crab-like marine creature. “Until recently, scientists believed trilobites were
an extinct animal related to ancient crustaceans; however, this trilobite fell
off Godzilla’s body. Second, we discovered some pulverized volcanic rock
on the trilobite’s exoskeleton—sand, in other words.” The projector clicked
to the next slide. “Without a doubt, this reddish, claylike fragment is from
the Bifurcatus Zone and shows characteristics we would expect from the
Late Jurassic.”
