- Absolutely! Google have said that this is the case and the fact that Google Chrome marks non-HTTPS websites as "Insecure" (though not necessarily accurate) it will definitely make your life easier if it is HTTPS.
- Tip: Do look into LetsEncrypt before spending lots of SSL certs though.

- HTTPS definitely builds trust and it will surely help you improve your rankings as it will help you make more conversions.
- After installing SSL. you can use real simple ssl plugin to turn your site to https. Hope this helps :)
- google itself have said HTTPS is must and is a ranking factor, they wont to make whole internet safe and secure, HTTPS is must. here read google official post regarding this - https://webmasters.googleblog.com/2014/08/https-as-ranking-signal.html
- As mentioned above, it is a factor considered by Google.
- If your website involves any sort of financial transactions, HTTPS is a must. Customers probably wouldn't appreciate entering in payment details of an unencrypted connection.
- Go for it, LetsEncrypt is great and free, I've been using it for 2 or 3 years, never had issues with it. If you're using WP there are plugins to make the transition smooth. (I'm using Easy HTTPS (SSL) Redirection)

- I use let's encrypt however, is a PITA to configure. It is required to create a job to renew the certificate every 3 months and it is really annoying.

- Hi. Will my rankings drop switching to https?
- It took me like 20 min to set the whole thing up and for 3 years it's been running on auto-renewal pilot. No problems whatsoever. There are great tutorials on Youtube how to do it. For the price (free) it's so worth it.
- Hi. Will my rankings drop switching to https?
- Initially, your traffic will drop, because Google has to prosses all the new URLs, for me it was like two days. By switching to HTTPS your ranking will not drop, it can only go higher or it'll stay the same. By switching to HTTPS you'll avoid that nasty warning '...site not secure .." it doesn't apply to all websites and I don't know what criteria they use. Before switching to HTTPS I was freaking out not knowing what to expect. But when I look back it was one of the best things I did for my website. Just make sure that you have everything lineup before doing the switch. From the top of my head, it was signing up for Let's Encrypt, using a WP plugin to do the heavy lifting and setting up the cron job for auto-renewal. That's it. And it's been running on auto-pilot ever since.
- Just make sure you redirect the old urls to match the new protocol.
- If he's using Wordpress, Easy HTTPS (SSL) Redirection will do that for him. It'll take care of every single URL including images.

- This depends on the host, some host wont even let you use the lets encrypt cert because they want to sale it to you.
- In most cases its better to change host if you host makes you pay vs a free one. Generally, if they do this they have a lot of other bad policies your under.

- True! That's a very good point. I wasn't even aware of those restrictions as I've been using DigitalOcean VPS for years and have all the flexibility that I need. I would not recommend the so-called 'shared hosting' for a money site. Been there done that.
- You should switch to https.
