  1. [INTRODUCTION / SETTINGS]
  2. - Having the game installed on the console hard drive is fastest for both OG Xbox and Xbox 360.
  3. - OG Xbox will play the game at the best possible frame rate and is not prone to crashing at all.
  4. - The 360 emulation struggles to maintain a decent frame rate, suffers from audio and video glitches, and is more prone to random crashes.
  5. - If you cannot install the game onto your console hard drive, you're obviously limited to disc and will likely be unable to run competitively.
  6. - Profiles have a 5 save slot limit so you will have to play through parts of the game several times just to make practice saves.
  7. - Enabling/Disabling Guildmaster Help was an option introduced in The Lost Chapters and is not present in OG.
  8. - The only capture quality requirement is that the game is visible for the entire run. Dropped frames / video stutters are understandable; it happens sometimes. :)
  9. - Gameplay settings: Subtitles and Tutorials need to be turned off to make mashing through dialogue faster and disable extra pop ups. Everything else should be configured per your own preference.
  10.
  11. [GAME LANGUAGE]
  12. - Game language can be changed by setting the Microsoft Xbox dashboard language to the applicable game language, though the game copy will need the appropriate language data to run in the set language.
  13. - You can check the languages the game has by changing your console language, or browsing the installed game data if your Xbox is modded and the game is installed onto the hard drive.
  14. - Prison Dialogue Times in Different Languages Are
  15. - French: 3:16.06
  16. - Russian: 3:34.00
  17. - German: 3:36.31
  18. - Spanish: 3:40.45
  19. - Japanese: 3:40.79
  20. - Italian: 3:46.53
  21. - English: 3:50.23
  22.
  23. [BEFORE YOU START]
  24. - When making a profile for runs, make sure the game is freshly booted and immediately Hero Save after making the profile.
  25. - Get a feel for the core movement tech by rolling in laps around Oakvale. This won't be mastered overnight and is understandably more difficult on Xbox than on PC.
  26. - When resetting, quit to the main menu rather than loading directly via Load Game (this can cause piss man to wander).
  27. - If piss man wanders anyway, make a new profile and try again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  28. - Do not reset unless you know your run is irredeemable, especially if you are just starting to run the game.
  29. - ATTRIBUTES
  30. - Physique increases physical damage output. Aeons is OP, but it can be better >:)
  31. - Speed increases rolling speed as well as attack speed.
  32. - Accuracy is increases your bow damage, and reduces the jitter of your crosshair in "FPS mode".
  33. - Magic Power increases your mana pool. Willmaster's Elixirs also do this, but increase it LESS than a Magic Power upgrade does.
  34.
  35. [CHILDHOOD]
  36. - Run timing starts when you press A to dismiss the first text box and gain control of your character. You can use a -3.00 second start timer to make this easier to manage.
  37. - Go backwards, roll to Bully, punch 4 times and make sure the camera is facing towards the stone wall. When the Bully runs off camera / into you, the other kid's dialogue should iniate. PRESS A TO SKIP THESE LINES!
  38. - Straight down hill, give teddy bear to girl by speaking to her, or hold Right Trigger and pressing Up on the D-Pad which is marginally faster.
  39. - Speak to Brom, then speak with cheating husband behind the house.
  40. - Accept bribe (Guards will now chase you when you are nearby - if caught, this loses ~3-5 seconds)
  41. - Speak to Trader and get Chocolates, straight towards Theresa
  42. - Hit B to say no, then mash A to give her the Chocolates (saves 1 second)
  43. - Follow path to Brom, finishes quest
  44.
  45. [GUILD TRAINING]
  46. - Guild is a little bit more difficult to roll in, make your way to Guildmaster.
  47. - Use your Stick on the beetles, don't swing randomly, try to get as many in a single hit as possible.
  48. - Attack phase of melee: 3 hits, move Forward 4 hits.
  49. - Block phase : Hard target with L Trigger helps a lot here! Roll-Block-Roll-Block-Roll-Block-Block-Roll-Block.
  50. - Fight = 3 hits, wait for Whisper (she will flip forwards or backwards, RNG), 4 hits.
  51. - Ranged: After hitting Dummies, during test hit Guildmaster 4x with Bow.
  52. - Will: CAST LIGHTNING TO START THE TIMER, then hit the Guildmaster 4x with Bow.
  53. - Maze: Sword = Hit 7x, Arrows = Hit 7x, Lightning = Hit 7x.
  54. - When you reach Lightning phase, keep your bow out and hard target Maze immediately by holding Left Trigger and do not move from the spot you're in.
  55. - ★ Upgrade: Assassin Rush 1 ★
  56. - ★ Assassin Rush grants I-frames, will attempt to zip you behind targeted living NPCs when possible. ★
  57.
  58. [WASP MENACE]
  59. - Take "Wasp Menace", leave Guild.
  60. - Movement = Rush then roll, get a feel for the timing.
  61. - When moving in a direction, you will Rush in that direction. When stationary, you will Rush in the direction you're facing, or towards the nearest living target.
  62. - Go to Picnic Area.
  63. - Zap First 2 Wasps, then Use the sword on the rest.
  64. - Charge Bow while Wasp Queen is summoning wasps.
  65. - Making sure she doesn't strafe to your left will make sure she spawns Wasps sooner than later.
  66. - You can roll while continuing to hold X to dodge oncoming Wasps that fly over the sundial.
  67. - Wait for her to spawn more wasps (health threshold), then finish with sword.
  68.
  69. [PROTECT ORCHARD FARM]
  70. - Sell Health Potions and Resurrection Phials.
  71. - Buy Will Potions, Fishing Rod, and Spade.
  72. - Speak to Maze, sell Yew Longbow, buy Oak Longbow.
  73. - Port back to Guild.
  74. - Take Protect Orchard Farm + Boast, head to Orchard Farm (Greatwood Lake Entrance).
  75. - In Greatwood Entrance, pick up Willmaster's Elixir from chest. Health and Will potions can be picked up for safety as well.
  76. - Protect Orchard Farm is going to be the first tough part of the run. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
  77. - 3 waves of 3 Bandits. Melee Bandits have 200 HP and need 2 shots, Archers have 150 HP and can be OHKO'd.
  78. - Use Lightning and Arrows on Guards repeatedly in between waves to sustain the multiplier
  79. - Kill Guards after killing all 9 Bandits, try to collect all experience orbs.
  80. - Attack Whisper and land a Flourish to initialize her health bar.
  81. - If your Combat Multiplier drops a number, your Flourish will disappear until Whisper blocks you again.
  82. - After landing a Flourish on Whisper, use your bow as she will never block your arrows here.
  83. - Combat Multiplier goal is 11, though 10 will suffice.
  84.
  85. [AEONS CLIP]
  86. - Go to Greatwood Cullis Gate. Hard target and zap toll bandit to bypass dialogue trigger. warp to Guild, take Trader Escort.
  87. - ★ Upgrades: Physique 1/2, Speed 2, Summon 1, Assassin Rush 2, Berserk 1, Magic Power 1 ★
  88. - If you lack experience for all upgrades at a point, there are priorities depending on the situation. Here, you NEED Summon, and will want to focus on Speed, Rush, and Berserk. Physique and Magic Power can be put on hold if needed.
  89. - ★ Berserk temporarily buffs Physique, allowing you to deal more physical damage, and in most cases your hits will be unblockable. ★
  90. - ★ Also, taking damage while Berserked will increase the damage buff by a set percentage. ★
  91. - ★ ALSO ALSO, Berserk buffs your Speed, allowing you to attack and roll much faster than normal, allowing 2 rolls before Assassin Rush's cooldown has concluded. ★
  92. - ★ ALSO ALSO ALSO, Berserk makes you temporarily unkillable. ★
  93. - Go to Chamber of Fate, clip into floor for Sword of Aeons (guide in video description).
  94.
  95. [TRADER ESCORT]
  96. - Summon transfer in GWCG depends on spawns. Hobbes: good. Bandits: good. Wasps: BAD. Beetles: IRREDEEMABLE. If Wasps or Beetles are in this zone, get a Hobbe summon in Greatwood Caves
  97. - Press A to let the infected trader follow you. Barrel on the left has a Will Potion, and barrel on right has a Red Meat for safety.
  98. - If feeling unsafe, you can use Lightning on the exploding spores in Darkwood Marshes.
  99. - Kill two of the traders at Darkwood Camp to make refollow take less time (Red hat and infected are usually faster than yellow hat, but it varies)
  100. - Once you see the dot representing your sole trader turns around, you can press on
  101. - Don't be Berserked when entering Darkwood Weir, or your trader will be too scared to follow you to the Earth troll
  102. - Use Berserk and melee / just melee if you don't have mana + Will potions to down the troll
  103.
  104. [FIND THE BANDIT SEERESS]
  105. - There should be plenty of daylight left, but if not, sleep, then dig and eat the Golden Carrot from the stone circle on the hill.
  106. - Speak to general trader (shop with bag sign) and buy maximum Will Potions (the game might not buy 1, don't worry about it).
  107. - Speak to Maze, then go to Clifftop Path, summon clip the first gate
  108. - Once reaching Twinblade's Camp, use the Cullis Gate to warp back to Guild
  109. - Take Find the Bandit Seeress quest, and go back to Twinblade's Camp.
  110. - Summon clip camp gate.
  111. - If you're not comfortable with your second Camp clip, you can kill bandit by barrels or pub game guy for a Bandit Pass
  112. - If you're not comfortable with your third Camp clip, you can free the hostages to open the Tent gate
  113.
  114. [TWINBLADE FIGHT]
  115. - Rush behind him and attack him so he faces towards the tent (his health bar will initialize on its own)
  116. - Rush behind him and poke him, then roll backwards twice so you're in the middle of the circle
  117. - Rush behind him again when he is in the middle, poke him again, go Berserk and cancel the animation
  118. - Let him hit you twice, Rush behind him and poke again
  119. - Try to Rush behind him a final time when he jams his swords in the ground, and hit his back (should 1 shot with the 2 hits you took in Berserk)
  120. - Skip cutscenes, leave the Tent region, Seal Buffer back to the Guild out of the autosave
  121.
  122. [FIND THE ARCHAEOLOGIST]
  123. - Guild trader: sell your Oak Longbow and buy Will Potions
  124. - Speak to Maze, Seal Buffer to Witchwood Cullis Gate
  125. - Clipping the HITS demon door is faster than opening normally by 5-8 seconds, so if you're not comfortable with it, just hit the stones H, I, T, S.
  126.
  127. [WHITE BALVERINE]
  128. - Head to Knothole Glade, port to Guild on arrival
  129. - Take White Balverine quest
  130. - ★ Upgrades: Physique 3, Multi Strike 1, Physical Shield 2 ★
  131. - ★ Multi Strike behaves differently in OG than in TLC / Anniv, and does not disable Combat Multiplier gains, and will also be killed by cutscenes and zone transitions. ★
  132. - Balverines will die to 1 Berserk + Multi Strike hit, try not to let them slip past you; it's embarrassing and slow :,(
  133. - ★ Balverines will not spawn if the spawn point is in the camera frame ★
  134. - Use Lightning on White Balverine to increase the hit counter, and hit him at jump points to skip howl animation
  135. - When you hit 5 hits on last counter, just move yourself to get WB off screen to trigger the cutscene
  136. - Go to Witchwood Lake
  137. - Try to force WB away from the lake
  138. - Use 3 Berserk + Multi Strike hits on WB to next phase, then use regular attacks to finish him off
  139. - Use Super Flourishes (10CM+) to kill the regular Balverines, collect experience orbs, then warp back to Knothole Glade
  140. - Talk to Chief, Seal Buffer to Guild out of autosave.
  141.
  142. [WELCOME TO THE ARENA]
  143. - This is going to be the hardest part of the run to do fast, but Aeons will help you tremendously in making it at least doable.
  144. - Take quest, ★ Upgrades: Force Push 2, Magic Power 3 ★
  145. - ★ Force Push will be used to build up Combat Multiplier off of nearby corpses. The more corpses around, the more the Multiplier will increase by. ★
  146. - Warp to Knothole Glade and go to the Arena.
  147. - Buy the Arena traders Will Potions
  148. - Bind Will Potions, Spade, and Fishing Rod to your D-Pad shortcuts via the Quick Menu
  149. - (Optional) Walk Al to the cot to make speaking with him to enter the Arena faster
  150. - ★ You want to keep your Physical Shield up AT ALL TIMES to prevent taking damage and losing your Combat Multiplier. ★
  151. ★★ Strategies which require standing in the blade traps are risky due to a seemingly random chance of the trap dealing more damage than it should. ★★
  152. ★★ They also REQUIRE Physical Shield 2, and Magic Power 3. The increased mana bar from 1 Willmaster's Elixir does not equal a Magic Power upgrade and is not sufficient if you only have Magic Power 2. ★★
  153.
  154. [WASP ROUND]
  155. - Melee
  156. - ★ Make sure all Wasps are dead on the ground before Force Pushing ★
  157.
  158. [HOBBE ROUND]
  159. - Berserk + Melee
  160.
  161. [BALVERINE ROUND]
  162. - Waves 1 + 2 - Use Berserk + Multi Strike to OHKO the regular Balverines
  163. - Waves 3 + 4 - Use regular melee attacks against the White Balverines as they should never block you
  164. ★★ If feeling ballsy, utilizing the damage boosting effect of Berserk in the blade traps can expedite killing one White Balverine per
  165. round. THIS IS ONLY RECOMMENDED FOR RUNNERS OPTIMIZING THEIR TIME, NOT BEGINNERS ★★
  166. - ★ Talk to Whisper when the announcer starts talking to skip the dialogue and go to the next round every round from here ★
  167.
  168. [UNDEAD ROUND]
  169. - Wave 1 can be downed with Berserk melee
  170. - Wave 2 has 4 leaders with 1000 HP and require Multi Strike
  171. ★★ Taking one hit in Berserk will increase your damage enough to OHKO them without Multi Strike★★
  172. - Wave 3 has 4 Assassins with 1100 HP, and 4 Elite Bandits with 1500 HP, requiring Multi Strike
  173. ★★ Taking 2 hits in the middle of the blade trap should allow you to OHKO them with Berserk melee ★★
  174. - Wave 4 has 4 Elite Archers with 600 HP
  175. - The Elite Leaders have 1600 HP, requiring Multi Strike
  176. ★★ Taking 2 hits in the middle of the blade trap should allow you to OHKO them with Berserk melee ★★
  177.
  178. [EARTH TROLL ROUND]
  179. - Berserk and Multi Strike, EZ PZ
  180.
  181. [ROCK TROLL ROUND]
  182. - For beginners, go Berserk as soon as the announcer says "GO"
  183. - Assassin Rush behind the first troll, and attack
  184. - ★ Use Assassin Rush at any time before it completes it's looking around animation to force it into repeating it. ★
  185. - Repeat for second troll
  186.
  187. ★★ Going Berserk when the announcer reaches "1" and standing in the middle of the blade trap for 3 hits total should allow you to
  188. dispatch both Trolls in 1 or almost dispatch them in 1 Berserk cycle ★★
  189.
  190. [ARACHANOX ROUND]
  191. - I have an outdated video guide on this fight for TLC that I'll include in the description, but it shouldn't be too necessary for OG.
  192. - Hit the thing until he burrows, then kill the things and wait for Arachanox to resurface, rinse and repeat until it dies.
  193. ★ Try to keep Whisper / your summon creature away from Arachanox as he's dying - hits they land will count as the killing blow and
  194. you'll not be rewarded any experience points. ★
  195.
  196. [WHISPER]
  197. - Use Assassin Rush to zip behind her every time your Berserk strikes knock her down
  198. - If you're lucky, you'll push past a health threshold and end the fight.
  199. - If after 2/3 hits and her health is the same, let her jump away, let her begin to throw a bomb at you, then Rush towards her and
  200. land a finishing strike.
  201. - Leave through the door
  202.
  203. [RESCUE THE ARCHAEOLOGIST]
  204. - You survived the hardest part of the run! There's only a bunch of movement, some small encounters, and 3 boss fights left!
  205. - Warp to Barrow Fields, go to Grey House, Seal buffer back to Guild out of autosave
  206. - Take quest, ★ Upgrade goals: Physique 5/6, Speed 7, Accuracy 5/6/7, Multi Strike 3, Physical Shield 3, Berserk 3, Assassin Rush 4, Multi Arrow 4, Magic Power 6/7 ★
  207. - ★ Multi Arrow will be needed for an optimal Kraken and Jack fight, and can come in handy for Maze as well. ★
  208. - Warp to Bowerstone South, go to Bowerstone North, buy Master Longbow and Will Potions (if you're not confident in your count)
  209. - Do quest as intended
  210. - You can Rush on the Prison Path dock in this version!
  211.
  212. [THE GRAVEYARD PATH]
  213. - Go to Lychfield
  214. - ★ GRAB NOSTRO'S HELMET FROM SHELF BEFORE TALKING TO THE GRAVEKEEPER ★
  215. - ★ The Guild Seal can flash the experience icon and take priority over the Spade and Fishing Rod icons in the context sensitive items. This is why you bound them in the Arena Waiting Room. ★
  216. - Red Light, Green Light fish should never cause you to snap your line unless you're greedy. The game will only accept so many inputs at a time, find a good rhythm to press A in.
  217. - Kill the Undead General in Old Graveyard Path to trigger the door to Circle of the Dead
  218. - ★ Undead are invulnerable outside of the circle. You need to kill 8 small ones before the 3 Lieutenants will spawn. ★
  219.
  220. [ESCAPE FROM BARGATE PRISON]
  221. - Movement can be tricky due to constant Undead spawns
  222. - Take right path in Cliffside Path
  223. - Pick up Scarlet Robe, make your way back
  224. - ★ The voice acted dialogue while in the Cell Block is why the game is faster in languages other than English. ★
  225. - Wait, race, sneaking minigame, rinse and repeat.
  226. - After getting the key in your second year, pick up Missing Belongings from Barracks.
  227. - In Torture Chamber, you're already targeting the lever for the cell door, so hit A once, then roll left towards exit.
  228. - Multi Arrow will be the way to quickly dispatch the Kraken tentacles.
  229. - First face phase can be cleared with regular melee attacks, and the second can be done with Multi Arrow
  230. - Seal buffer out of autosave to Barrow Fields, make your way to Ancient Cullis Gate
  231.
  232. [RETURN TO HOOK COAST]
  233. - Use Berserk + Melee to dispatch the Undead, try to kill bigger Undead to fill the bar faster
  234. - Go to Abbey in Hook Coast, then warp to Guild
  235. - Go to Maze's tower, collect the book, then speak to Guildmaster before going back to Hook Coast
  236. - Maze fight: first runs can be done casually as a quick fight is MEGA hard to do on Xbox
  237. - Tutorial will be in description regardless
  238. - You can finish Maze's last phase next to marital home from Lighthouse with Multi Arrow
  239. - Seal buffer out of autosave and go back to Guild
  240.
  241. [TRY TO STOP JACK OF BLADES]
  242. - Movement and enemy spawn RNG
  243.
  244. [BATTLE JACK OF BLADES]
  245. - Use Berserk + Melee to dispatch the minions
  246. - When they're all dead, Jack will drop his barrier and you can attack him
  247. - Use Force Push to push him away from the middle to avoid him glitching out the second phase
  248. - Use Multi Arrow to finish him off. If he glitched, you'll probably have to reload the auto save unless you have Enflame 3/4.
  249. - Timing ends upon the screen fading to black after skipping the scene after killing/saving Theresa.
