- Project Gotham Racing 4 (Xbox 360) - Gotham Career Guide
- Before starting make sure to disable Autosave (This can be done via either having no hard drive to save to, backing out of the save game location in the options and or just pressing back when selecting a hard drive) and install the game to your Xbox 360 hard drive (This will reduce load times significantly)
- Useful information regarding car classes:
- - There are several car classes which range from A - G (Although G is not needed in the Gotham Career)
- - Some of the fastest cars don't handle well meaning it actually pays to have a car that's quicker on acceleration rather than one that has great top speed.
- Class A: Ferrari F50 GT or McLaren F1 LM (McLaren handles much better but Ferrari has better top end speed)
- Class B: RUF RT12 (It accelerates well and actually gets around corners, second best is the Ferrari 288 GTO Evo.)
- Class C: RUF CTR Yellowbird, Callaway Sledgehammer or Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano (Any of these will do but most are hard to master)
- Class D: Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. FQ400 (Handles well in corners and goes like a rocket) - From the start you can use the Mercedes CLK DTM if you wish.
- Class E: Cadillac Sixteen (Might be a big limo thing but goes pretty fast, second best is the Bentley Continental GT or the Subaru 22B if you want much better handling)
- Class F: Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (Lamboghini Miura is second best here) or from the beginning you can use the Lancia Delta Integrale.
- Invitationals are all optional and can be skipped, I'd recommend doing the one for the Subaru early on for E class events as it's really nice to drive and works well in all conditions.
- -- KUDOS --
- The main money or currency in this game is kudos, earning it can be easy (You can slide the car, get airtime, pull handbrake turns etc.) however should you hit a wall hard enough then you'll lose what you haven't banked yet. Cars are behind pay packets (Don't worry it ain't real life money your using here XD) so make sure you save up enough in the early game to buy some of the best cars in each car class.
- Along the way you'll need to buy car packs which are as follows:
- Chevrolet - 15K
- Americana - 20K
- Japanese Sports - 50K
- RUF - 170K
- Hypersports - 190K
- -- Gotham Career --
- This is basically the main part of the game (The one that this guide is about) and is broken down into 4 parts: Amateur, Pro, Hotshot and Master. You do 2 tournaments before you get to a major (This is explained below) once you've completed both majors you move onto the 2nd region (USA) and rince and repeat before moving onto the final region (Europe)
- Once the final region is done you'll start Season 2 and from there you keep going until you reach the next rank or #1.
- The game is broken up into seasons with you going through Asia-USA-Europe (In that order every time) however as you rank up you'll unlock bigger events for more points.
- Amateur:
- 25 points per tournament win (3 races each)
- Pro:
- 30 points per tournament win (2-4 races each)
- Hotshot:
- 35 points per tournament win (4/5 races each)
- Master:
- 40 points per tournament win (5/6 races each)
- Majors are something you'll be entering a lot, these involve a qualifying stage (Something you'll be able to skip later on as you progress through the seasons and as your ranking gets higher) and the main event. Beating the main event in 1st gives you 50 points so make sure you beat them.
- Points for each event:
- To get maximum points for each tournament you don't actually need to win everything, instead the game gives maximum points to those with the most amount of KUDOS at the end of the event so if you skip 2 events by getting knocked out or having the time run out on you (For example in Eliminator and Breakthrough events) then it's possible to still win if you manage to score enough kudos over the remaining races so it really is a points game your playing here. You can win everything if you wish but because we're going for speed then you won't need to really do that. This actually gives you some down time during the run as if you know you can retire then you can leave the game alone and let the timer count down on its own and go to the toilet so this run really isn't that bad at all.
- Difficulty:
- You can put this at whatever you wish, it doesn't change anything in the game apart from the difficulty of the AI opponents (Would recommend putting it on Easy to make it as simple as possible)
- Transmission:
- Manual is preffered here but feel free to use Automatic (You can change the transmission settings in the game settings)
- Options --> General --> Gears (Automatic or Manual)
