<p style="text-align: center;"><span>Cocky, self-centred, vulgar, and violent, Kaede has always been the kind that acts on impulse. He's been listening to his gut his entire life, even in spite of all the time it's led him into trouble.</span></p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><span>The rebellious son of a couple that ran a noodle bar in Tokyo, Kaede always refused to do whatever he was told. Instead of helping his parents out, he was out with his friends, getting into brawls, barely avoiding trouble with the police, etching a nearly perfect map of all of the city's back alleys into his mind. Hardly the ideal life for a growing boy, but for Kaede it was paradise.</span></p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><span>That is, until he had his first run-in with the Yakuza. Shoulders were bumped, insults were hurled, and within minutes Kaede and his friends were all laid out. He got off lucky compared to his buddies, and while most would have been scared straight by such an experience, Kaede only felt one thing; <em>envy.</em></span></p>

<p style="text-align: center;">From that day on, Kaede chased after the Yakuza life with the ferocity of a tiger chasing down it's prey. He met people who knew other people, carried out every last little task he was given no matter how menial, paid his dues and his respects. Along the way, life kept finding new ways to try and kick him back down the ladder, but Kaede was tenacious, hungry, determined.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;">And now, as a grown man of 23, he's reached the spot that he set his eyes on all those years ago. He earned his place as a <em>kyodai </em>with blood, sweat, and tears. It cost him his connection with his parents, his old friendships, and even the top of his left little finger thanks to one particularly bad screwup.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;">But he doesn't care about those. Kaede might be taking things slow for now, enjoying himself after reaching his goal, but make no mistake - the ladder of the Yakuza still has plenty of rungs for Kaede to climb, and he's far too busy charging forward to even think about glancing back.</p>
