  1. How 2 align fucky sights - or "the blind leading the blind"
  2. prototype version, please don't shoot me
  3.
  4. Before starting: make sure you
  5. - are running Debug Anomaly 1.5 Beta 3.0 Update 3
  6. - have Draw Crosshair and Toggle Aim turned on
  7. - do not have a `gamedata/configs/temp_hud.ltx` file (if you do, back it up and move it away, or delete it)
  8. - are running the game in 16x9 aspect ratio and Anomaly's default FOV value (this can alter results otherwise)
  9.
  10. Start a new game for testing purposes. Doesn't matter what faction/mode/settings. Press F7 to access the Debug shortcuts HUD. Here, enable God mode, enable Infinite Ammo, change the weather to your liking. Open the Spawner menu (F7 -> 4).
  11.
  12. Double click on the category of weapon to spawn. Click on the guns you want in your inventory. Do not select unique or alternate variants, only do basic guns for now. Press Escape to leave the spawner menu. Now equip the weapon you want to align. Press F7 -> 3 to go to the Weapon HUD menu. Press Escape to exit it right away. This will now cause a white crosshair dot to persist on the screen when you ADS, this will be our center
  13.
  14. IMPORTANT: If you're wearing a helmet/mask that causes the Mask Overlay to appear, TAKE IT OFF.
  15. Mask Overlay shifts the whole screen slightly off to the left. If you have it on, all your measurements will be wrong.
  16. Alternatively, keep your helmet on, but make sure you turn off the "Mask Overlay" visual effect in the Extra menu.
  17.
  18. Aim down your sights. Go to F7 -> 3 again. The main value you want to edit in most cases (*in my opinion*) is Aim Orientation. You can get to it with the arrow keys on your keyboard, or with your mouse. You can change the numbers with NumPad2/NumPad8 (hold Shift for larger increments) - or just change the numbers manually. Aim Orientation alone is not always enough. For example, if you notice a gun is crooked (ie your character is not pointing down range at the center of your vision), you may need to alter Aim Position as well. An example of this is some of the AK's. You may notice it looks like your character is holding them slightly out of the corner of their eye, instead of centered on your eye, if that makes sense.
  19.
  20. Mess around with the values until you get the white crosshair dot sitting on top of the sight, ideally with half of the white circle out of the sight, and half of the white circle inside the sight. Once you're satisfied with a gun's sight alignment, click on `Save to current file`. This will save your values to `gamedata/configs/temp_hud.ltx` which is what we want for testing purposes and gathering the correct values. Don't worry, it will not get overwritten if you do multiple weapons in one session, they will all just accumulate in the same file.
