- Bias: even when giving a nuanced picture of something, in entertainment, there is bias in what themes are to be explored (or deconstructed if the interest in it is negative). Many dont seem to get this I find, they think entertainers pick these themes for no real reason. Either because these themes should obviously be explored to the exclusion of others or it was just random and arbitrary.
- If an industry makes award-caliber pictures about soldiers or transsexuals, we know what they're interested in, as one example. Awards and acclaim matter especially since they reflect what the industry wants to see. Obviously there will be a spectrum, and this will vary among different roles (consumers vs insiders for instance) and how people respond to these incentives but still detectable. What is interesting is the aforementioned divide in values among consumers and insiders, because giving consumers challenging, artistic, creative, or well-made pictures which resonate with their values would yield more money but if that isnt where the creative powerhouse's invest their energy... While they do respond to those incentives they also make award calibre flicks almost nobody sees because there is 0 resonance
