I have 300 mb/s down and 100 mb/s up
on speed tests I get about 250 down and 100 up

Windows defender live protection usually causes such issues but you wouldn't be able to connect to our servers at all
Can you try pausing it and connecting?

@Asphyrae - Lv 22 Rogue #11818 I've had this issue with other MS private servers. I didn't pay for a VPN though, I just used SoftEther VPN Gate.
If you decide to use SoftEther, you will have to try several of the IP hosts because not all of them work for games.

No. It will change your IP for everything that you do.
As far as I know, anyways. I've never seen an option for doing that in the brief moment I looked through the settings.

yes, the issue is that it bottlenecks my 300 mb/s to 5 mb/s :^)
and I always do other things while I play MapleStory
so it's not sustainable

Welp, I'm out of options then. Just know that other playes have to use VPNs to play MS private servers because they have no other choice. So, it's not unheard of. It's just an inconvenience.

Not necessarily, we have some players here who live in the Netherlands that have to use VPNs because their ISP is blocking their connection to OSM on the basis that it's "illegal activity". Everyone has their own reasons for using VPNs. It's just unfortunate. I'm not saying anything to justify why you should "suffer" from an inconvenience to play OSM, but I don't want you to feel like we haven't tried solving the issue or that you're the only one having to endure the inconvenience.
You could play OSM on your LTE / 4G hotspot too btw.

They didn't mention OSM specifically, they just said something along the lines of, "Please know that it is against our service agreement to use our services for illegal activities such as spoofing, pirating, or illegal gaming. We reserve the right to cancel your service or report you if the suspicious activity continues." Not word for word, but that basically sums up the paragraph those other players got. It could have been a troll though and they just assumed it was a legit email?

asdf already said it was likely a routing issue. That's not something on your end. It's how the host server handles connection to our server machine.

in both cases
and in one case it timed out
and in another it worked perfectly normal
