Midori: Could I borrow Brynhildr for a little while?
Leo: [surprised] What are you planning to do with it?
Midori: [smile] Well, I really need to get the leaves from a certain tree, but it doesn’t grow anywhere around here!
Midori: So I thought I’d ask Brynhildr to grow that tree!
Leo: [sweat] That isn’t really how Brynhildr works.
Midori: [pout] Aww. The old stories say it can grow all kinds of things!
Leo: [frown] Which legends are those?
Midori: The old Izumite stories about the legendary weapons! Midori did some research about them all!
Midori: The legendary Siegfried which cuts through evil! The golden Yato, destined to be wielded by the peacebringer!
Midori: And Brynhildr, the book that feeds a thousand mouths!
Leo: [frown] Those are just stories, Midori. There’s no truth in them.
Midori: [sad] Oh…
Midori: I’m sorry to bother you, Papa. I better go find a replacement for my medicine…
[Midori leaves]
Leo: [injured] …I’m not cut out for this.

Leo: [eyes closed] I’m fine, Midori. Sorry to worry you.
Leo: How’s the medicine going?
Midori: It’s going okay. Thank you for all those books!
Leo: [smile] You’re quite smart being able to make use of them so quickly.
Leo: [injured] Truth be told, I’ve been trying to use Brynhildr to summon different types of trees.
Leo: As you can see, it’s been a wasted endeavour.
Midori: [sad] Papa… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you.
Leo: You don’t need to worry about that.
Leo: [frown] …One of the first things I tried to do after being chosen by Brynhildr was use its power to create fruit-bearing trees.
Leo: Nohr always goes hungry, but during that year the famine was particularly bad. Xander and Camilla had done all they could to redirect rations to the hungry, but there still wasn’t enough to go around.
Leo: [frown, sweat] Expectations were high when Brynhildr chose me. And while Father was pleased with my combat prowess…
Leo: [injured] I was never able to create anything edible. Even the seeds and acorns rarely took root.
Leo: My use to Nohr is limited.
Midori: [sad] Oh, Papa!
Leo: [surprised] ! It’s okay, Midori- we won’t be going hungry any time soon.
Midori: [pout] That’s not why I’m upset! You’re always so mean to yourself!
Midori: Aunt Camilla told me you always worked hard using Brynhildr to make the soil less barren!
Leo: [blush] Sister said that?
Leo: [injured] I shouldn’t be making you comfort me. Forgive me, Midori.
Leo: [smile] Let’s go gather some herbs together. You can tell me about the contents of those books.
Midori: [smile] You’re the best, Papa.
Leo: [blush] If you say so.

Midori: [smile] …And if we get enough of this one, then I can make up a batch and preserve it for the healers to use as antiseptic!
Leo: [smile] Brilliant work, Midori. You’re truly a prodigy.
Midori: [blush] Aww, thanks, Papa! Hey, where are we going, anyway?
Leo: There was something I wanted to show you, actually.
Midori: [surprised] A moonblossom tree? But- the climate’s all wrong here.
Leo: [smile] I managed to make it bloom using Brynhildr. Its medical uses are minimal, but the berries are quite edible.
Midori: [smile] You did it! This is amazing, Papa!
Leo: I couldn’t have done it without you.
Leo: [sweat, injured] My foolish pride would’ve forced me to give up a long time ago – to dismiss it as a stupid legend not worth repeating.
Leo: [smile] But… that’s not the kind of father I want to be to you, Midori.
Leo: I thought perhaps I could teach you some magic. So that -once the war is over- we can try and unlock Brynhildr’s powers together.
Midori: [smile] I’d love to, Papa!
Midori: [sweat] Um, Midori may not be quite as advanced as Papa was at this age, though.
Midori: I’d hate to be useless, or get in your way…
Leo: [smile] You could never get in my way, Midori.
Leo: [blush] And you don’t need to worry about how useful you are. Kaze and I love you no matter what you do.
Midori: [blush] Papa, you’re turning all red!
Leo: [smirk, blush] So are you.
