge (or Hyper
- Aerial, rather). Even then, it's a nice move. Watch out for those blocks,
- though.
- Titan Fist | Lv30 | 8% | 20/47 | 6 | 2,0 | HP MP | E |
- 2,1x HP, 0,21x MP, medium area, 5,5s (2,7s), 2,4s to hit.
- Good ranged damage (when the element isn't an issue). You can't use it
- (or Sea Gate) from as far away as you want, but you can still be a fair
- distance away from the SR-LR barrier. Adray steps forward when using the
- move, so you can't start the chain with a normal attack since that takes
- you too close. The attack does have knockback, but I wouldn't rely on
- it. Then again, you'd likely want to avoid the reset bug anyway. On Disc
- 1, you can just chain it with itself, but it's not really a good idea
- on Disc 2 when there are enemies with WAH sprinkled all over the place.
- Might miss if the enemy moves too much.
- Increase MP Damage| Lv32 |
- Adray's long range normal attacks do 0,15x and 0,25x MP damage. This
- will boost them to 0,38 and 0,52.
- Berserk | Lv35 |
- Southern Cross | Lv40 | 8%M| 30/60 | 6 | 1,3 | hP MP
- The minimum 250 MP cost means you can't really use this when you first
- learn it. MP damage isn't very useful in Disc 2 main game anyway.
- No Guard | Lv46 |
- Sea Gate | Lv50 | 10% | 25/52 | 8 | 1,5 | HP MP | W |
- 1,57x HP, 0,157x MP (half for the re-entry), medium area, 2,2s (1,5s).
- Another one you can use at range. The DPS is very similar to Titan Fist,
- so just go with whichever element works better.
- Sirocco | UCT3 | 10% | 26/55 | 7 | 1,5 | hP mp | F |
- Aka Spicule. 0,525x HP, 0,03x MP. 7 hits, large area, knockdown, 12s (10s),
- 3,3s to hit. I don't think I'd recommend this one.
- Emotion Torrent | S156 | 12% | 20/47 | 8 | 1,5 | HP MP |rdm|
- 1,05x HP, 0,105x MP, 4 hits, very large area, knockdown, 5,5s (5,0s).
- Adray creates a random elemental object and tosses it at the enemy.
- The element never seems to be an element that the target will nullify
- or absorb. Skip-canceling out of the move may give you only 2 hits
- since there can only be one of the objects at a time.
- Auxiliary Battle Skills
- - These skills merely affect normal attacks (unless you take advantage
- of attribute transfer).
- Increase HP Damage (4 CP)
- Increase base HP damage multipliers. 1,5d + 0,15 -> 1,78d + 0,18.
- Eg. 1,0x HP becomes 1,65x -> 1,96x (Lv10).
- Proficiency is gained even if the attack is blocked.
- Increase MP Damage (4 CP)
- Increase base MP damage multipliers. 1,5d + 0,15 -> 1,78d + 0,18.
- Thus, attacks with no MP damage (ie. most of them) get a multiplier of
- 0,15x -> 0,18x.
- Increase HP/MP Damage (Mildewed Tome) (2 CP)
- Increase base HP and MP damage multipliers. 1,3d + 0,13 -> 1,58d + 0,16.
- 1,0x HP becomes 1,43x -> 1,74x. 0x MP becomes 0,13x -> 0,16x MP.
- Loot Item (Dated Tome) (2 CP)
- When knocked down, the enemy has a very low chance of dropping the item
- that they normally drop when defeated.
- Critical Hit (2 CP)
- Chance of dealing a critical hit which deals ~1,3x damage and may stun the
- enemy. The activation rate is initially low, but increases substantially
- if you level it up (the stun chance will always be *very* low, though).
- The Stun skill is clearly more useful, though, and the activation rates
- are the same. The only advantage Critical Hit has is that you can increase
- the activation rate with equipment.
- Stun (2 CP)
- Chance of inflicting Stun. At Lv10, the activation rate is around 25%.
- Mainly of use when using attribute transfer with Fuujin and Gravity Bullet,
- although even then you're probably better off with IHPD.
- Drain (Musty Tome) (2 CP)
- Chance of dropping the enemy's Fury to 50%.
- Increase Stamina (Crumbling Tome) (2 CP)
- Fury consumption is reduced.
- Fear (2 CP)
- Supposed to make the enemy less likely to attack, but it apparently has
- little to no effect.
- Support Skills
- First Aid (1 CP)
- Chance to heal 20% HP when taking physical HP damage (ignores Convert
- Damage). At Lv10, it activates about 10% of the time. Worth using if you
- max it out (and actually have the CP to spare). Otherwise, it's not very
- significant.
- Critical Hit HP (2 CP)
- Chance to increase physical HP damage by 50%. Does *not* have a chance
- of stunning the enemy. At Lv1, the activation rate is about 3%. At Lv10,
- it activates about a third of the time, thus essentially increasing
- damage by 17%. Pretty nice, but you often can't use it with No Guard.
- Learned by: Mirage, Nel, Sophia, Fayt, Cliff, Adray, Roger.
- Critical Hit MP (2 CP)
- Chance to increase MP damage by 20%. No effect on attacks with no MP damage.
- The increase is rather insignificant, so I wouldn't use this.
- Learned by: Maria, Peppita, Albel.
- Quick Symbol (Brittle Tome) (3 CP) (Sophia and Adray only)
- Reduce casting time by half. Keep in mind, the actual casting time is
- only part of the spell-casting process and overlaps with some of the
- animation. As such, spells with a short casting time to begin with don't
- really see much of an improvement.
- Max Fury (Moldy Tome) (2 CP) (All but Sophia and Adray)
- The character may instantly recover all Fury when resting. A nice one
- for the AI, but No Guard is more important.
- No Guard (5 CP)
- The character will not flinch when taking physical damage if the damage
- received is less than 1/15 (6,66%) of cHP. The character will never
- flinch from an attack that only deals MP damage. Convert Damage is not
- taken into account.
- Quite an essential skill when using slower moves or when fighting force-
- resistant enemies, especially in the NTSC-versions, since they don't
- have skip-cancel. With a Blue Talisman, it's possible to resist flinching
- even when your HP isn't high enough.
- Common Support Symbols (Decrepit Tome) (2 CP)
- Equipping this allows the character to cast Healing and Antidote during
- battle (they can always cast them in the menu). There's Silence too, but
- there are few cases where it's worth using.
- There are only four Decrepit Tomes, so choose carefully. I give one to
- Maria and possibly Fayt just so I can heal Poison more easily early in
- the game.
- Lucky Star (Damaged Tome) (2 CP)
- When taking physical damage, a little star may come falling down. Catching
- it before it hits the ground will fill the BBG by 30%. You'll need to use
- this if you want to level up faster and you're starting battles with
- 0% BBG growth. The best way is to equip No Guard and fight the Porcupine
- type enemies.
- Standby Healing (1 CP)
- While resting, the character heals some HP every 4 seconds. 20 at Lv1,
- 400 at Lv10. Moving halts the time counter but doesn't reset it. The
- skill can only gain 8 points of proficiency in a given battle.
- I never use this, as the amount of healing is simply too little.
- Increase MP (Fading Tome) (3 CP)
- Increase MP by 40%. (Sophia and Adray only)
- Common Attack Symbols (Worm-Eaten Tome)
- Allows the character to cast Fire Bolt, Ice Needles and Earth Glaive.
- Worthless.

- (Flare Bottle 2.0). The DFP penalty generally makes little difference.
- Scan Enemy
- Show the enemy's HP, MP and dropped item. Also gives a vague description
- of their elemental resistance.
- Taunt
- Try to get the enemy's attention so that they'll target you. Largely
- ineffective on 4D.
- Convert Damage (Tattered Tome)
- Converts either HP or MP damage to the other. Mainly worth using when
- the enemy does HP damage only.
- Preserve HP: HP dmg / 7 -> MP dmg
- Preserve MP: MP dmg * 13 -> HP dmg
- Combat Training (Decayed Tome)
- Enemies killed by the character give 40% more Exp, but the character's
- Fury use triples.
- Cure Condition (Deteriorating Tome)
- Poison damage is halved during battle. Paralysis, Freeze and Stun last
- only half as long. DFP is multiplied by 0,8.
- Normal Attacks
- - This list is mostly a formality, seeing as most normal attacks aren't
- worth using.
- - The odds of doing Fury damage are in the 25-40% range. Eg. Nel's
- SR F does Fury damage about 30% of the time, whereas Roger's SLR F
- does it about 40% of the time.
- - Fayt recovers faster from his Ae C if you tilt the analog stick in
- any direction
- - Nel's follow-up attacks require switching targets.
- - Nel's SR bomb attack is triggered when there are more than two enemies
- nearby.
- - Peppita's counters are triggered if her target is attacking her when
- she uses a short range attack.
- - Peppita's Ct C can do 4 hits, but often only does 1.
- - If Sophia's long range attacks are interrupted no sooner than halfway

- Battle Trophy Help
- - A lot of this is already found in the walkthrough, but I figured I'd
- also compile the BT stuff in its own section.
- Item Received 10 Consecutive Times (BT-268)
- - Just trigger a Nobleman's Spare Me in 10 battles in a row. They use
- it when between 20%-50% health.
- 500 Consecutive Successful Guards (BT-264)
- - You can easily get this by blocking a slime enemy's Bio Bullet. If
- you're close enough, you'll block all 16 shots. The slimes use Bio
- Bullet when they're either at full health or below 30% health.
- 300 Hits (BT-016)
- - The Insect Lords fight at the Arena is ideal for this one. Equip weaker
- weapons to avoid killing them too quickly.
- Chain of 500 (BT-028)
- 500 Consecutive Battles Alone (BT-252)
- - 'Chain' refers to a Bonus Battle Chain.
- - Do these two at the same time on Disc 2 before Adray and Mirage join
- your party. Do it in the Ruins of Coffir, specifically in the area east
- of the first area. Use Cliff with Fiery Tackle. Put him in slot 2, so
- he'll start battles near the "bottom" of the battlefield. That way he'll
- target the Thief when there's a Thief and a Nobleman. Always take out
- the Thief first. If you somehow happen to take out the Nobleman first
- instead and the Thief comes at you, just stay still and wait. The kill
- just brought you to 100% Fury, so if the Thief uses a fast blockable,
- you'll just block it.
- - The whole thing will take about three hours, so do have something
- playing in the background. I'd go with HoloLive.
- Fight Over 120 Minutes (BT-297)
- - You can get this while you're auto-leveling First Aid.
- Win by a Margin of 5~1 HP (BT-047~051)
- - This refers to the total amount of HP your party has at the end of
- battle (before post-battle recovery).
- - These are easy if you have Adray or Peppita at default level. You
- need to adjust their DFP, so they'll only take 1 pod from the enemies
- on Vanguard III. Give Peppita an Elven Cloak and a Charm of Insight
- (or refine the Elven Cloak once) to get her to 19 DFP (Young Slimes
- have 20 ATP) or give Adray two Yellow Talismans to get him to 39 DFP
- (Scumbags have 40 ATP). Save the game once you're close, since finishing
- a battle will trigger post-battle recovery. Just load the game after
- getting one.
- Win with All Allies Paralyzed (BT-045)
- - The Rabbit Ears Chalice method is the easiest one (ie. use the Konami
- code to blow yourself up while paralyzed).
- - If you missed the chalice, you can either wait until the next play-
- through or you can use an alternate method. One such method uses a
- poisoned Fire Zombie in Round 1 of Single Battle - Rank D at the Arena.
- Use a character around Lv50 with a Fire-elemental weapon (or Cliff with
- Fiery Tackle) and keep healing the zombie until it paralyzes you with his
- normal blockable. It's not very likely to paralyze you, and you need to
- try and avoid blocking. You need to get paralyzed while his HP is below
- 3376, so use Scan Enemy to keep track of his HP.
- Win with All Allies Frozen (BT-046)
- - Use Nel's Lightning Chain on the Yuan-ti in Round 1 of Single Battle -
- Rank C at the Arena. Launch it just as the Yuan-ti casts Ice Needles.
- Get it close to death, but not too close, since the Lightning Chain will
- hit it once or twice before you get hit by Ice Needles, which you hopefully
- won't interrupt.
- Hit with Battle Sphere 5 Times (BT-295)
- - Here's a tricky one. You have a small chance of triggering the BT
- by hitting a large boulder with a Battle Sphere. I don't think I've
- ever seen it get triggered by the smaller boulders. Create a separate
- save file in the Kirlsa Caverns, so you can give it a shot every now
- and then.
- Remain With Fury 15 Consecutive Times (BT-232)
- - Synth a weapon with Ori and an Illegitimate Book then go get killed
- by the Porcupines. You should load the game afterwards to get your
- synth kits back.
- 50 000 Battles (BT-005)
- - Likely the last BT you'll obtain if you're going for 300. You can
- certainly reach it (semi-)organically if you just keep doing more
- playthroughs and fight lots of battles. You could easily get 5000
- battles in a single playthrough if you're diligent. No need for Exp
- boosts. Use a different party in each playthrough to mix things up.
- - If you're just going to grind it (by triggering a battle and running
- away), you don't want to do it too soon (because of the next two BTs).
- Anyway, you can get 100 battles in 22,5 minutes. *Unless*... the game
- crashes on you. Whenever I've tried this kind of simple farming on my
- SCPH-39004, the game has crashed on me after 3-20 minutes. I'd only
- ever gotten one crash on this PS2 before that. If I actually finish
- the battle, it seems okay. I also tried it on an SCPH-90004, and it
- was fine. Anyway, if you do 100 battles a day, it'll take you more
- than a year (25k in 94h).
- 1 000 000 Button Presses (BT-054)
- Defeat 50 000 Enemies (BT-037)
- - These are the most time-consuming BTs after 50 000 battles. However,
- if you grind yourself to 50 000 battles too early, you're not going to
- get these.
- 77 777 Damage (BT-244)
- - The best manual method involves fighting the Bullfrog Beasts and
- Spawns on Sphere L182-191. You'd be using Lv10 Magnetic Field at 175%
- (Rad Bots as fodder) with an ATP of around 7350. A Dragoon Laser with
- three BoPs works fine. Use the Guard formation with Maria in the first
- slot. Max Fury also helps a bit. The Gutsy Bunny is pretty safe to use
- here (mainly need to watch out for Stinking Gas).
- - The auto method involves a stunned and petrified Red Dragon that's
- constantly healed by the other two characters. If an enemy is petrified
- while stunned, the stun doesn't wear off. Mirage, Cliff, Peppita or
- Adray with max ATP will be in the right damage range. There's really no
- way to make it work without an auto-fire controller, either because of
- Fury damage (in the case of Mirage, Cliff and Adray) or too much damage
- (in the case Peppita).
- - You CANNOT use elemental weakness to your advantage for this BT. The
- elemental variable is the last part of the damage calculation. As such,
- exploiting an elemental weakness will only produce even damage figures.
- Recover 77 777 HP (BT-235)
- - You're all but guaranteed to hit one of the figures in the chart
- below when going through post-game Sphere. Once you do, just multiply
- your HP (with Star Talismans and possibly a Health(+) Berry), and use
- the appropriate healing method.
