- FAQ: (rules at the bottom if you're curious)
- Q: What is the max% you can do before completing chores?
- A: 78% is the most you can do before completing chores. Here are the final totals for everything if you're curious:
- Furniture (453/601)
- Wallpaper (47/67)
- Carpet (48/67)
- Clothing (220/247)
- Items (38/64)
- Stationery (62/64)
- Gyroids (127/127)
- Music (1/55)
- Fish (40/40)
- Insects (38/40)
- Fossils (25/25)
- Paintings (15/15)
- Goals (1/8)
- Q: How are you able to get tools??
- A: In the police station, there is a 1/100 chance of 1 of the 4 tools spawning (net, shovel, rod, axe). Honestly if it wasn't for this, this challenge would not really be as interesting since the tools add so much to the game.
- Q: So what 2 bugs are missing?
- A: Ant & Mosquito. You can't catch an ant because you need candy or spoiled turnips, both of which are impossible to obtain. Mosquito is interesting. It actually does spawn, but for some reason the devs made it so it instanly despawns as soon as it appears, making it impossible to catch. I guess they did this so players wouldn't get bitten during chores? I don't know honestly but it's whatever since the ant is also impossible.
- Q: Why can't you get the golden axe?
- A: So you can actually get a perfect town, but for some reason even if you have a perfect town for 15 days, Farley will never spawn. Therefore you can't get the golden axe.
- Q: Isn't the coelacanth impossible since it doesn't rain during chores?
- A: Well you would be right, except you can access the island before doing chores, and it does rain on the island! This lets us get a coelacanth on the island. So 1 of the 8 goals is just barely possible. lmao
- Q: Don't certain villagers wear Gracie shirts?
- A: Yes they do. And it is possible to get their Gracie shirt. What you do is accept a task to give that certain villager a new shirt, and there's a chance that the reward will be the Gracie shirt they were wearing previously. The only problem with all this is to even do villager tasks, you must start chores which we're not doing in this so it's impossible. I gotta say though if this was possible before entering Nooks, then this challenge would've added a whole other layer of difficultly since there's 18 villagers I'd need to find at that point. Credit to BrianMp16 for confirming this.
- Q: What villagers wear Gracie shirts?
- A: Here's the list of villagers that wear Gracie shirts:
- Kabuki/Rizzo - Lavender Robe (can be gotten from Redd e-reader card from Series 2)
- Monique - Grape Shirt
- Stinky - Splendid Shirt
- Admiral - Orange Pinstripe
- Robin - Kiwi Shirt
- Egbert/Gaston - Swell Shirt
- Vladimir - Tiger Print (can be gotten from Bitty villager code)
- Patty - Citrus Shirt
- Ribbot - Pulse Shirt
- Velma - Cool Shirt
- Bubbles - Crossing Shirt
- Winnie - Cow Print (can be gotten from Belle e-reader card from Series 3)
- Ozzie - Giraffe Print
- Static - Melon Shirt
- Nibbles - Watermelon Shirt
- Wolfgang - Gracie's Top (can be gotten from Gracie e-reader card from Series 4)
- Sally - Ladybug Shirt
- Alli - Leopard Print
- Q: Why are you able to get certain items that are supposed to be impossible?
- A: So if you haven't heard of e-reader cards, they were essentially the old "amiibo" cards that let you scan the cards in game and get special rewards and whatnot. On the back of the card, there's also a password that you send to a villager conveniently. You can obtain stationery in the dump or police station pretty easily and can still send letters to villagers so you can use villager codes. Some of these cards have passwords that give useful items for this challenge. These items are:
- Series 1:
- Tom Nook - Work Uniform
- Series 2:
- Boy (1) - Station Model 14
- Boy (2) - Station Model 15
- Girl (1) - Pansy Model 1
- Girl (2) - Cosmos Model 3
- Pelly - Diary
- Jingle - Jingle Lamp
- Franklin - Harvest TV
- Series 3:
- Boy (3) - Station Model 13
- Boy (5) - Tulip Model 2
- Boy (6) - Station Model 8
- Girl (3) - Station Model 12
- Katrina - Tribal Mask
- Gulliver - Bottled Ship
- Tom Nook - Station Model 2
- Timmy & Tommy - Station Model 5 & Station Model 6
- Series 4:
- Boy (8) - Station Model 10
- Girl (5) - Station Model 9
- Girl (7) - Moai Statue
- Girl (8) - Station Model 15 (also from Boy (2))
- Jack - Spooky Lamp
- Bitty - Tiger Print
- Wisp - Station Model 3
- Wart Jr. - Sandlot
- Mr. Resetti - Tulip Model 2 (can be gotten from Boy (5))
- The "Boy" and "Girl" ones are from the minigame cards which unlock sets of passwords. I actually had to play the minigames myself to get them since they weren't documented online anywhere. I could only find the rewards for the minigames, but not the passwords themselves. If you'd like to see the list of all the passwords from the minigames, as well as the character cards, click here: https://pastebin.com/8F3Zd5EP
- Scanning the cards themselves is another story. Of course, these cards are very old, so obtaining them is going to be very difficult. They go for around $8 PER CARD, yeah. A lot of them are just impossible to find. Thankfully, there's a solution for this, emulator. Yeah, you can emulate the e-reader and scan the dot code file instead which I'll allow for this challenge. I'll just import my save file (using GCMM but only for this use and to make backups, but no save scumming still) Here's what I did to get it to work:
- Download Dolphin 5.0
- Get the Animal Crossing.iso file (so you can use it with Dolphin)
- Download VBA-M 2.1.4
- Get the BIOS for the GBA
- The e-reader GBA ROM
- The e-reader card raw files themselves (pretty easy to find them)
- In VBA (Visual Boy Advance), click "Emulation", then uncheck "Pause when inactive". Next hit "Options" then "Game Boy Advance" then "Use BIOS file" then click "Configure" and hit "Boot ROM" then load the Bios file there. Next click "Options" then click "Link" then check "Local Mode" and "Link at Boot" then set the type to "GameCube".
- In Dolphin, go to the controller config then have one of the ports (2-4) set to "GBA".
- If it doesn't work, then check Windows Firewall Settings and see if it's blocking the connection. This really wasn't meant to be a tutorial but it kinda was. It's just what I did to make it work.
- So here's the list of items that are obtained through scanning the cards:
- Promo Card:
- K.K. Ska
- Series 2:
- Saharah/Marcy - Tropical Floor
- Jingle - Jingle Piano
- Redd - Lavender Robe
- Limberg - Sand Garden
- Camofrog - Office Flooring
- Franklin - Harvest Sofa
- Series 3:
- Wendell - Tropical Vista
- Gulliver - Chinese Lion
- Belle - Cow Print
- Series 4:
- Gracie - Gracie's Top
- Jack - Spooky Clock
- Gengi - Garden Wall
- Oxford - Blue Tarp
- Wisp - Snowy Tree Model
- Mr. Resetti - Pansy Model 3
- Q: Are you allowed to use the island to get items?
- A: Yes. Banning it would be silly since I need to use the island anyway to get some island items. And one could theoretically get all the furniture items before getting all the island items (very very unlikely but still) so banning it wouldn't make sense. Also for wallpaper, clothing, etc. I won't be banning either since I don't want to ban half of something.
- Q: Why can't you get Extra Bridge? Can't you get 15 villagers?
- A: This is similar to the golden axe. Yes, you can get 15 villagers to move in, but since tortimer is always at the wishing well, he will never be at the area where he asks you to build another bridge, so this is impossible. Credit to BrianMp16 for confirming this.
