Turning the chill around her into ice, and turning that ice into a weapon... it couldn't be that hard, right? She made it up as she went along for even learning ice magic to begin with, so maybe this would be similarly easy. Ice magic was a lot more clear-cut than this, however, because constantly creating icicles around her constantly would take far, far too much effort to be worthwhile. Whatever she did had to be passive rather than active, the weaponization of her frost a natural result or whatever kind of magic she cast.

Astelle lost herself in thought, like she usually was, but it was directed and focused rather than... daydreamy; something that her ice magic helped her with tremendously.

Her thought eventually bore fruit. It took her a while, sure, but she finally came up with an idea. As always, when she prepared for battle, she exhaled a frozen mist that enveloped her body, causing small bits of snow and frost to form wherever she went. But the key word was small; it was easy to deal with, easy to walk through, and couldn't serve as more than a mild distraction, at best. All of the ice and snow put together couldn't do much more than form a small ice cube.

She needed something more.

At first, Astelle decided to try manually generating ice around her, forming a torrent of icicles around her body. But it was as she thought; this was by no means practical. It really did have to be something natural and passive. She couldn't afford to put this kind of focus and energy into something when she could be using it on the fight at hand.

Ice was so easy to learn; she had a 'brilliant' idea for that! But as far as specific applications of it went...?

That really did take more than just a passing thought.

Another idea came to her. It was a weird idea, sure, but Astelle was never one to not be weird. Snow was something that occurred naturally, right? As weird and difficult as it may be, maybe the best options was to cause it to happen naturally around her.

This idea didn't make any sense, but was Astelle known for making sense?

Astelle inhaled deeply, and exhaled a large amount of cold mist from her body into the skies above. The mist coalesced together into a cloud, just as Astelle wanted, but she otherwise didn't know where to take it from here. She really wasn't one for science; maybe she should've done her research before trying this.

She sat down, crossed her legs, folded her arms, and sighed, before noticing a single drop of snow land on her forehead from the cloud she created.

"Oh."
