  1. Lemy and Lana were in the garage house basement, adjusting one of the wall clocks.
  2. "Easy does it!"
  3. Lemy started to rotate the screwdriver.
  4. "Now...a bit counter-clockwise...and is that enough?"
  5. "Yup! Time to test! Hope it’ll work!"
  6.
  7. Lemy started the clock again. And indeed, the hands of the clock started to move significantly faster than usual.
  8. "Good lob, Lem!"
  9. "Bet it’s accurate?"
  10. "Accurate? Nah. But accurate enough. At least I hope."
  11. "We can always fix it later."
  12.
  13. After some more minor adjustments, they measured how fast the clock was ticking again.
  14. Lemy measured time by ear and came to a conclusion.
  15. "It’s good...enough!"
  16. "If Luan was here, she’d make a pun about overclocking," said Lana.
  17. "You’d think?"
  18.
  19. While Lemy and Lana were adjusting the clock, Lacy was outside, playing tennis against a wall. She stopped to take a quick look at the hills. They seemed very inviting to her.
  20.
  21. "Umm...Mom?" she asked Lynn Junior who was also outside, doing push-ups.
  22. "Yes, Sunshine?"
  23. "I wanna go to the hills today! Can I go?". She pointed her finger at the hills and its outcrops.
  24. Lynn looked at the hills and said:
  25. "Hmmm...Okay! But only I’ll go with you."
  26. "Thanks, mom!"
  27. After a brief pause, Lacy announced:
  28. "Hey! Anyone wants to come to the hills with me?"
  29. "Me! Me! Me!" Lizy said, raising her hand.
  30. "I’ll come!" came an answer from Luna.
  31. "I’ll go!" came an answer from the roof terrace.
  32. "Lola?"
  33. "Never thought you’d want to go."
  34. "I’m just...curious about what’s there."
  35.
  36. "Leni?" asked Luna who saw Leni coming out of the front door. "wanna come as well?"
  37. "Oh, hi! Umm...Where?"
  38. "To the hills!"
  39. "Yea!" said Lacy. "We can go and forage stuff! Foraging is...umm...like shopping except everything’s free!"
  40. A smile on Leni’s face went wider.
  41. "Of course I’ll go! Wait here!" Leni disappeared into a house.
  42. "Anybody else?"
  43. Nobody else wanted to go at that moment. Leni emerged from the house with multiple shopping bags.
  44.
  45. "So...Let’s go! I lead the way!" announced Lacy.
  46. The group started their journey. The first obstacle that got in the way was, of course, the river.
  47. "If there was only a bridge." regretted Lola.
  48. "Since when has anyone built a bridge on this planet?"
  49. "Oh well. We’ll cross that bridge when we build it!" replied Luna.
  50. Lacy dipped her hand in the water to check the temperature.
  51. "Just a bit wet! Okay, here I go!"
  52. Lacy took the first step into the flowing water. She continued slowly, one step at the time.
  53. "Is it warm...?" asked Leni.
  54. Lacy gave her thumb up, nodded and said "Yes!"
  55.
  56. She continued with water reaching her waistline.
  57. "Hey! Look, Lynn! Lacy is going to be the first to cross the river!" teased Lola.
  58. "You..."
  59. Before Lacy could realize, Lynn Junior had already entered the water and waded past her. A few seconds later she was at the other bank of a five-meter wide river.
  60.
  61. "Ha! Beat you all!"
  62. "Yup. That’s Lynn for ya!" commented Luna. "Hey, Lynn!"
  63. Lynn, after a quick celebration, asked: "What is it, slowpoke?"
  64. "Lizy wants to get to the other side! Right, Lizy?"
  65. "Yes!" came an answer from Lizy. Meanwhile, Lacy had reached the other side of the river as well.
  66. "The water is too deep for her and you happen to be just in tip-top shape to carry her." continued Lola.
  67. Lynn sighed.
  68. "Alright!"
  69. She waded back to the other side.
  70. "Okay, Liz! Hop on!"
  71. Lizy tried to jump but she couldn’t jump high enough. After some laughs, Lynn lifted her on her shoulders and ran across until they reached Lacy again. Lizy was a bit scared while Lynn was running as the water was too deep for her.
  72.
  73. "And that’s how it’s done, Lacy!"
  74. "Umm...can you give Leni a lift as well?" asked Lola.
  75. "What am I going to do with an elevator?" asked Leni.
  76. "Leni’s an adult! She can hold her own," replied Lynn, ignoring Leni.
  77. Lynn sighed and was silent for a moment as she was coming to a decision.
  78. "I’ve carried Lemy across wider rivers!" said Lacy.
  79. "Oh well. More training for me. Lacy, watch over Lizy!"
  80. Lynn ran back through the river.
  81.
  82. "Okay, Leni! Hold on!"
  83. Lynn gave Leni a lift. Slightly lower gravity of the planet made her job easier.
  84. "Yup. You’re light as a...brick."
  85. "Light as a brick? That’s the weirdest comment I haven’t heard!" remarked Luna.
  86. Lynn tried to explain herself.
  87. "I mean,...err...everyone can lift a brick! That’s what I wanted to say!"
  88. Leni was pleased about the free ride. "Umm...thanks, Lynn"
  89. "Anyway, let’s just go!", tried Lynn to divert the conversation and walked through the river carrying Leni, the fireman style.
  90.
  91. Now Lola was a bit anxious.
  92. "Hey! Me too! Can you give a proper lady a carry?"
  93. "A proper lady can handle herself!" said Lynn Junior. "You have to wade there on your own."
  94. "Grr."
  95. While that was happening, Luna started crossed the river.
  96. "Come on, Lola! Think about it! There could be...gold deposits on hills!"
  97. Lola sighed as she started crossing the river. She obviously did not like it very much. Lola regretted not changing her gown into something more suitable for exploration.
  98.
  99. Once the group had crossed the river, they started going towards the multicolored hills. Along the way, Leni found plants with berries on them. She immediately started filling her bags with them.
  100. "This one is good! No! This one better! No. This one! I’m in shopping heaven!"
  101. Her shopping bags quickly filled up with various space plants.
  102. Despite Leni stopping frequently to fill her bags, they quickly reached the foot of one of the hills. The closest hill was only three blocks away from their home after all.
  103. Leni looked back at their home. "We can see our house. Good!"
  104. Leni waved towards the house. Albert, who was sitting in the front garden, waved back. Despite his age, his eyesight was still good.
  105. Luna examined at the hills more closely. Some of the rocks looked metallic and hills, in general, had less vegetation than either the meadows or the forest.
  106. "Yup. That’s definitely...metal!" said Luna as she tapped on one of the outcrops.
  107. "Iron? Copper?" She looked at the brownish and turquoise parts.
  108. "Molybdenum?" guessed Lynn, taking a closer look at metals.
  109. "How do you know what molybdenum is?" asked Luna.
  110. "Part of a healthy breakfast! Wanna know the other microelements?"
  111. "No." came an answer from Lola.
  112.
  113. Luna noticed that some of the rocks seemed to be yellowish.
  114. "Let’s check that thing out." Luna pointed out one of the possible paths up the hill towards said rocks.
  115.
  116. The group scaled the hill. Lacy gave Lizy a piggyback ride on the way. After a minute of climbing, they reached their destination: A yellow-ish shiny outcrop with the size of a bowling ball.
  117. "Gold?"
  118. Lola instantly ran to it tried to grab it.
  119. "Nggggh!"
  120. She kept pulling it but it was stuck.
  121. "Typical Lola."
  122. Lynn Junior tried to calm her down.
  123. "We’ll get this another time!"
  124. Lola let the golden rock go and sighed.
  125. "Sorry. I don’t know what got into me."
  126.
  127. "When we build a bridge, we bring some of the gold back, right?" asked Lola hopefully.
  128. Lacy giggled a bit. "You’re still the same old self."
  129. "And exactly what we can use the gold for?" asked Luna.
  130. "Crowns!"
  131. "And..."
  132. "Umm...other jewelry?"
  133. "And who’s going to make jewelry?" asked Luna again.
  134. "Umm...Lisa Ex Machina?"
  135. "Like always. Can’t expect her to do everything!"
  136.
  137. They wandered around for five more minutes, taking in the sights.
  138.
  139. "Alright. We’ve seen enough!" decided Lola.
  140. Lacy didn’t want to go back yet.
  141. "No! Let’s keep going!"
  142. Lola disagreed with Lacy. "We’ve barely been a day on this planet. We can always come back later. With a...drill...or something."
  143. "Wait a minute...just a day? You mean, an Earth day?"
  144. Only now the group realized how fast the days go by on this planet.
  145.
  146. "And it could get raining again," added Lola, pointing towards the sky. It was mostly cloudy with suns occasionally showing themselves.
  147. "We went through the river! What more could rain do?"
  148. "Good point!" agreed Luna.
  149. They hung around the hills for a few more minutes until they still decided it was enough. With the first trip to the hills complete, the group headed towards the back home. Leni’s hands were occupied with bags filled with plants. Lola and others couldn’t wait to return home and dry themselves up.
  150.
  151. (at this point, the I run out of inspiration and the story ended prematurely)
  152.
  153. How could I have continued it?
  154.
  155. Basically, aside from shenanigans on the planet, aside family living the dream:
  156. 1. Lincoln showing an illustration of a map of local surroundings.
  157. 2. Lisa trying to teleport something from Earth to the planet. The test is successful.
  158. 3. Gradually, more and more of their surroundings is explored and the family starts naming the alien species. And celestial bodies.
  159. 4. The family starts teleporting people (they dislike and are powerful) on Earth to nowhere (or just an unpleasant planet) while a note "If anyone like them wants to take their place, they will suffer the same fate. Be different. You have been warned."
  160. 5. After that’s done, the family makes direct contact with Earth again but decides to remain on their new location. They celebrate.
  161.
  162. As you can see, it was too ambitious for me to write. Sorry.
