Roger, the magician

BACKSTORY

Roger is a bit of a loser. Late 20s, college dropout, sheltered for most of his life and didn't "spread his wings" like his brothers did. You could easily compare him to one of the early computer nerds before computers became mainstream. He is the type of guy that had big ambitions, but not smart enough to put a plan together. Apart from being a loser, he was also a bit of a liar and thief. He recently got a job as a magician for a friend's kid's birthday party and acts like it is his calling. It's really just him trying to figure out what to do with his life.

Being the youngest of 3 brothers, Roger's parents wish he could have done better with his life and been more successful like them. Because of his reckless attitude and lack of ambition, his father believes he's a failure. As a result of his sheltered life, he only does these things (vandalism, theft, manipulation/lying) because he craves social interaction.

He was getting severe headaches that clouded his judgement and went to the doctor's. That's when they found the brain tumor: Stage 4, terminal. He couldn't bear to bring that up with his parents, now in their mid 60s, because he believes they couldn't handle the news.

Roger is now a runaway and has been breaking into cars and small shops to pawn things off for food and money. He hit rock bottom when he got caught breaking into a family-owned grocery store trying to steal onions- a sob story that would make anyone cry (I'm so sorry). The police believed his story and reasoning behind this and court-ordered him to go into therapy. That's how he ended up in the situation with the protagonists.

IN-GAME

He has stolen the blanket so he doesn't get cold, he stole the flour because he planned something more devious against the residents, but now just has a 2 pound bag of flour (facepalm). He stole the lock because he feels it can be used to keep him safe. There are no premeditated reasons for his actions, he just thinks things may be useful. It's not all random, but people don't seem to understand him. He craves social interaction, but only when people are talking to him. If they aren't giving him attention, he does his own thing.

(out of character) I feel his actions may put the group on edge, but I hope he finds friends out of this. He's already had a couple interactions with vivian and believes she can be a friend for him, even if her intentions are far from good. Instead of "rolling for potato" that makes his actions dumb or smart, I can roll for his headaches, which cloud his judgement. It's up to you.
