Grettir - Defends from attacker

She replied: 'There is no gain for you, such a great hero as you think you are, in killing hi, a poor creature. I would direct you to much more of a challenge, if you are so determined to put yourself to the test.'

'What is that?' he asked.

She answered: 'Grettir Asmundarson is here up in the mountains. Go try yourself against him. That is more on your level.'

Then, drawing his sword, he attacked Grettir fiercely. Grettir protected himself with his shield but did not use his weapons to strike back at him. This went on for a while without Grettir's being wounded.
