  5. # Chapter 2
  6.
  7. >> Rain
  8.
  9. Roca and the rest found Rain unconscious. Roca tried healing him with magic but his consciousness would not return. Oscar said it was a waste of time and magic and told Roca to stop. Then, Oscar told Neiricka and Luce to leave Rain behind and continue searching as Kaledvulf's mission was of priority, meanwhile told Roca to do as she wished since she was not a member of Kaledvulf. But Luce went to pick Rain up instead. He said there was a Mukarv (jp: Mukābu) Medical Research Lab nearby and he would take Rain there. Nini commented that Mukarv was among the top in Shelna. When questioned by Oscar, Luce replied that information from Rain would help their mission if he were to wake up, to which Oscar agreed.
  10.
  11. Soon they were surrounded by Omega species bombs. Roca told Luce to continue carrying Rain and leave the monsters to her. Roca thanked Luce for not abandoning Rain but Luce said he would be troubled if Rain were to die before their final showdown (being a tsundere basically). Roca managed to land Stop on the bombs, to which Neiricka, Oscar and Nini were surprised at how powerful time magic was. When questioned why she did not use it before, Marubom blurted that Stop had a low success rate, triggering Roca to freeze him again.
  12.
  13. On their way, Luce deduced that the armoured guy must be really strong to beat Rain up like that. Then Luce went on to praise Rain's strength and growth while emphasising that Luce himself was still stronger and Rain was not closing any gap (big tsundere...), confusing Neiricka in the process. Then their conversation moved on to the armoured guy, whose identity was a mystery to even Oscar. But Oscar denied the possibility of the armoured guy being someone from Shelna, since the peace of Shelna was being maintained by Kaledvulf and the army so nobody from Shelna could bear resentment to them (Luce seemed disturbed by the statement but did not voice out). Roca asked why he was attacking military facilities but Oscar said he had an idea but could not tell Roca as it was a military secret. In fact the information was only shared to people of his tier (vice captain) and above among Kaledvulf.
  14.
  15. Oscar told Nini to get approval for his Wygarl to which Nini expressed excitement because only the captain and the vice captain could completely draw out the power of Wygarl. How much power can one draw from Wygarl is the metric they rank the members among squad one. Luce's was the lowest among squad one and Neiricka was his above. Roca was shocked but Oscar said it was not Luce and Neiricka being weak, it was that the rest of them were absurdly strong.
  16.
  17. Rain woke up before they reached, and shared the names of the attacking duo. He wanted to continue chasing Vanhelmer but his body was still weak. Luce said he should still go to the medical facility to treat Rain and offered to continue carrying Rain to Rain's reluctance (Rain was even shocked to hear that Luce had been carrying him all the time). Then Luce asked Rain if he could use Tranquility (Mirror of Equity for global folks, Meikyō for Japanese folks...). Raid said yes but questioned why Luce knew about it, to which Omega species attacked before he could respond. Luce handed Rain to Neiricka and told Rain to watch him fight.
  18.
  19. Rain commented it was no different from usual then Luce shouted skill name Demideus (jp: Demidiusu), to which Rain recognised as Tranquility. Luce said that he did not learn from Raegen. Instead, Demideus was a skill passed on across generations of his bloodline. He was also shocked to see Raegen using the same skill.
  20.
  21. Luce started a flashback about his childhood. Luce lived in a hidden village so there was a rule to eliminate outsiders. One day Luce stumbled upon somewhere strange and met Raegen who also stumbled upon there. Both confused and obliged by the village rule, Luce charged at Raegen while Raegen was confused where he was, saying that he had no intention to fight. As Luce attacked Raegen, Raegen commented that Luce had good talent, and the feeling was closer to Rain than Lasswell. Luce got triggered that he was being looked down upon and used Demideus. Raegen was shocked and took Luce's second Demideus with his Tranquility, which shocked Luce. Apparently they both ended up somewhere in Farplane or Interdimensional Rift. When Rain asked about the continuation, Luce said one day they (Rain and Luce) would have a showdown with Demideus and Tranquility. When Luce won, he would also obtain the power to change the world. Rain complained that he did not understand such vague things but Luce said Rain would understand everything when they finished their showdown. Watching their little drama, Neiricka said that she was a bit envious of them since she did not have a friend she could talk that way to, or she could not remember. (Translator comment: Oscar despite seemingly impatient somehow watched all these stuff without any complaints...)
  22.
  23. Eventually they reached the facility. Mukarv mentioned that Rain was lucky that Vanhelmer barely missed his vitals and the reason (for his unconsciousness maybe) was due to his proof of transcendence. When Mukarv got his examination result, he deduced that Rain was of "that lineage" and wondered why Chairman Iluska and Vice Chairman Myulen let Rain into Kaledvulf. He further commented that what if something happened if they allowed the lineage of Omega-slayer roam free. When Mukarv went to meet Rain and the group, he reported to them that it was due to overexertion. Rain commented that he relied too much on Blood Awakening ever since he arrived at Livonia but Roca mentioned nothing happened to Luce and Neiricka. Luce said that they were different at being able to draw out full power of proof of transcendence. He later consoled Rain that he would be able to fully draw out Blood Awakening eventually. Then Mukarv tried to give Rain an injection to speed up his recovery, but it somehow triggered Neiricka's anxiety. Neiricka stopped Mukarv's injection and he dropped the syringe. As Mukarv tried to get a replacement, Luce stopped him, saying that Neiricka would get worse. Then the facility was attacked by monsters.
  24.
  25. As Mukarv muttered how if he could not protect the facility it would pose a problem to "the plan", Vanhelmer and Ihana barged in. Oscar told Ihana to come over to their side but Ihana replied that she would have died if Vanhelmer did not rescue her. Oscar reprimanded her for having an aspiration of sacrifice. Then, Ihana one shot Mukarv, to which Oscar commented that he never liked him for being completely fine with carrying out human experiments. Next, Oscar began attacking Vanhelmer, and was surprised that he managed to block his attacks. Before other people could join in the battle, Vanhelmer and Ihana opened a hole on the ceiling and left.
  26.
  27. As Rain's group chased after the duo, Oscar mentioned that captain of Kaledvulf, Malsalga (jp: Marusaruga) was the only other one being able to block his attacks. And Roca wondered about what Vanhelmer did earlier. It was no magic since no mage could release such powerful magic instantly by just raising his hand (she never met the Emperor in season 2...) and Marubom added that he sensed no magic but rather something inorganic. They eventually caught up and Oscar told the rest to stand back from the fight as he activated his Wygarl.
  28.
  29. As Oscar fought on, Ihana managed to summon Omega species and could somehow command them. Ihana and Vanhelmer left the Omega species to handle Oscar and left. Then, Luce, Neiricka activated Wygarl too to join the battle as well as Rain and Roca. After the battle, Luce told Nini to report to the captain that Ihana was now controlling Omega species and fell into the enemies side. Roca wondered why Ihana, someone from Shelna would so something like this. Oscar deduced that she was being fooled by Vanhelmer but Neiricka commented that she sensed hatred from Ihana. Roca recalled that Vanhelmer left a line "Humans will not change no matter how long it has passed. All that's left is to burn everything down." which reminded Rain of his frequent dream.
  30.
  31. Scene shifted to Malsalga reporting to Myulen and Iluska. Iluska commented that since Oscar could not win Vanhelmer, he must be really strong. Myulen and Iluska discussed about how the intel that they lost Ihana must not be known to other countries. Then Iluska wondered the possibility of having a replacement for Ihana. Myulen denied, saying that Ihana was having same numbers as "that Leftia" so there was no replacement. And they already gave out orders to dispose of "defective products" because they did not need them with Ihana. But Myulen was confident that they would retrieve Ihana, saying that their meeting was part of destiny after all (a bit ambiguous at this part). Then Iluska asked Myulen about Rain, to Myulen's surprise.
  32.
  33. Scene shifted to Ihana asking Vanhelmer "where next". Vanhelmer replied that he already decided and eventually they would burn Shelna down. Ihana asked if they could take down a country with just two people. Vanhelmer replied that they had "an ally in the sky", an artefact created by humans, and wondered how it felt to be burned by it.
  34.
  35. >> Tyvas
  36.
  37. Tyvas group was still on the run from the military. Leftia was still unease of when she was being controlled although others kept consoling her. Tyvas lied that there was a possibility that the experiment was a failure and they would not need Leftia anymore, which was seen through by Lund.
  38.
  39. On military side, Ishe and Karl were discussing the situation. King Luont and Prince Tahat were gravely injured. Tyvas committed a crime that could result in death sentence and Karl asked if Ishe was okay with it. Ishe replied that it concerned the survival of the country and they should not be affected by personal emotions. Ishe mentioned she needed to guard the king and the prince. Karl offered to chase after Tyvas but Ishe declined because he was still injured. Ishe decided to send Elmatir (jp: Erumatiru), a pink hair lady, after them instead. Elmatir requested to have Guilma (jp: Gyuruma) accompany her in this mission, because considering Leftia's power, they would need the power of a researcher. Karl did not like the idea but Elmatir said that although she understood why, Guilma was an exceedingly great researcher. Ishe approved but thought to herself that she did not wish this to happen at all.
  40.
  41. Leftia was still bothered that if she stayed in the experiment ground, she would not drag the rest into this mess. Then suddenly a purple hair lady in lab coat arrived saying she could still return, to whom Lund called Guilma. Guilma was proud of one of her research results, high speed movement with magic. Guilma was quite an eccentric person and Tyvas even called her mad scientist. Then behind her was Elmatir, said to be one with same strength as Karl. Then the fight commenced.
  42.
  43. Turien commented that Guilma was no ordinary researcher. Guilma said that in that world she could not even do field work without power so she had to have power. Then went on and on about some philosophical stuff to stall the fight so that reinforcements could arrive. As Tyvas was thinking what to do, Lund created a smokescreen for the group to flee. Tyvas was surprised that Lund had such function to which Lund replied he did not.
  44.
  45. Apparently the smokescreen was from Lund overheating. Turien was worried that Leftia's mind would not last as her guilt continued to grow. He told Tyvas that although Tyvas denied self sacrifice, self sacrifice could save some people. In the morning, Turien and Leftia were missing together with their belongings. So Tyvas, Harve and Lund went on to look for them.
  46.
  47. Scene shifted to Turien and Leftia. Apparently Leftia woke up when Turien was watching over the group, saying she wanted to surrender to the military. She could not endure letting others suffer for her like this. Leftia asked Turien to take her to the military and even mentioned that Turien would understand her. As they continued on the path, Turien confirmed that if Leftia would be okay with that, including being used for experiment again, not able to die even if she wanted to, and betraying Harve, Tyvas and Lund. But Leftia replied that it was better than them dying. Eventually they reached an abandoned village. Turien commented that it was just like the village he was born in. Then somehow conversation flowed into Turien's childhood.
  48.
  49. Turien was among a group of thieves/robbers that stole from people weaker than them. It was what they needed to do to survive. Leftia asked how he ended up being like that he was now. Turien gave a flashback when their group was attacking a small village. His comrade was robbing food from a pair of poor siblings. The older brother kept begging them to give back the food and went on about his sickly younger sister. The younger sister consoled the older brother that she was fine and still believed in the story the older brother had told her back then about a hero would come to their rescue. Turien's comrade dissed that heroes did not exist, to which Turien also believed back then. However, Turien could not forget about the siblings even when they went back to their base. So Turien brought some food they had stolen to where the siblings were. However, the village was already in ruins, being attacked by Omega species after Turien's group attacked them. Eventually, Turien found the siblings dead, having been killed by Omega species. Turien thought that if they had not robbed food from the siblings, the siblings would have had the strength to escape in time.
  50.
  51. Seeing how the older brother died covering for his younger sister, Turien visioned that they died while believing in heroes to the end. Turien became unable to steal/rob, distancing himself from his comrades and went back to living alone. He kept thinking about that day without food or drink. He wondered why he returned to the village that day and realised he wanted to be the hero for the siblings. Turien knew he could no longer become their hero as they would not come back to life. He thought about dying to apologise but realised that it was just a form of escape. To repent, he had to rescue someone and die as a hero. Leftia consoled Turien that he had already repent enough. To her, he was already a hero that protected them.
  52.
  53. As Lund, Tyvas and Harve were pursuing Leftia and Turien, Lund wondered why Turien did not destroy the emitter Lund planted on Leftia. However Lund admitted that he also planted an emitter on Turien so it would be pointless. Eventually they caught up to them. Turien told Harve that the desire to save each other was the same for Leftia and Harve should understand. However, Harve replied that it was not the same as his desire was to live on and move forward together with Leftia. Even if they lost their lives in the process, he would not regret. However, Harve questioned if Leftia really had no regrets on choosing self-sacrifice. They had a debate on whether Leftia really wanted to die which resulted in Leftia admitting that she did not want to die, and that she wanted to have a fun journey like before.
  54.
  55. Harve added that he could defeat Turien now that Turien's heart was wavering, and the fact that he did not remove Leftia's emitter meant that Turien wished for them to stop him. And then they fought and Harve really won Turien. Harve said that there would be no happiness if they were to sacrifice and said that the Snefringa self sacrifice stuff was rubbish. He would even defeat Omega if that was what it took to protect Leftia. As they reconciled, Guilma hopped in saying it was a pity.
  56.
  57. They managed to fend her off. Turien said that he understood the desire to live on together, but they could not flee like that forever. Tyvas agreed and said that Harve's previous speech gave him idea - to destroy Omega themselves. By destroying Omega they would no longer need Leftia.
  58.
  59. Scene shifted to a group of researchers working on a mechanical-looking thing.
