  1. [5:38:19 PM CDT] <[Cy]> |||+++--- Chapter III ---+++|||
  2. [5:46:33 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The Wayward spends the rest of their day sorting themselves out after a long journey, some with more interest and care than others. Hair is brushed and trimmed, clothes mended, baths taken, and stomachs filled. It turns out that the entire inn was booked for the group, and those who run the place become the group's entertainment and company. Knowing the approximate itinerary, they bid everyone an early rest, so that they are ready for the saili
  3. [5:46:33 PM CDT] <[Cy]> ng tomorrow. After weeks on horseback, sleeping in camps or at roadhouses, it feels somewhat strange to rest in such luxury; but such feelings are fleeting and night is soon replaced by the morning's light and the innkeepers go door to door to wake everyone.]
  4. [5:48:40 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow is roused easily. After only a moment of binking and rubbing her eyes, she slides out of bed and begins to get dressed.
  5. [5:49:38 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne turns to see Meadow wake. She fastens her belt as she checks the rest of her gear.
  6. [5:49:55 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> Have a good sleep?
  7. [5:50:21 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow nods.
  8. [5:50:35 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Yes, I should say so. The most comfortable I've had in a long time, I'd wager.
  9. [5:50:56 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> Mmhmm.
  10. [5:51:05 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne looks to the door.
  11. [5:51:14 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> I believe the others are waking as well.
  12. [5:52:38 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> That sounds about right. We're supposed to be getting a move on in short order, eh?
  13. [5:54:37 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> That'd be my guess.
  14. [5:55:11 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow draws in a deep breath.
  15. [5:55:12 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne throws on her coat.
  16. [5:55:26 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> I'll go see how the children are doing. You don't need me for anything, do you?
  17. [5:55:46 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne smirks.
  18. [5:58:20 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Right. Well, I'll be back.
  19. [5:58:45 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow exits the room and walks down the hall to the door of the children's room. She tries to open it.
  20. [5:59:22 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne continues to see to her pack and gear.
  21. [6:00:29 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The door to the children's room is locked.]
  22. [6:00:49 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow raps on the door with her knuckles.
  23. [6:01:51 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [There are some soft footsteps from the other side.]
  24. [6:02:01 PM CDT] <[Cy]> ???: Who is it?
  25. [6:02:37 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> It's Meadow. Is everyone awake in there?
  26. [6:03:04 PM CDT] <[Cy]> ???: Maybe. Who am I?
  27. [6:04:32 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> You? Glanari, clearly.
  28. [6:05:49 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [There is some giggling behind the door but no further answer to your question.]
  29. [6:06:32 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Come, now, open the door.
  30. [6:07:55 PM CDT] <[Cy]> ???+???: Why?
  31. [6:08:47 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne smiles, reasonably satisfied her items are in order. Picking up her greatsword in one hand and shouldering her pack in the other, Hanne exits the room into the hallway.
  32. [6:10:17 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> We need to be getting ready to be on our way. I was just hoping to check in on everyone and make sure that you all got a good night's rest, and were packed and ready to move on.
  33. [6:11:37 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne spots Meadow talking at the door and saunters up behind her.
  34. [6:12:05 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> What're you doing?
  35. [6:12:17 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Making sure the children are ready.
  36. [6:12:38 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne looks at the door, then back to Meadow.
  37. [6:12:56 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> Out here?
  38. [6:13:21 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow raises her voice slightly so that it can be heard on the other side.
  39. [6:14:19 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Well, Hanne, the door is locked, and they don't want to open it—I might need to ask you to chop the door down with your sword, and throw them out of the window, since they don't feel like coming out themselves.
  40. [6:14:50 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne laughs.
  41. [6:16:28 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> Resorting to violence are you Meadow? What's the matter, have the children gotten you tongue-tied? I'll have to decline - using my sword as an axe is bad for its blade.
  42. [6:17:00 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne snears as she mockingly pats Meadow on the back and walks by.
  43. [6:19:03 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow sighs.
  44. [6:20:57 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Well, I suppose that Hanne's got more concern for her blade than for the schedule. That's fine, we'll let the schedule speak for itself. Come out soon, or there might not be any breakfast left for you.
  45. [6:22:23 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne guffaws as she descends the stairs; loud enough for Meadow to hear from down the hall.
  46. [6:28:16 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow follows behind Hanne, walking down the steps to see what the caravan's activity is this morning.
  47. [6:31:15 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [You two are the first down to the lobby and dining area. However, you can see through the window that there is already a carriage outside.]
  48. [6:34:17 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow exits to get a closer look at the carriage and its equipage.
  49. [6:35:02 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne sets her pack down near the base of the stairs and stretches her arms.
  50. [6:35:36 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The carriage is enclosed but otherwise unassuming. Once closer to the window, you see a second separate cart stacked high with trunks and chests.]
  51. [6:37:33 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne glances at the cart outside the window before picking up her items and relocating to the dining area.
  52. [6:37:37 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow walks around the carrige and looks for anyone who looks like they may have brought it, or are otherwise manning it.
  53. [6:39:13 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [Two men, the drivers, are having a conversation while eating bread at the far side of the carriage.]
  54. [6:40:01 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The dining area is neatly prepared. One of the innkeepers by the kitchen gives Hanne a morning wave before he steps inside and out of view.]
  55. [6:40:03 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow listens to their conversation.
  56. [6:43:17 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne deposits her gear over on a nearby wall and removes her coat and sword belt; hanging them on the a chair before sitting down. In a pleasant mood, she begins to hum a tune while admiring the decor around the room.
  57. [6:47:04 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The drivers' conversation is mainly catching up on the recent days' events in town, while having their breakfast.]
  58. [6:47:54 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The gaggle of children descend from the stairs with their small packs, a bit more evenly divided than last night. Hanne can see that they are put together reasonably well; clearly at least one of them has been guiding them to orderliness.]
  59. [6:48:46 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow speaks to the drivers:
  60. [6:48:58 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Good morning. This is all for the folks in there?
  61. [6:49:02 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow points to the inn.
  62. [6:51:42 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Man, driver: Good morning to you, miss. We are here for the group staying at this inn.
  63. [6:52:35 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Just hauling their stuff?
  64. [6:55:05 PM CDT] <[Cy]> M,d: Stuff and persons! The carriage is for the people, the cart there for their belongings. Already picked up quite a few things from the tailors and the safe.
  65. [6:56:15 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> The safe?
  66. [6:57:05 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne gets up from her seat and walks to over to the counter near the kitchen.
  67. [6:57:41 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Man, driver 2: One of the lord's towers where valuables are kept before being picked up. We just call it the safe.
  68. [6:58:13 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow nods.
  69. [6:59:30 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> I see. It's not that long a trip, is it? We're not far from the sea here, right?
  70. [7:02:57 PM CDT] <[Cy]> M,d: Not at all, the road from here to the docks is well kept. Are you one of the party of travellers?
  71. [7:03:35 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow nods again.
  72. [7:03:38 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Indeed, I am.
  73. [7:06:41 PM CDT] <[Cy]> M,d2: Well why didn't you say so, ma'am? Would you like to get your belongings on the cart before the others?
  74. [7:07:34 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The sounds from the kitchen indicate breakfast is being made. The children have trickled into the dining area and the other adults are arriving as well.]\
  75. [7:08:38 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> I don't have much more than my day pack—but if it's all the same, then I'd be glad to get it out of the way.
  76. [7:10:16 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne takes a look back to see who has arrived.
  77. [7:12:01 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [Driver 2 sets his loaf back in his bag and brushes off his hands, walking to the cart and beckoning Meadow to follow.]
  78. [7:12:35 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow takes a step to follow the driver.
  79. [7:13:59 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [Just about everyone has come downstairs with their belongings by now, with the last one arriving just as the inn staff emerge from the kitchen with platters of assorted fruits, breads, and cheeses.]
  80. [7:15:56 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne returns to her table and sits.
  81. [7:23:16 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The driver puts Meadow's bags onto a safe spot on the baggage cart.]
  82. [7:23:43 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The breakfast is placed on a few tables, letting everyone come and pick at their leisure.]
  83. [7:25:16 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow gets her things stowed and walks back inside. She looks for the children, and smiles when she sees them downstairs. She walks over to them, checking over their mood and restedness.
  84. [7:28:00 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [The children are well put together, it's clear someone has been keeping them sorted out. However, two of them turn their noses at Meadow's approach in a teasing way.]
  85. [7:28:42 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne eyes Meadow as she places food onto her plate.
  86. [7:29:07 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow raises her eyebrows to meet their teasing snub. She starts to talk as she walks closer.
  87. [7:29:34 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Well, it's good to see you've all made it down! It would be a shame if we had to start our long trip on an empty stomach!
  88. [7:33:52 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Yeah yeah, wouldn't that be juuuust such a shame?
  89. [7:36:18 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow proceeds to scan the four children, giving each of them a look in turn.
  90. [7:36:26 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> But tell me, how many of you have gone sailing before?
  91. [7:38:34 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Marjolaine: I have.
  92. [7:38:40 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Did you really have to ask?
  93. [7:40:29 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne returns to her spot with her food in hand. Spotting Eucasia seated across the room, Hanne stops for a moment before collecting her things and walking over to her table.
  94. [7:40:54 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow looks at Tade and Sindr. Her eyebrows are raised inquisitively.
  95. [7:41:05 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> Good morning ma'am. May I eat with you?
  96. [7:41:46 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [Tade shakes his head, while Sindr avoids Meadow's eyes.]
  97. [7:42:22 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Eucasia <Mallivaean>: Go ahead.
  98. [7:43:41 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Well, then, I just want to warn you: if you're not used to it, don't eat too terribly much. Being at sea can make your stomach turn when you feel it for the first time.
  99. [7:45:33 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne bows her head politely before setting down her gear. Placing her food upon the table, she silently takes a seat across from the other swordswoman.
  100. [7:46:19 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: It's like being on a bed that someone else is jumping on. It's nothing big.
  101. [7:49:59 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Just something to keep in mind. Eat up, everyone.
  102. [7:52:05 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow picks a seat out for herself and selects primarily from the fruit and cheese to break her fast.
  103. [7:53:40 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne chews the first few bites of her meal in silence before swallowing. After staring at the rest of her food for a few moments, she asks:
  104. [7:54:13 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <Mallivaean> Could I ask you something?
  105. [7:54:41 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [Eucasia nods, still eating.]
  106. [7:55:54 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <Mallivaean> Are there others who escaped? Are they many?
  107. [7:58:20 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Eucasia <M>: Who do you mean?
  108. [8:00:26 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> From the kingdom before the Dominion. Although I suppose I'm really asking if you've met anyone else from Prasblund.
  109. [8:03:07 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Eucasia <M>: Maybe if I had ended up east, but no, I was wrecked and landed here.
  110. [8:03:49 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> I see.
  111. [8:04:20 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne takes another bite of her breakfast; chewing and swallowing fully before speaking.
  112. [8:05:09 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> You're the first person from the old kingdom I've met since first escaping.
  113. [8:08:12 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Eucasia <M>: Figures. Most people who had land chose to stay, to fight or die.
  114. [8:11:55 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> The Legion was annihilated. The 4 others I escaped with are the only ones I know to have survived that night.
  115. [8:16:05 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Eucasia <M>: And what did you do?
  116. [8:17:40 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [Glanari finishes filling her stomach and comes over to Meadow.]
  117. [8:17:45 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Where's your stuff?
  118. [8:17:54 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne takes a longing look to the side before turning back to Eucasia.
  119. [8:17:56 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow swallows.
  120. [8:18:47 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Packed into the cart outside. Are you finished with your meal? You can go talk to the drivers—they'll package up your things and get them ready for the trip.
  121. [8:19:38 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: And you didn't tell me; terrible, just terrible, master.
  122. [8:20:12 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> I didn't know myself until I'd come down and talked to the drivers. If you'd been a good girl and come when I called, you would've found out when I did.
  123. [8:20:16 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> One of them, a crossbowman whose name I never learned, was too heavily wounded and died after the third night. We buried him when we crossed the eastern border of the Duchy.
  124. [8:20:52 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne picks at some bread on her plate.
  125. [8:21:10 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Master, please, you must understand I have appearances to keep. How am I going to keep my social standing if I look like I listen to stodgy adults and do as they say?
  126. [8:21:32 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow smirks.
  127. [8:21:41 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Already at the top of the pecking order? And after just one night?
  128. [8:23:42 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Give me some credit, I've been a child for more years than you have been alive.
  129. [8:24:55 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Then perhaps I should shift your responsibilities to cover looking out for them. How were they, last night?
  130. [8:24:57 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> After that, in our group was the cook Max, Paul, a halberdier from the first company, and finally Heinrich, who was a lieutenant in the second I think. He disappeared into the night after we had left the Duchy.
  131. [8:25:58 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne pauses as she recounts her past.
  132. [8:26:38 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Positively angelic. Sindr is quite obedient and is obviously hiding something she wants to talk about. Marjolaine is naturally orderly and probably knows a lot more than she lets on. Tade is the little brother.
  133. [8:26:59 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow chuckles to herself.
  134. [8:27:03 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> That much is certain.
  135. [8:27:10 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> The girls didn't give him a hard time?
  136. [8:27:13 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> The rest of us mainly travelled for the next month, wandering aimlessly further away from home.
  137. [8:28:51 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: No, we aren't at that age yet, or haven't any role models to make us catty; well, I *could* be at that age, you know.
  138. [8:29:35 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Well, I'm glad they're getting along for now. And you, too—it sounds like you rather enjoyed your night.
  139. [8:31:17 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> Some time later, we came upon a small town where the local lord or chieftain or whatever was having some sort of conflict with another nearby town. We'd been running low on supplies at that point, so we offered our services as mercenaries.
  140. [8:31:39 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: That goes without saying, master. Watching them grow and develop will be wonderful.
  141. [8:32:05 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow smiles.
  142. [8:32:33 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Yes, indeed. I worry about what we're putting them through, though—Sindr in particular. I'm not entirely sure how I should be handling her.
  143. [8:34:42 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> Paul was killed by a stray arrow in the first battle and Max died shortly afterwards from disease. I continued travelling afterwards; finding work wherever I could to survive.
  144. [8:36:32 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Our presence is already keeping them far safer than what they'd experience if left to the wider world. Sindr may be an exception, but you probably shouldn't be the one to handle her. She's complained about you at length, you know. Now I know that I'm not the only one you take advantage of~
  145. [8:37:27 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow sighs.
  146. [8:37:33 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne 's expression softens as she tells her story; speaking in a gentle, reserved tone not commonly used by the soldier.
  147. [8:37:50 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> I know. But she insists that I be the one to train her.
  148. [8:39:23 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Then do so. She's going to make you pay, so you'd best not accrue too much interest on that debt. Hahah, you're in debt again!
  149. [8:39:56 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Eucasia <M>: Do you feel that you have been fortunate?
  150. [8:40:32 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> I used to have regrets. About living on. Some of those who died that night I'd known since I was a child.
  151. [8:41:07 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Technically, I never stopped. My current plan is simply never to visit the Confederation again.
  152. [8:41:11 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne stops to gather her words before continuing.
  153. [8:41:56 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> But that was my plan, too. I'll train her. One the one hand, it's the least I can do; on the other, I'm hoping to work on her by degrees. Perhaps, by the day she's able to best me in battle, she'll no longer desire to.
  154. [8:42:04 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Oh don't say that, it's wonderful there! I'll have to bring you sometime. How much did you owe again?
  155. [8:43:32 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> I never thought I could ever change that. But now. Now fate has given me the power to fight the enemy I couldn't those years before. And as long as I fight, the Legion still stands.
  156. [8:45:22 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow 's eyes roll up as she attempts to recall.
  157. [8:46:07 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Somehwere upwards of a hundred thousand? I feel like it was somewhere in the neighborhood of three hundred thousand, but I'm also not certain where that figure is coming from. I might still have the document somewhere.
  158. [8:46:09 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Eucasia <M>: Hmm. Then you may know that the dynasty stands as well; whereabouts unknown, but I believe they still live.
  159. [8:47:33 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: I wouldn't be surprised it was millions. You owed Sarana, right? It's probably millions by now, hahaha~
  160. [8:48:01 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow shakes her head, and she looks down to her food.
  161. [8:48:04 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> How do you know?
  162. [8:48:24 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> If I ever return, I'd need your protection, or it'll be worth more than my life in bondage.
  163. [8:48:43 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Rather, because it'll be worth more than my life in bondage.
  164. [8:50:47 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Oho, that'll cost you. Did you know that I haven't been able to best her before? Her lineage's sun magic is quite tricky. She once told me that she can see anywhere the sun shines, but now I definitely know it's a bluff. She's not showed up yet!
  165. [8:51:26 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> You think she'd be here if she knew where to find us? She'd have some way of getting here, collecting the debt, and getting back?
  166. [8:56:54 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Eucasia <M>: I was there, one of the last ships with the royal galleon.
  167. [8:57:36 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Didn't you see her magic? She can go where the sun goes, and sees what the sun sees. Even if the latter wasn't true, she has an uncanny tracking ability.
  168. [8:57:56 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow draws in a deep breath, and lets it out slowly.
  169. [8:58:06 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> I see.
  170. [8:58:35 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne smiles gently as she stares down at the table.
  171. [8:58:45 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> In that case, my debt is a much greater liability than I suspected. If she could truly appear to collect at any moment, all our operations have been in jeopardy since, and will continue to be until she's paid.
  172. [8:58:50 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> Then perhaps others from the Duchy made it out as well.
  173. [8:59:39 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Eucasia <M>: Perhaps.
  174. [9:00:01 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: We could just kill her; rather, you could just kill her.
  175. [9:00:20 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [Glanari gets that particular look in her eyes again.]
  176. [9:00:40 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> If you can't best her, what on Earth gives you the idea that I could?
  177. [9:01:49 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Just go to the time of her birth and kill her, or her mother. That would probably end up putting you on a different path altogether, but you'd be debt free at least.
  178. [9:04:43 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow is struck for a moment, and shakes her head after being frozen for a beat.
  179. [9:05:35 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Yes, a different path entirely. I don't think I'd want to make such a serious gambit, to say nothing of becoming an infanticide. Besides, my control over my power is still too weak to be able to do such a thing with any precision.
  180. [9:07:10 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Speaking of power. How come you haven't restored mine?
  181. [9:10:23 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne continues her meal. A few minutes pass of silent eating before she speaks again.
  182. [9:11:29 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Because I'm worried that you'll take yourself elsewhere as soon as you are able.
  183. [9:11:56 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> What's your plan, then? For your search.
  184. [9:15:41 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Eucasia <M>: There is no point in finding them if they do not have a country to return to. If it takes this island of backwards and bickering fools to begin the push back to Mallivaea, then that's what I'll use.
  185. [9:16:04 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: And what's that supposed to mean?
  186. [9:17:15 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Just what I said. I'm worried that you'll decide your independent operations would be more important than coordination with the State, and continue down whatever avenue you have decided for yourself is best.
  187. [9:17:59 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: You've got me all figured out, haven't you?
  188. [9:18:47 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow 's mouth draws back. Her brow furrows slightly.
  189. [9:19:12 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Glanari, you know as well as I do—far better, I'm sure—that I don't have anything figured out. All I do is worry.
  190. [9:22:01 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne takes in Eucasia's answer. She faces the warrior and opens her mouth to respond, but unable to find the words she turns away; looking down at the scraps left on her plate.
  191. [9:22:09 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Hmph, and so you're worried I will use my powers to take revenge on everyone and leave?
  192. [9:23:28 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Revenge? No, not at all. I like to think I know you better than that, at least. I'm worried that you'll end up working at cross-purposes with us, rather than in harmony.
  193. [9:27:09 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: Well at least you are not naive. Then I'll tell you straight, I will do what I want with my powers after I regain them. You just have to evaluate whether or not you can afford to have me powerless and maybe dead because of it.
  194. [9:29:24 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Yes. I know that's the decision I have to make. And I'm worried that if I decide wrongly, many will die, and the fate of the war may swing in the wrong direction.
  195. [9:30:27 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Perhaps it's merely cowardice and indecision, the same things that have lead to as much ruin as I've already supervised, threatening to create even more—but I still can't see this as a decision to be made lightly. I know you will do as you will with your powers, as you have ever done. But am I willing to gamble that you'll do the right thing with them? That's the question.
  196. [10:05:09 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: What do you think the answer is?
  197. [10:06:09 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> This next assignment, it's not the kind I'm accustomed to.
  198. [10:06:19 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> If I thought I had you, and it, and everything else figured out, I would have let you know by now.
  199. [10:09:52 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Eucasia <M>: We are not diplomats, so we should only be there as a show. There will likely be a local lord who will take care of the courtly matters, we just have to show our competence.
  200. [10:10:06 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Glanari: But I am asking you now.
  201. [10:10:29 PM CDT] <[Multi]_Meadow> Then my answer to you is the traditional one: I don't know.
  202. [10:12:09 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne nods.
  203. [10:14:48 PM CDT] <[Cy]> [Glanari returns to her posse with an exaggerated huff.]
  204. [10:15:46 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow puts her forehead in her hand and leans against it with her elbow on the table. After a couple breaths, she looks back to her breakfast, and resumes eating.
  205. [10:16:09 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Eucasia <M>: It will be good practice, however. Learn how life was like in the court, or something similar at least.
  206. [10:17:34 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne leans back in her chair and looks up at the ceiling.
  207. [10:18:03 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> The court, huh?
  208. [10:23:01 PM CDT] <[Cy]> Eucasia <M>: We will probably run into a bit of it. May as well learn from it here.
  209. [10:24:31 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne looks over her shoulder at the other members of the Wayward.
  210. [10:25:07 PM CDT] * [Multi]_Meadow is putting a piece of cheese in her mouth.
  211. [10:25:27 PM CDT] * [110]_Hanne turns back to Eucasia.
  212. [10:25:46 PM CDT] <[110]_Hanne> <M> I'll do my utmost.
