Nyotaika PreCure Pyonko-chan is a spin-off of the “Gao! Kachiku PreCure” fan series. Pyonko-chan is the tale of Nishio Makoto, a fourteen year old third year boy in middle school. Makoto grew up a loser unable to make any male friends but also unable to get a girlfriend. He has more in common with girls and bad at sports. Makoto is a massive Otaku and was always made fun of for it and for otherwise kind of looking like a girl. One day, after being saved by the Kachiku PreCure—Cure Nyanko and Cure Wanko—Makoto becomes fascinated by them. Makoto learns that Cure Nyanko and Cure Wanko are actually Kusube Yukinya-senpai and Daikuhara Reika-senpai, second years from the high school section of the academy he attends. Makoto instantly asks them to teach him how to become strong like them. Yukinya and Reika are unsure at first but the younger boy shows off how much he excels at blending in with girls. Soon, Makoto learns from the sporty gyaru Yukinya how to be gutsy, spirited and the center of attention while serving as the manager of the soccer team. From the elegant and refined Reika our protagonist learns decorum, fashion and social responsibility.

Makoto watches his senpai from up close on the battlefield, passionately staring at their cool and cute movements while protecting the people of the city from the evil forces they have faced since middle school. Makoto desperately wishes he could fight alongside the senpai that were giving so much to him but he finds that he cannot turn into a PreCure, no matter how many times he tries to use their spare transformation device. On the surface, Makoto resigns himself to being able only to help the civilians escape from battlefields but deep in Makoto’s heart Makoto wishes he could become a PreCure. All the while, Makoto—already rather androgynous—finds himself slowly becoming more feminine in appearance. The weak-willed boy is increasingly confused for a girl, both in demeanor and appearance.

After a particularly brutal battle sees Yukinya and Reika badly hurt Makoto returns home and cries himself to sleep over his powerlessness, tightly grasping a Kachiku transformation device. The next morning, Makoto awakens to find himself with girl’s breasts. Donning his glasses and checking in the mirror Makoto is shocked to find he hasn’t just grown breasts, his penis has been replaced with a vagina! Yes, Makoto is now a girl! Makoto and the others can’t believe the transformation. Makoto doesn’t know how to feel about the transformation since he was originally a boy. “A failure of a boy, at that!” Makoto hides his transformation at first but when Cure Nyanko and Cure Wanko are about to be defeated in combat the transformation device reacts to Makoto’s strong will and transforms him into Cure Pyonko, a rabbit-eared bunny girl! Delighted at finally being a PreCure, Cure Pyonko defeats the enemy monster.

The next morning, Makoto shows up to school in a girl’s uniform. The growing suspicion around Makoto from other students since Makoto began hanging out with Kusube and Daikuhara explodes into full-blown popularity when it becomes apparent that, yes, ‘Makoto-kun’ is actually ‘Makoto-chan’. During lunch, surrounded by excited girl classmates and getting a lot of attention from boy classmates Makoto realizes that ‘he’ isn’t having a hard time socializing anymore. The principles taught to him by Reika-senpai have given him the tools and confidence to navigate conversation.

A girl classmate asks Makoto how ‘she’ turned into a girl but Makoto plays dumb and says he doesn’t know. A boy classmate asks if he has a ‘girl part’ down there now and Makoto feels his old shyness return…or is it just the etiquette taught to him by Reika-senpai rubbing off?

At home, Makoto begins exploring the female body. The sensations are unlike anything Makoto experienced as a boy. Makoto also finds that it isn’t just his breasts or vagina that feels different. His skin is smoother and softer and his hair has a thickness and softness to it. Even before the transformation Makoto knew that ‘his’ hair had begun to grow long. Now it was getting closer to the neck, looking more like Yukinya-senpai’s hair, just without the blonde hair dye. Not knowing how long he will remain a girl, Makoto decides to keep his hair, rather than cut it. An image of himself with long hair like Reika-senpai, but braided, flashes in Makoto’s mind and the boy-in-a-girl’s-body blushes.
