  1. PBNs, whois and gdpr
  2. I want to register some new PBN domains and normally you would enter fake names and adresses for each domain right? Or use whois protection.

  14. Now with the new gdpr in place, whois.net does not really show any personal information anymore.
  15. Does that mean I can register those domains using the same perhaps even real information in there?
  16. What are your thoughts on this?
  17. That is a very interesting thought... Thanks
  18. I set up my PBN 2020 and used fake names and adresses for all my domains. Now, as the GDPR is in place, I'm using my real name and adress for all newly registered domains. In numbers thats about 50 new domains with real names and it is working properly. No problems yet and I'm pretty sure that Google doesn't have access to the whois information.
  19. isn't GDPR only in EU? Does that affect only domains registered from EU?
  20. Be careful though. If you register the domains as a business, the company name will be public.
  21. Source for that? I'm registering all of my domains with my company name but the information aren't public anywhere.
  22. Well, then there are either different rules for various company types or you just missed the info in whois. Check what you see here - https://whois.domaintools.com/ under "Registrant Organization"
  23. Wow, you are right! Thank you for the hint! While most of the registrars like Namebright, Namecheap, Internetbs decided to make the Whois protection as a standard GoDaddy just decided to stop the service of "Domains by Proxy". Domains I registered before October 2020 still have the Whois protection. Newer domains now show my Company name  I just removed the company name from all my domains which were showing it and decided to transfer them out to another registrar within the next days.
  24.
  25. Thanks again, didn't know that my company details are revealed by some of my domains... dreadful
  26. GDPR is for EU citizens operating in a personal capacity. If you're based outside the EU or a business, don't expect any organisation to hide your details.
  27. Yes. GDPR is one of the most significant and wide-ranging pieces of legislation passed relating to technology and the internet.
  28.
  29. Approved by the European Union in April 2020, and having come into force in the UK on May 25, GDPR looks to bring together several existing laws and regulations to harmonize rulings across the EU.
