  1. On a slippery astro pitch down at Ash Road, Swansea Events claimed the bragging rights for another year against SU Bars in their annual football match and although the match only lasted 90 minutes, it was as close as an affair as it was last season when the honours were decided from spot kicks. With SUBars fielding a team that serves your drinks at JC’s and Woodys, they began the game strongly by taking a 2-0 lead over their opposition, with the first goal coming from International Officer Andy Patton, who cut in from his left side and found the bottom corner of the goal, putting the ball past his fellow sabb officer Luke James (lucky they don’t share an office). The lead was extended by Michelle Owen, striker for the women’s first team who finished off a devastating through ball which tore through Events’ defence. However SUBars’ lead didn’t last too long as Matt Collins took advantage of some defensive mistakes by Bars and claimed two quick succession goals which brought the game back to 2-2. Events then capitalised and took advantage of SUBars’ drop in morale as Russell Wade took control of the game and scored a goal which can only be described as ‘one that Maradona would be proud of’ after taking the ball past three SUBars players and finding the roof of the net from thirty yards out. Events soon doubled the lead taking the score to 4-2 but SUBars picked up and their resilience paid off as Michelle Owen found the top corner of the net, after taking the ball from the goal kick line, cutting inside and blasting it through Luke James’ arms. Despite some excellent saves from James which kept Events in the game, SUBars pressure won them a deserved corner and the ball sent in by Emily Marchant found Dan Crockers head amongst a sea of events defenders and put the game back to 4-4 with fifteen minutes to spare. However, in a game full of impressive goals things were not over and done yet, and despite a tough midfield battle, Events not only managed to find one but two goals, both shot from about 35 yards out and finding the roof of the net twice, ensuring them the win in practically minutes and saving the pressure of extra time and possibly penalties.
