- Storage Mode
- Hold the "Volume +" button down while pressing the Power button once. Continue holding the "Volume +" button until you hear the system chime, then release and wait. The Steam Deck should boot into the BIOS menu within a couple minutes. Choose Battery storage mode, and confirm. https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/4C18-08B5-DEC9-3AF4

- During formatting, the Deck runs f3probe on the SD card to check if it's fake. This message will appear usually if the SD card is detected as fake - that is, it reports a higher capacity than it actually is. You should try to return those cards and buy real ones. This protects you from complete disaster as fake SD cards will start overwriting your data once they fill their true capacity. Ie. if it's a 1TB fake card with a 256GB real capacitychttps://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/zvvrae/sd_cards_always_fail_validation_and_wont_format/
- That download is syncing your shader cache. Steam preloads shaders that other players compile while paying steam games on Linux, which makes the game run smoother. But it should only do this when there’s actually new shaders being generated, and something appears to be broken for this for some players/games. For me, it will redownload every shader every time I reboot, even if they were just downloaded a minute ago: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/10285 Hopefully valve fixes this bug, it kills your data if you have a cap. https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/1c07vj8/apex_legends_has_a_2gb_download_every_time_i_exit/

- For anyone wondering why Steam just doesn't add it to standard Proton, they legally can't. The codecs are software patent protected with licensing models which are just straight up incompatible with the free distribution of Proton. They can't pay the patent license even if they wanted to in other words. https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/18wjrwk/can_anyone_explain_to_me_what_this_is_it_also/

- Mods hurting SteamDeck
- A lot of people upgrade their SSD in them, not following clear instructions, and some place a different SSD that can cause other parts of the system to overheat because the 2242 SSDs are cheaper than the 2230 models. So, all I am saying is that this can have a different cause of the failure.

- You can't disable updates fully. If steam knows a game has an update, it will not let you play it until that update is installed no matter what. Just something to keep in mind if you set it to update on launch, if you go offline it will tell you you can't play the game until you go online and update. https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/wnpf48/disable_autoupdate_by_default/?rdt=37636

- The top/bottom borders are a result of the game only supporting 16:9, but the Steam Deck screen being 16:10. In some cases, games will offer 800p, which fits nicely, but a lot of the time it's just a 720p image with borders. There are third-party mods for some games that address this, but not for all.

- I found that the information of Bluetooth is stored in the /var partition in desktop mode (a partition is a piece of the storage on the deck). When your /var partition is full, you can’t add any Bluetooth devices because it doesn’t have the space to write in the Bluetooth portion of the /var partition. What I’ve found is by clearing up some space, you’re able to add new Bluetooth devices! https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/1himlgx/for_anyone_whos_bluetooth_doesnt_work/
- Solution that worked for some from the older patch notes: “Added button combo: hold “...” + “Volume Down” to reset PD contract in the cases where Steam Deck gets stuck due to an incompatible Type-C device” Check thread for more https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/1fr3nw4/steamdeck_broke/
- Wrong battery estimate
- I've seen issues like this where the battery drain counter needs to be recalibrated. It was a prevalent problem like a year ago. Theres a relatively easy fix without RMAing if thats the case. https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/x7a2dd/followed_the_guides_on_how_to_recalibrate_the/ https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/1ca1up5/anyone_else_ever_have_battery_issues_like_this/

- This is a common problem with these. Just gotta reset the CMOS. Plug it in, hold volume down, power, and the "..." Button on the bottom right until you see the power LED flash. This seems like a really big quality control issue on the OLEDs that never popped up in these numbers on the LCD. https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/1absvp0/brand_new_steam_deck_oled_will_not_turn_on_or/

- No Battery
- had something like this, I put it in desktop mode with the charger attached, the deck would not charge while it was on. I left the charger connected and the deck on in desktop mode for a full night. The next day it worked fine again. https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/189vwja/my_deck_died_can_anyone_help_me_bring_it_back_to/
- Turn off your Steam Deck.
- Hold down the “Volume -” and “…” buttons together,
- then press the power button.
- Release the power button when you feel a vibration,
- but continue to hold down the “Volume -” and “…” buttons until the “Restore Point” selection appears on the screen.
- Select the latest restore point. This will reset the driver cache and should solve the problem.

- ==PCSX2====
- Wow configuring #PCSX2 for #SteamDeck is WEIRD !
- •No #core on #RetroArch , so need to get the separate app
- •Better config in desktopmode, so you see all folders ( #bios !!)
- • Don't think about playing in #desktop mode, even if you unset all hotkeys and configure all bindings correctly => keyboard etc will keep popping ujp
- • return to GameMode, need to reconfigure all keys (at least no stupid keyboard popups)
- Then you NEED the touchscreen to reconfigure
