Reasoning: Even at the young age of 17, Gin is highly interested in things like Martial arts, and on a more taboo topic, Chi. He's not ill aware of it's existence, because he to can utilize it to a degree to perform almost superhuman feats, just like the royal guards, and some others.

While it's technically 'illegal' to practice this stuff, he doesn't care. While he may prefer not to fight on the grounds of keeping it a secret, testing it and pushing it to the limit was not beyond him, all you need is a lonely location to train by yourself.

On a whim, he broke the law in front of Royal guards, not because he had to, but because he saw a giant someone wrecking havoc. He didn't know who they were, or their attentions, but the moment the titan fell, he ran, because he might actually be considered a criminal now despite his youth.

Anatsuken combined the strength of the body, mind, and ones Chi, this was all he wanted to strive for. He wanted to be an A+ student, he wanted to lay low and keep from drawing attention, but he wanted to create and perform an art that put the supernatural to use, combine martial prowess with mystical power.
