  1. As I physically get closer to Olathe, more and more Get Up Kids lyrics will seep into my writing, that is how it goes. My Apology is probably my favorite track of theirs, at least my favorite off of Something to Write Home About. Stay Gone off of On A Wire is probably my favorite track overall, to clear that up. I try to enjoy songs that use pens or writing as imagery quietly because that's what I do generally and it's embarrassing to wear that on the sleeve. Especially "Pens paint people that I've proven wrong" in that song, because that doesn't relate to me at all. I write funny blogs and youtube videos. I am not in the business of proving people wrong, let alone in writing. The bit about the memory failing him does fit (though it's been better as I've been less depressed since coming back to the US) and going "and we move on" also does fit.

  5. I had sort of an interesting thought experiment a few months ago. My answer to the question of "what would you if you could go back in time once" is normally either the most morbid depressing thought or "go to a mall and tell people about the Clinton/Lewinsky affair like a week ahead of it officially breaking, leave a ton of details in there, they'd think I'm some unhinged guy and then when it breaks they'll be like "yeah somebody at Software Et Cetera told me everything exactly about it like a week before everyone else heard about it." The depressing one you'll have to ask me about in person. Anyway my new answer is: I would find myself at like fifteen-sixteen and find a way to get me a copy of Something to Write Home About when I was still in high school. Just inherently the music is already a type of music that I like, and I would've liked back then, but also to know they're from Olathe would've just sent me over an edge. It'd completely change something about my existence in my late teens, somehow.
