  1. The storm beckoned him.
  2.
  3. Arthur knew that the mastery of Storm was nearing, so close that he could almost reach out to it with the palm of his hand and take it- and yet, there was a struggle to truly wield the Storm at its full efficiency. Perhaps it's about setting the new standard of his casting technique, or maybe it's about actually pushing oneself to the new limits?
  4.
  5. He didn't know. He had to try, anyway.
  6.
  7. The weather at the ocean was befitting such casting as much as possible. Cool air swirling around the shores, humid weather with the breeze, and waves washing over the rocks with the resounding roar that could echo even a good mile away. That's exactly what he wanted during such a night.
  8.
  9. Everything about Storm begins with preparations, and this occasion was no different. Choosing to accelerate the cool air swirling about, he also immediately knew that he would need to actually create a current of hot air as well, one that would counteract the cold air and condense it- otherwise, no Storm, no cyclone would be possible.
  10.
  11. A common law of physics to him at this point.
  12.
  13. By utilizing his wind and lightning magic, he employed the cold and warm waves of air that swirled up in the sky. Considering the setup that ocean had, the effect was almost immediate- the sky blackened, and the first thunder roared through the atmosphere, warning of its coming.
  14.
  15. The time was now.
  16. (Arthur Rowan)
  17.
  18. The challenge of the Storm was not the easy one.
  19.
  20. Containing the condensed air that was creating the maelstrom in the skies, he knew that he'd need to employ his best casting technique in order to actually hold the form of this elemental fury. As always, he'd employ the Mixed casting, a joint effort of three different techniques in order to ensure absolute success.
  21.
  22. Symbolic magic had the fuel from his desire to succeed, to actually raise Valmasia from its ashes, and to usurp the power of Chaos- doubtless that he was not going to be an effective magi if he would not possess a decently powerful strength beforehand, and because of that, he aimed a lot of his effort to grasping the Storm like that.
  23.
  24. The Cognitive casting relied on his strong willpower, one that shifted the mana through his circuits with amazing precision, if only to visualize the process of creating the Storm right infront of his eyes. It was the driving force, the accuracy of which could not be doubted. One could even argue that Arthur was naturally gifted, to be grasping such complicated techniques so young. But again, he was already powerful, wasn't he?
  25.
  26. And the last, but by far not least, the Reflexive magic allowed him to maintain several processes at once. It was the challenging task of constantly creating the condensed air via heated and cold air, and also supplying the lightning up in the skies, both to maintain a special temperature and actually create thunder.
  27.
  28. Humidity was to be raised as well, but that's the next stage.
  29. (Arthur Rowan)
  30.
  31. Working the change in the weather was one thing.
  32.
  33. But constructing a full-fledged Storm at this point? It was something completely different. He knew that he needed to concentrate large amounts of humidity, maintain the proper air pressure from both warm and cold winds, and also ensure that there's an appropriate flow of lightning energy up in the sky, to make sure that the Storm would actually trigger.
  34.
  35. And while at it?
  36.
  37. Of course he needed to surround himself in the similar field of Storm magic. Bending the weather to unleash such elemental fury was certainly beneficial, but it would be all almost for naught if he didn't know how to draw the power of the Storm itself. Such preparation needed to be done- much as if he'd act like a lightning rod, the lightning energy surged back from the clouds, directed both by his magic and by natural physics.
  38.
  39. The lightning struck him.
  40.
  41. Instead of damaging him, or doing any harm, it was the type of energy to swarm around him instead, proving itself to be a defending shield, one that would almost ensure he would not be harmed by how furious the Storm is about to be. The electricity surged in him too, combined with the winds that aggressively swirled around the local area next to Arthur, and one thing was certain.
  42.
  43. It was time to unleash the greatest Storm he's ever made.
  44. (Arthur Rowan)
  45.
  46. The hell itself was about to be raised.
  47.
  48. With so much charge pent up in the air, with so much lightning soaring through the skies that were generated by the Storm magic that Arthur made, it became quickly evident that the skies have turned pitch black, much like the Doom itself has descended upon Eternia, looming over a horizon and threatening to wipe out everything in existence.
  49.
  50. Luckily, that's not the case.
  51.
  52. Despite that, it was still a threatening, intimidating, perhaps even horrifying sight. The thunder roared with the might of thousand Lions, the ground was shaken under the sound of charged strikes of lightning, and the wind was powerful enough to make a man go deaf. Bending such elemental fury wasn't easy- the tornado was pouring on straight against Arthur's face, forcing his eyelids to be half closed.
  53.
  54. But he didn't give up. It was too late to go back now, and he wouldn't just dispel the storm as in many other instances he's done. Instead, a silent mutter spilled his lips, and the grip of the element has clutched, forcing the gale to pour out and unleash its terrifying power.
  55.
  56. "Unleash it all."
  57.
  58. Much like on his command, the entire Storm broke out in an instant, clearly generated by the magic that was beyond being simply powerful at this point- no, it was truly overwhelming even, enough to kill dozens, perhaps even hundreds on spot. The wind blew with the force of thousand horses, the lightning has struck the ground with horrifying frequency, and the thunder never ceased.
  59.
  60. A masterpiece of Storm, at last.
  61. (Arthur Rowan)
  62.
  63. This theatre of destruction was a thing to behold.
  64.
  65. But as far as all beautiful things go, everything has an end, including his masterpiece. The raging storms across the ocean were, no doubt, strong enough to deal with even most durable magi, but alas, it did cost a large strain to keep it up for long. With time, after all of the damage upon the land was inflicted, it began to fade.
  66.
  67. And rightfully so.
  68.
  69. The storms have calmed. While the localized link to the Storm around Arthur persisted, thus granting him connection to the power it gave, there was no more of a literal landscape across the ocean; something prevented him from maintaining it for indefinite amount of time, and probably, it wasn't hard to guess that it was due to amounts of mana it took.
  70.
  71. But he's done it. Isn't that already worth something?
  72.
  73. Arthur was satisfied with his results. At last, he created the Storm that he's been looking forward to for so long- atlast, he's come to the mastery of it, and at last, it was over. All of these years of strenuous training, all of these years of practising with the most complicated casting techniques, all of it paid off.
  74.
  75. And he was satisfied.
  76.
  77. "...I did it. Finally."
  78. (Arthur Rowan)
