- Nations/Factions.
- The City of Milune.
- The setting of a lot of your following adventures. Milune is quite the advanced city. Walled off, from the surrounding world, it is firmly integrated into the surrounding forests, with massive roots coming out of the ground and into the city. Trees grow around the streets, and a river (branching out quite a bit) goes through the city.
- A lot of glass and solar panels have been integrated into the agriculture, and a lot of operations are carried underground, by automata. Most people find work in teaching, artisanship, medicine, some engineering, research, arts, sports, defense etc, etc. However there are those who wish to deal in more menial labour, as well, hence why you can find the occasional flesh-being in the lower portions of the city.
- Similarly, automata that attain sentience (or humans who have modified themselves enough to count as purely mechanical entities, or non-human made automata), are allowed to dwell in the surface, as they please.
- There is little in the way of city leadership. A mayor is selected once in four years, yes, but he is also held down by the Council, an organization of similarly elected fellows, who provide advice and suggestions. As well as, stop the mayor from doing stupid things.
- Magi aren't a rarity in Milune, compared to the rest of the world, but they are still rare nevertheless. Some decide to hide their powers, and only use them for small time purposes. Others join the MDF, and others further, join the Magus Syndicate.
- The, "unlucky" ones whose powers alter their appearance a bit too much, enlist with the Free Magi.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- The Magus Syndicate
- An organization that protects Magus rights, and their place in society. Due to the presence of supernatural powers, quite a few problems can arise, when considering identification, employment, or even education (Several magi have been identified because they had powers that allowed them to cheat in exams). The Association helps Magi keep their old life stable, or if it is unfortunately damaged beyond repair, find a new one.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Free Magi
- Originally a movement organized by a very respected Magus, who was not allowed to show herself to the public, due to the fact that her magic had altered even her untransformed state, to an inhuman appearance. The organization reaches out to all Magi who not only have problems with their untransformed and transformed appearance, but also can't control their powers, or possess naturally dangerous or harmful ones, and help them put these things to the best use, and deal with the prejudice.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Magus Defense Force.
- Most significant, to the city is the Magus Defense Force, an organization that seeks to help Magi attain their power, so that they can defend the city, and the world from the Taint. They provide shelter, training, schooling and even contact with Guardians, to help organize teams. Their origins are unknown, and they seem to influence much past the city of Milune. Their enemy, is the throne of Maldrobog itself, and Milune is the location of their (as some believe, current and temporary) headquarters.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- The Elevated Republic of Torbis
- It is said the Republic begun with a cult of sorts, that preached of a forgotten history. Of ancient creatures, that fell from the sky, in order to reshape the world, to make it a better place. Originally they were said to possess fearsome, supernatural powers. The descendants of this cult still cultivate the image, yet very few people actually buy it. They do pay respects though, since the cult is still in power, and supported by quite a bit of military power.
- Torbis is a primarily agrarian nation, with some factories, and industrial power existing in separate industrial zones. Their military receives a lot of funding, and a career in the military is considered very reputable, second only to joining the "Cult". Torbis suffers little from monster attacks, due to them being attracted to the Magi...therefore, Milune.
- Torbian Magi are quite rare, and the ones who aren't taken by the MDF, either live on their own, perhaps infiltrating into the cult, or perhaps even living another life, subtly and stealthily using their powers, or are taken in by the government/cult, and used as propaganda, or bodyguards, or if their powers are more mundane, assigned a position that will make the most use of them.
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- The Throne of Maldrobog
- The unseen, mysterious leadership of the monsters, and the source of the Taint, most likely. They possess great destructive power, and are direct enemies to the Magus Defense Force. Some say, this has been going on for centuries, and that the more it takes, the less restraint is shown by both sides. With the Taint's new effect on humans, even the city of Milune is not safe... It seems, the conflict might be drawing to a dangerous close, quite soon.
