    before he was enlisted, kyouya was basically youngjae's best friend, and would always be the person she goes to when she needed a pick-me-up. the reason their father is currently in debt to the hospital is him; kyouya had been playing around with youngjae while they were young, a year or two after moving to korea, and had walked into the street without looking. he had survived, thankfully, but the hospital bill for the surgery and hospital care was extremely expensive. sometimes, youngjae blames herself for not warning him about the car.

    they're not as close as she and kyouya are, but they are close enough to tease each other (she lives to embarrass him) and joke around. the two have skype calls every once in a while and catch up on life during them, and sometimes he's the one that gives youngjae life advice. he's incredibly wise and she's surprised he isn't part of some boy group or whatever. before they end their skype call, or when he notices that youngjae is about to fall asleep, he sings her a little lullaby. before kyouya left, the both of them would sing for her (since she wasn't really as good as them but would try to join in anyway).

  as long as she can remember, she's been a passionate person-- no matter what it is, if youngjae finds it interesting, she will love it with all her heart. astronomy, cooking, and even singing (even though she's not as good as she thinks she is at the latter). when she loves something, she loves it deeply, which goes the same with people as well. but with that, she is stubborn and competitive; if she's not the best, youngjae is easily fired up. she has no idea where it came from (perhaps her father's side), but it's always been there. no matter what it is, be it singing or learning or even getting sticky notes off her face, youngjae will try her hardest to be the best. if she isn't the best at it, then she won't settle for just that. it makes her quite a sore loser, as well. she's also quite the jealous type, always wanting to be the best since she grew up her whole life trying to live up to her parents' standards (along with the fact that her brothers would always get their attention). but, due to her secretive side, she's often sarcastic-- it's more of a defense mechanism. since she's not that open, she uses sarcasm to hide anything that she doesn't want to reveal. it's humorous and mostly effective.

  being distrustful and secretive, youngjae won't share any opinion unless asked, and won't ever tell anybody about her family and/or background. she's considered an enigma because of it. it's mostly because she's unsure about whether or not people would genuinely like her and be her friend if they found out the truth about her family's situation. but despite this she is affectionate, and often expresses her affection through words and actions, and will not hold back if she feels deep affection for a person (familial, platonic, or romantic). perhaps you could call her a hopeless romantic. she's also protective, which she inherited from her mother (especially since she's the only female in her family), and is definitely protective of her close friends and younger siblings. her protectiveness can reach the extent to where she'll ruin anybody who decides to hurt the people she cares about deeply. since her mother died, she had to learn how to able to take care of herself without her parents and be independent. she's able to live on her own if she has all the essentials.

  when she hears him singing one day, she's completely enamored by the sound of his voice and, after that, asks him to sing for her. he had completely forgot that she was in the room (or wasn't aware of it altogether) and immediately became embarrassed and refused. youngjae, being as stubborn as she is, decided to use her puppy face in hopes to convince him.
