- created first material - aurarum nintendo purple PLA
- created first machine - prusa i3 mk3/mk3s - didnt change default values
- created first test session
- named first run
- material aurarum nintendo purple
- machine prusa i3 mk3/mk3s
- optimization strategy aesthetics
- first layer track height
- 0.12 - 0.22
- 15-30mm/s (changed due to less than 10 clogging in my previous experience)
- 60 heat bed temp
- 215 extruder temp
- Generate .GCODE file button fails. asks to enter a valid number in the 0.12 first layer track input field
- at this stage I was using microsoft edge. opened chrome and Generate .GCODE file button works now.
- copied file to card, running gcode
- machine bed leveled twice which was abnormal compared to other gcode generated with prusaslicer
- probable cause is double g28 without addition of W
- line 2 and again at line 6
- https://forum.prusaprinters.org/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk2-s-others-archive/g28-w-g80-solved/
- settings for test lost from edge, speed reverted to default 5-20. this wasnt noticed due to text field failure in edge bug
- bed leveled again after print completed caused again by the use of g28 without addition of W. should look like G28 W;
- printer LCD information output stuck in heating... loop.
- the fifth line from the bottom in the gcode m190 s20 in the end footer
- rebooted printer just in case.
- re-doing test with lower extruder temp and a slight increase in speed
- 0.12 - 0.26
- 10-30mm/s
- 60 heat bed temp
- 205 extruder temp
- significantly improved results. 0.17 at 23mm/s centred around good results chosen as best.
- extrusion temperature vs printing speed test
- using values on the spool of PLA 190-220
- using suggested 30-70mm/s
- track height 0.15 (as shown in video)
- other settings left default
- commented out line 10 which is the second bed leveling
- edited end of test routine added suffix W to g28
- edited end footer bed temp to 0 instead of 20 and commented out g28
- filament jammed during the pause from 190 to 195. my guess the temp was too low
- i have found in the past the temp guides on the rolls of filament are lower than what i find usable
- attempting again with increased temps and speeds
- 205-235 temperature range
- 30-90 mm/s
- 0.15 track height
- test completed successfully. cannot visually discern a difference between any of tests
- under closer inspection near a lamp top right looked a little better than the bottom left
- 30mm/s 205c chosen as best
- retraction distance test using default values
- prusa slicers default retraction settings are significantly lower 0.8mm at 35mm/s
- filament continued to jam here at various temperatures.
