  1. Function: the product works in the following ways
  2. : the solar panel is on the top to consume solar energy and convert it to electrical energy so that the energy can be put into a battery. The power button is on the centre of the device so that the user can manually turn the device on/off with ease of access. The led light is on the bottom to
  3. emit light
  4. .There are 2 sensors on either side of the power button as to receive sensory input in the most effective way.
  5.
  6. The solar panel is slanted upwards so it can effectively receive the most solar energy, this would increase the functionality of the device as it would last longer because it can convert more solar energy so there would be a greater battery capacity charged within a given time of daylight hours.
  7.
  8. The LED light is slanted downwards so it can effectively emit the most light where it’s needed the most. Therefore this would increase the functionality as it would emit light in the areas only where needed. Where the LED light is relatively small, this would allow prolonged use and lifetime of the battery as there would be less power consumption.
  9.
  10. Label for back: the back has a retractable handlebar as to keep the symmetry and aesthetic of the device. This would allow portability of the device and also mounting options. The retention of aesthetic through this retractable handlebar would allow the product to have a broader market audience, as the design wouldn’t luck repulsive if it were always there which could make the product’s sales fall.
  11.
  12. Safety has been taken into consideration for this design because there are no small parts or sharp edges which could potentially harm the user. This is an advantage, as having sharp edges or small parts wouldn’t fit the client’s needs as the product would be used in a household environment where there could be children.
  13.
  14. Anthropometrics of the hand would be taken into consideration for further development of this design as it would enable the user to grip the retractable handlebar painlessly.
  15.
  16. The product could be made with the 3D printer if plastics would be used and at the workshop if a wooden body is used for the product. A wooden body would change the aesthetic of the device, however it could be advantageous as the ‘wooden’ look would be fitting to the home niche.
