  1. The Freemen of the Desert: A small portion of life was able to survive outside of the protection of the bunkers. These people formed their own tribes that over the years waxed and waned in power. These are the main five tribes that have survived to this day.
  2.
  3. Steel Badgers: A tribe composed mostly of humans, urask, and duergar. This tribe is most well-known for acting as bounty hunters and monster killers, often gaining high wages from city states to hunt down pirates and powerful beasts. The Badgers specialize in this field. Known for their ferocity, Badgers have been known to be hired out as mercenaries for city states. A company of Badgers soldiers is said to fight harder than most units, often taking on much bigger enemies then they should be capable of.
  4.
  5. Desert Fangs: The desert fangs are powerful practitioners of hedge medicine and poisons. They often fulfill the same roles as the Steel Badgers, acting as bounty hunters and monster slayers. But they also specialize in rare medical cures and poisons, acting as go to doctors or assassins if need be. The fangs are much sneakier than the Badgers, living more on cleverness and guile than raw strength. Both factions dislike each other, and avoid each other if possible. Still, they respect each others skill, and it is not uncommon to find Fangs and Badgers working in the same mercenary companies or adventuring groups, their usual resentments bound by professional courtesy.
  6.
  7. Black Jackals: scavengers, this group contain the most “scholars”. Typically experts in trap disarming and ruin excursions. They are the go to mercenaries for Wy’rd excursion parties due to their tribe’s ability to find and explore ruins. They are looked down on by both the Fangs and Badgers, but they still maintain a couple of mercenary companies that use looted vehicles and barges. These thief companies are highly feared in battle, as Jackals can disable a vehicle, kill its occupants, and join the fight in their new ride with ease.
  8.
  9. Golden Dromads: merchants basically
  10.
  11. Crimson Hawks: Navigators, guides, cartographers, and messengers.
