  1. The Dragon and the Snake
  2.
  3. The darkened realm of Hollow Bastion held little effort for anyone, be they villain or hero, to have a positive aspect on ‘life’. Darkness was consuming it, Chaos thrived off it, and Maleficent remembered all the meetings and bickering that happened within its stone walls.
  4.
  5. A sigh left her jet black draconic throat, her eyes gleaming within her chambers as she began to think of all those moments prior to them interfering with the Keyblade Master known as ‘Sora’.
  6.
  7. The very thought of the sheer name along gave her enough hatred, enough malice, to destroy an entire world! The little brat had ruined all of their plans to finally conquer the light at its weakest moment, ironically beating her fellow villains when they were too much consumed in their darkness.
  8.
  9. Though she began to shift from side to side, her Dragon form filling most of the space within the chamber as she mused over a great many thoughts from previous moments.
  10.
  11. The bickering between Captain Hook and Oggie Bogie, Hades constantly toying with Ursula, along with some other interesting dialogues that happened while they reigned as a council of darkness.
  12.
  13. But her eyes, her mind, stopped when she came to the thought of a particular villain; Jafar of Agribba. He was a grand vizier of that world, plotting to take it over when the heartless had gained absolute victory when the keyhole was located. The sorcerer was always…devious to her.
  14.
  15. A bit too much for his own good, as one too devious, too ambitious, would eventually be consumed by the darkness within their hearts.
  16.
  17. Which happened to him, as expected, but she felt…disheartened that it indeed happened. Her scales brushed against the stone placements of her chamber, her breath growing restless as she thought of what Jafar was and who he was.
  18.
  19. Those were two important questions, which had their own…contradictory answers. Why having the contradiction? They had them because he seemed to have…two faces, always. One was respectful towards her, obedient, a bit flirty here and there.
  20.
  21. Yet thoroughly loyal towards her and the goal of the villains; domination through unity. His darkened snake-like smile appeared within her mind, as she gave a malevolent chuckle when that object entered the evil mind of Maleficent. He was always snake-like, and his snake form rivaled the power and size of her own dragon form.
  22.
  23. A long, large, cobra was his snake form: possessing a blood red coat with yellow-avarice eyes, along with a darkened yet black coat of scales just like herself. The hubris, bravado, and so much more all in one being was somewhat intoxicating to the queen.
  24.
  25. But she had nothing in mind of him, just as it was the same to him most likely. Although she did miss his company dearly, missing a competent general to lead the armies of heartless against king Mickey and his forces of light. All she had now was that imbecile, Pete.
  26.
  27. She had freed him from the captivity of the King’s castle, but now she was more so regretting freeing him rather than letting him rot.
  28.
  29. While Jafar, ambitious as he may have been, was very cunning and calculative. Using the heartless to his best advantage, trying to play on others emotions in order to win the day, even his ambition for power made him a fierce adversary when it was just within his reach. It’s how he almost dealt with Sora…almost.
  30.
  31. If he hadn’t been so consumed within that ambition, he might have won the day. But…he fell for their trap, allowed himself to become a genie and suffered for his mistake. That’s what he was…but not who, well not wholly.
  32.
  33.
  34. The ‘who’ part was more complicated, a bit more away from the ‘black and white’ perspective often heroes and villains shared towards the other and each other. In actuality it seemed Jafar shared some interests in the control of everything as did she, but he wasn’t keen on sharing.
  35.
  36. That was expected, all villains were out for each other in the end. “The end justifies the means” was the motto on betrayal between villains, as the power they gained would free them from the constrains they currently had.
  37.
  38. Though…for all the time she had spent with him, be it on battle plans or on casual talk, it seemed that part of villainy was not shown towards her. A small smirk crawled on her face, showing her draconic teeth, as a signal that it was an obvious weakness of the ‘powerful Grand Vizier’.
  39.
  40. But a problem came to her mind; which was “was it just a façade?” since villains had to keep up two images at times. Ones who seem to ‘help’ the hero, and then the other side that will hinder the hero in any way possible.
  41.
  42. It’s the first rule, a law in darkness, a code which the villains stand by. “One must have cunning in order to be a ruler of darkness”. The rule, all in all, was perfect for her malevolent self.
  43.
  44. Yet it clearly prevented any long time friendship between villains, for all wanted a grab at absolute power. Would it be no different in Ursula’s eyes? It certainly wouldn’t be a problem for Hades to claim all power, since his brothers took any recognition of him away for themselves. The same story could be said for Jafar…though if it was true he either had big plans for her or simply did not abide that rule when around her.
  45.
  46. It could very well be either or, since to tell a villains motives simply by the time spent together with them is never enough of a factor to explain how they will make their next move. Sure it was possible if you have a clichéd, unoriginal villain who does the exact same thing countless times.
  47.
  48. But Jafar…he was not predicable, never clichéd, always had a new plan to divide and conquer. He also had a certain aspect about him that seemed to make her feel “happy”, in a sense of enjoyment.
  49.
  50. That usually meant he was either causing chaos and spreading darkness, or being good in company. The mistress of all evil had her expectations when it came down to allies when in company with each other, for even in darkness must there be a status quo to follow if one is to succeed in one’s mission.
  51.
  52. There was also that certain hiss of his in the snake form that was very…pleasurable to hear. It was also quite entertaining to hear, especially when words with the letter ‘s’ were involved within his statements.
  53.
  54. Though at that moment a pain within her chest came to fruition, the ‘true darkness’ within her heart wanting to consume her whole being. Yet she still bore a smirk…not even she the mistress of evil could resist ‘true darkness’ for very long.
  55.
  56. No one could to be honest, since all others were consumed by it. Clayton was killed by his consumed darkness, Ursula was destroyed by her power, and Jafar…even he was consumed by the darkness. Though those consumed by darkness can be returned so long as Hades remained alive, which thankfully he was.
  57.
  58.
  59. In truth the other villains became somewhat a family to her, but this was only a part emotion when people become ‘close’ or had much time together. They were almost like brothers and sisters to her, as they usually relied on each other for support if one got in trouble.
  60.
  61. Ironically they never came to each other’s aid…she watched, regrettably, as they fell to the Keyblade. At first Maleficent thought it was justified, that they didn’t have enough power to defeat the Keyblade, but now it was different in her mind.
  62.
  63. Now it was because they were alone fighting him, not in any unified fashion. They let each other die so the most ‘powerful’ would defeat the Keyblade master. It was pure failure at utilizing team work in order to win, they were playing against their own chess pieces really.
  64.
  65. Was it in their nature? Perhaps…villains always sought to scheme plans to overthrow enemies or allies in order to rule ‘over all’. So, in turn, they’d just watch each other fall.
  66.
  67. Though does that not mean there would be no regret in their decisions? No remorse for such actions? If so, then some evil must have left her side…
  68.
  69. In any case the dragon continued to thrash about until a blue-colored man with blue fire as ‘hair’ came into her sigh within her chambers.
  70.
  71. By that and his attire, a black robe marked with a skull to keep it together, this was obviously Hades coming for the ritual she wanted. The resurrection of the former villains who had died previously at the hands of the keybearer.
  72.
  73. Hell, the only reason she was alive were for two reasons: One was because of the true darkness being awakened, though the hindering effect was her forever remaining with this form due to the taint attaching to her heart, and the other reason was Hades finding her soul within he River Styx.
  74.
  75. A grim smirk came upon the lord of death’s face, stating clearly and boldly, “Hey, Maleficent babe, so how are we going to do this…resurrection when clearly you can’t come to the Underworld, where the River Styx is, and when I can not enter any realm of darkness because…well you know I’m only a god of the dead. I’m not that very intricate on realms of darkness or controlling the heartless. So unless it’s just going to be the two of us planning these evil schemes, which I must say are fantastic babe, then I just clearly see no point in me being here currently.”
  76.
  77. Maleficent gave an irritated growl, she was never one to like Hades commentary, that filled the chamber to a freighting extent. Yet Hades showed no fear, only amusement at the dragon’s irritation.
  78.
  79. “YOU know how we’re going to do this, Hades! You are going to use the power of darkness, and the heartless, in order to create a portal which will bring back our fallen allies! Or don’t tell me you are already become so careless that you have forgotten the simplest of orders?”, she said with a small smirk coming on her facial features.
  80.
  81. Maleficent, more often than not, took pride in ordering around other villains who needed to get their work done, be it for the villain in a singular sense or for the whole council of villains.
  82.
  83. Hades, also, gave a slight expression of irritation, yet it disappeared as quickly as it formed. “Well, babe, we’d need a large energy source in order to bring about this portal. So unless you want to use every single heartless within this castle, we won’t be able to create that portal. I mean, come on, I’m not omnipotent!”
  84. She simply gave a small smirk, as Hades saw what she meant by ‘using the heartless’. The heartless, apparently, were the power source for this ritual to begin and end.
  85.
  86. Using darkness in order to open a portal to darkness, which will close when the amount of darkness is taken from it. Then it will respawn those heartless, in their purest form, as they’re hearts would have been consumed by this portal.
  87.
  88. It was an exchange of equal value, which means it would have to be exactly equal in proportions of power which were exchanged.
  89.
  90. Though the problem was; it was risky. If something was off something, or someone, might not be wholly back or back at all. So what was sacrificed was a very important, if not gigantic , ordeal.
  91.
  92. And, yet again, another protest came from lord of the underworld. “Ah…I see”, he began calmly but then got very skeptical, “So you’re telling me you’re going to sacrifice many of our strongest heartless within this castle just to bring our little gang back together? I don’t know if its stupid and foolish or quite caring of someone who claims to be the mistress of all evil! And what do we even get as heartless in return? We won’t get any of those fancy pure-bloods, that’s for sure!”
  93.
  94. But his protest fell on deaf ears, as she retorted with her usual attire of a calculative, cunning, voice. “Hades…if we do not bring them back, thus we the only remaining two, do you even think we could possible win or even scheme of any plans from now until we fade away? We must correct our previous mistakes, act as one villainous force instead of trying to remain independent of each other. If we do not…then we will die yet again. Do you purposely want to lose to that demi-god Hercules and your brother Zeus again? Since they have foiled your plans, along with Sora, which makes a total count of…”, but before she could state how many times he did actually lose to them he gave her a frustrated, but complimentary, voice.
  95.
  96. “Alright, ALRIGHT! I’ll do this little ritual if it’ll mean I’ll finally be able to not only teach those two oh so mighty gods a lesson but that little brat as well! Been a thorn in my side ever since I let him into that damned coliseum…”, Hades continued with his speech of hatred about them but only it mutters.
  97.
  98.
  99. He, like any other villain, kept his own personal grievances to himself. That was, yet, another rule in following darkness. Your own personal problems, your tragic tale of why you became what you are now, remains with you until you reach your grave.
  100.
  101. It was not indeed wise to tell any, especially villains, of how you indeed became a villain. For one; it could be used against you in case they betray you. A second, more dire, reason is that you might be “redeemed” in the bastion of light!
  102.
  103. It is practically the lowest of the low a villain can reach, betraying not their allies but the goal of darkness and power itself. Power, jealous, anger, greed were reasons they became villains.
  104.
  105. Unjustified treatment of their true potential! To turn away is one of a cowards path…one she did not wish to see in any villain she came in contact with.
  106.
  107. Although as she thought on yet another law villains followed it appeared an army of various heartless came into her chambers. Knights, Guardians, Wyverns, Wizard, and so many more heartless…her final battalion in case of another invasion of the Keyblade master.
  108.
  109. Hades sighed at the countless emblem heartless to be sacrificed in order to bring back a total of four to five villains. It seemed such a waste to him, when they could have easily taken over the city nearby Hollow Bastion that wasn’t relatively protected in the time being.
  110.
  111. “You absolutely sure, Maleficent? For this just seems like a waste…”, he was interrupted by an annoyed dragon. “I already told you, foolish imbecile, that you’d regret our situation more if we didn’t bring them back. Either Sora will bring your end, or your end will come from DARKNESS!”
  112.
  113. He somewhat shuddered at this comment, though she barely meant it…kind of. It was true she could have done this herself, but she was not lord of the dead. She did not know how to have them come back in the right bodies nor how to make sure their souls were the correct darkened ones.
  114.
  115. But he nodded, cracking his fingers in a ‘professional’ way. “Okay, little draconic lady, stand back! Or shuffle back…or whatever it is you’d say in order to get clear, since this’ll take a lot of room you know. I mean we’re sacrificing an army of various emblem heartless!”, but she just gave him a glare that only spoke; “I know, idiot.”
