1. English was only ever substantially slower because getting the hookshot on English is much slower (the pirates can't see you at nighttime on JP, whereas they can on English, making early hookshot only viable on JP).

2. English has timesaves such as lullaby skip being faster, being able to recoil flip through the ice in Snowhead, faster loading zones, and the ability to skip cutscenes like the Mikau walking CS and the turtle cutscene by simply playing SoDT.

3. Once egg dupe was discovered, it became faster to skip hookshot entirely, eliminating one of the key advantages that JP had over English.

4. The hookshot skip route can make use of the English exclusive timesaves listed above.

Overall, we estimate English saves about 20s. English timelosses such as its slower text have been accounted for.
