RoPing Privacy Policy

RoPing is a free Chrome extension that helps Roblox players choose the best server by displaying real datacenter location, estimated ping, FPS, lag rating, and friend presence for each available server.

WHAT ROPING ACCESSES

Roblox API access
RoPing makes requests to Roblox's public APIs (friends, presence, server lookup, gamejoin) using your browser's normal session. RoPing never reads, stores, copies, or transmits your Roblox username, password, account ID, or any login credentials. Authentication is handled by your browser, not by RoPing.

Server location data
When viewing a game's server list, RoPing requests each server's IP address from Roblox's own join API (the same endpoint used by the Roblox client when you click "Join"). These IP addresses are matched against a built-in list of Roblox datacenter locations to display each server's city. Server IPs are public network endpoints and contain no personal information.

Approximate user location
To estimate ping distance from you to game servers, RoPing sends a single request to a third-party geolocation service (ipapi.co, with ipinfo.io as an automatic fallback if the first service is unavailable). These services return your approximate country and coordinates based on your public IP address. Your IP address is sent only to the geolocation service, not to RoPing's developer or any other party. The result is processed locally in your browser. No precise location is requested.

Local storage
RoPing stores the following on your device only, using Chrome's local storage API:
- Your light/dark mode preference
- Your "hide laggy servers" filter setting
- A cache of IP-prefix-to-city mappings to reduce repeated API calls

This locally stored data never leaves your device.

WHAT ROPING DOES NOT COLLECT

- Personal information (name, email address, age, identification number)
- Browsing history
- Passwords or login credentials
- Financial information
- Keystrokes, clicks, mouse position, or any user input data
- Health information
- Personal communications

DATA SHARING

RoPing does not sell, transfer, or share any user data with third parties. RoPing has no backend servers, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising.

The only network requests RoPing makes are to:
- *.roblox.com (Roblox's own APIs, for server lookup, friends, and presence)
- ipapi.co (geolocation, primary)
- ipinfo.io (geolocation, fallback)

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Material changes will be noted in the extension's changelog on the Chrome Web Store.
