  1. With the new Final Fantasy XIV expansion, we know there is going to be a host of new abilities and reworking of current stuff. With the Live Letter coming shortly, I thought I'd put together a list of what I want to see for tanks, my main role.
  2.
  3. PLD/WAR
  4. Change stances that it changes between them with a single button, similar to the current PvP method. Stance change exists on the oGCD (like how WAR's stances work now) with a few seconds of cooldown (again, like WAR) instead of on the GCD w/ a MP cost (like PLD).
  5.
  6. PLD
  7. Change Shield Bash to Shield Dash, turning the general stun into a gap closer with a possible stun (similar to MNK's Shoulder Tackle). PLD is presently the only tank without a gap closer (WAR has Onslaught and DRK has Plunge) and this has an impact on some content. Shield Bash is also kinda redundant with the Role Action Low Blow anyways.
  8.
  9. PLD/WAR
  10. These two need a rework of ability learned timing to 50. At 50, PLD has its DPS stance, but essentially no DPS abilities and its highest DPS combo is Rage of Halone, its enmity combo. WAR has the opposite problem by having its full DPS combos but no DPS stance. Abilities of when they're provided to the player need to be adjusted to make the jobs feel at least semi-complete at 50 and 60. In fact, the roles of who's MT/OT essentially flip from 50 to 60/70 (WAR is better MT at 60/70, PLD better MT at 50), which creates some awkward learning for newer tanks.
  11.
  12. DRK
  13. Make Dark Arts a simple trigger that adjusts MP costs for abilities that use it on the fly. Remove the buff timer. Using it again will turn off the buff and reset MP costs. If an ability that could use Dark Arts doesn't have enough for the "enhanced" MP cost, it will simply use the non-Dark Arts version and the Dark Arts buff remains.
  14.
  15.
  16. In general, all 3 tanks feel pretty good at 70. I don't have a lot of wants going into 5.0 for abilities from 70-80. Just rework older stuff for the most part and I'm happy. Can't see what's coming in the Live Letter on Thursday.
