Q: What platform is this game for?
A: RKSF is a PC exclusive. I use a Logitech F310 Gamepad.

Q: Is this a Touhou game?
A: No, RKSF uses original characters and content.

Q: What kind of Mega Man clone is this?
A: In particular, RKSF is a Mega Man 4 clone (e.g. sliding, chargeable weapons, etc.), but it references a wide variety of Mega Man titles.

Q: You can choose two different characters?
A: Yes, RKSF has a Mega Man character (Freudia) as well as a Zero character (Pamela). I currently have no plans to run Pamela mode.

Q: What is continuous sliding?
A: When Freudia slides, the animation lasts for 21 frames. On the last 3 of these frames, a window opens up in which you can press the slide input again, thus renewing the slide for another 21 frames. The result is a single continuous slide, and although it isn't absolutely necessary to do save for one or two strategies, it's an easy way to tell if your movement is good or not.

Q: Should the route start with Luste or Grolla?
A: No one actually knows for sure which route is faster, but all signs seem to point to Luste first. The main benefit of Grolla first is getting early eisschwert, of which saves a little bit of time in a number of stages and also trivializes the Luste fight. Unfortunately, it means doing Grolla's stage without flugel (henceforth referred to as jet), having to buster duel both Grolla and the miniboss, and missing out on a few other small optimizations. RKSF is not compatible with hourglass, so frame testing the two routes is impossible.

Q: How does Freudenstachel work?
A: Freudenstachel is a rapid fire weapon that oscillates up and down in a wave-like motion and can be used while sliding. Unlike its RKS version, RKSF's freudenstachel has no randomness associated with it; as long as you know what you're doing, you can prepare for any precise shots that the game throws at you (e.g. crusher skip in Luste's stage). If freudenstachel runs out of energy, it loses its rapid fire ability and can only have two shots on-screen simultaneously.

Q: How does the second phase of Luste's fight work?
A: Luste's desperation mode attack is completely random. You will never see the same set of platforms twice, and it's entirely possible for no convenient platforms to spawn for a short duration of time.

Q: What is Jetsliding?
A: If Freudia's positioned such that the front of her hitbox extends beyond that of jet's, it's possible to slide off of jet onto a platform and have the resulting speed be equal to her normal sliding speed plus jet's flight speed. This velocity glitch is called jetsliding. Jetsliding speed is preserved as long as Freudia continues moving forward and doesn't change her Y-position; that is, you don't need to continuously slide to make sure your slides remain bugged out and fast.

Q: How does the zip work in Trauare's stage?
A: Good question. Someday I'll learn how to do this.

Q: Schwer-Muta can crash RKSF?
A: Yes, and it's awful. If you happen to kill Schwer on a specific frame while she's transitioning patterns, the game freaks out and crashes. This same crash can also occur when fighting Schirach, but this is only an issue for Pamela runners.

Q: Does the ice shield not always protect you?
A: Instead of making a solid hitbox surrounding Freudia, each of the individual snowflakes has its own small hitbox. As a result, Freudia can be sniped even with ice shield trying to protect her.

Q: What Dolis pattern is best?
A: Defeating Dolis in a single cycle is only possible if she jumps twice at the start. This seems to be a 25% chance.

Q: How does Freudenzwinger work?
A: Freudenzwinger, based on one of Freudia's attacks from RKS, fills the screen with icicles. However, the attack cancels itself immediately if Freudia takes damage.

Q: Is there any specific order for the Black Cross?
A: No. You don't get any weapons from them and weapon energy isn't persistent across Black Cross stages.

Q: What's the Devil double jump?
A: When jumping into a boss door, there's a small window upon landing in which you can jump forward again. Starting the Devil fight with a double jump allows for the quickest possible kill; the next best alternative is to use time slow which loses 5 seconds.

Q: Does Iris' spawn matter during the final battle?
A: Yes, but in most cases she cooperates fine. Iris can spawn in 5 possible positions, and only one of them is completely out of reach.

Q: Why does timing not end on the last hit on Iris?
A: RKSF’s ingame timer is actually real time, and the timer stops right when the cutscene of the Iris Castle collapse begins. We try to match our own timers with the game’s ingame timer since that’s ultimately what the community uses for runs.
