  1. Recc Electronic Supplier: Digikey or Mouser
  2. Recc Custom PCB: Seeed Studio
  3.
  4. Books:
  5. Art of Electronics
  6.
  7. Game about IC Design:

  9.
  10. Minimum Equipment: ~$140 Total
  11. - Dip Switches
  12. - 5-10 Op-Amps - LF353 and the LF411. (Latter recc. by AoE for a good general Op-Amp. Former is a good dual-rail.)
  13. - Eletechsup -DC DC Boost-Buck Converter : Good easy way to set-up dual rail op-amps. Strongly recc at least 1! (Get it with terminals)
  14. - Speakers - Honestly to begin with, go to your thrift store and teardown some speakers! Likely the cheapest way to get some.
  15. - Wire Cutter & Stripper combo
  16. - 22 AWG wire hookup kit. Solid Core. (Copper Coated Aluminum is fine.)
  17. - Cheapy breadboard power supply
  18.
  19. Individual Parts:

  21. For general part kits, I love these guys. They're gonna be a bit expensive than just buying like 5 of a dedicated part from digikey, but it's good to have a ready collection of basic parts.
  22. - Resistor Kit
  23. - Ceramic Cap Kit
  24. - Electrolytic Cap Kit
  25. - Diode Assortment
  26. - Transistor Assortment
  27. - Variable Resistor Assortment (Pots)
  28. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
  29. Minimum for Soldering Prototypes: ~$100-$200 Total
  30. - Collection of perfboards
  31. - Fume Fan: So a really strong desktop fan can move hot fumes away until they drop to the floor quickly. It's a decent hack solution. You can even buy a carbon filter to put over it.
  32. If you don't want grime, I'd say wait until you can get something like a KOTTO suction hose. Probably not right away as it's a good $70, but keep in the back pocket.
  33. - Sn/Pb Solder
  34. - Solder Flux
  35. - 60W Soldering Iron
  36. - Snubnose Cutters
  37. - Needlenose pliers
  38. - Male to Female Headers/Male to Male Headers
  39. - Screw Terminal Blocks
  40. - IC Sockets
  41. - Pair of Helping Hands
  42. --------------------------------------------------------------
  43. Recommended Niceties: ~$300-$400 Total (Some Cheap)
  44. Elenco Breadboard - 1660 or 3220 Tie points
  45. DSO Nano Oscilloscope
  46. Solder Wick
  47. Cleaning Brass Wire
  48. Good metal soldering pump
  49. Good pair of dedicated wire strippers.
  50. Good dedicated power supply.
  51. EEEEE Store:
  52. - LED Assortment
  53. - Mosfet Assortment
  54. - Inductor Assortment
  55. - IC Assortment - Contains a lot of IC amps mostly.
  56. - Linear Regulators
  57. Sharpies
  58. Electrical Tape
  59. One of those fish lure organizers style things.
  60. Anti-static Rubber Mat
  61. ---------------------------------------------------------------
  62. Extra niceties to have around, not necessary:
  63. Rocker Switches
  64. Raspberry Pi Zeros - Easy ARM dev, good dirty JTAG
  65. Blue Pill STM32F103C8T6 - Super cheap ARM board
  66. Precision Screwdriver Set
  67. Crystal Oscillators
  68. Timer ICs
  69. Heatshrink tubing
  70. Crimps and Hex Crimpers
  71. Set of Metric Screws, Nuts, Washers
  72. Breakouts for smaller IC packages
  73. Good Audio Op-Amps; E.g., Burr-Brown OPA2132PA/NE 5534/NE 5532 are ones I've seen tossed around.
  74.
  75. Luxury:
  76. Nice soldering station
  77. Toaster Oven Reflow Station w/ Soldering Paste (For PCB processing)
