Drinks Together, Stays Together [Luna][Lori]

Lori pulls up in her car to the bar, a beat up blue Celica. She has been making some good money now, after a few well deserved promotions. But the thought never really developed that she could buy something nicer, it was dependable and comfortable; that was enough.

Lori smokes a cigarette, quietly, by herself.  She rolls down her window and blows out the smoke, the biting cold leaches in and nibbles at her nose. Enough putting off the inevitable, she figures as she tosses the butt out the window. She gets out of the car, locks it behind her, and heads in.

“Seat taken?” Lori says as she walks up behind her sister, Luna.

“Nah, go right ah- LORI!” Luna says she looks over her shoulder, then spins herself around, and wraps her arms around her sister. “Thanks for coming.”

“Well, I don’t get to see you all the time. I thought it was a good idea, have a beer with my rock star sister.” Lori says as she sheds the hug and takes a seat.

She catches the bartenders attention and waves him over. Lori takes a look around and it is your typical wooden floor, hole-in-the-wall bar. It even has a jukebox in the corner currently rocking-n-rolling to a certain rock diva; how unexpected.

“Can I get a beer?” Lori says and the bartender nods his bald head and walks off. “So-“

“Booo! Boo! At least make that a boilermaker, sis.” Luna says as tries to get the bartender back. Then she resumes booing.

“Luna- Luna, no. I don’t want to get drunk. It’s been a while since I hung out with you, I want to remember it.” Lori half-laughs but her tone is serious.

“Remembering is overrated, sis.” Luna says before downing her drink, neat whiskey. She wipes her mouth with her wrist. “Welp, I guess that means I have to drink for both of us.”

“Really? You’re gonna do this?” Lori groans. “I just wanted to have a drink OR TWO with my sister.”

The bartender places a pint of a domestic lager on the bar, in front of Lori.

“Sorry, Lors. You made a choice and I-“ Luna begins before Lori interrupts.

“Fine! Fine, sir, make this a boilermaker, please. Jameson.” The man nods wordless as he pulls a bottle from the bar and reaches for a shot glass. “Are you happy?”

“I will once you down that sucker, Lori. Woo!” Luna shouts.

Lori smiles, maybe this will be fun.

Another round of boilermakers. Two shots of Jameson. Now the two of them have settled into a nice tipsiness while sipping on whiskey sours.

“-And, and then, I look at him and say ‘I thought you said you were gonna pull out’ and he goes all red. ‘Oh. You felt too good, Luns’ he says. So, that’s how Lemy happened.” Luna finishes her story with her hand on her cheek.

“O. M. G. That is literally how he is, right?” Lori takes another sip. “H-he’s that same kid, acting like he’s this level headed pillar of the family and then ‘whoops, the condom slipped’.”

“Hahaha, exactly, exactly. He’s such a goofy little guy. But I still love him.” Luna says as she finishes her drink.

“Well, duh, I mean, early adopter, right here.” Lori leans over her drink grinning. “Why’d you ask me out, anyways? Aren’t you and Luan close? I could call her, get her down here, get her caught up.”

“No, no. Just wanted some time with my oldest sis.” Luan waves her hands in front of her defensively.

“Okay, what’s going on?” Lori says. “Let me be that big sis.”

“Well, Luan and Lucy are kind of pissed at me. They think I got knocked up to steal their thunder or whatever. It just sucks cuz we shouldn’t be tearing down each other like that.” Luna calls over the bartender and orders an round.

“That is harsh. I mean, I didn’t bring up when Lyra was born like 9 months after Loan.” Lori downs her drink.

“What the fuck, Lori!? I told you I-“ Luna begins.

“I DiDn’T bring it up! Okay? Okay? I love you. Lyra is a beautiful girl and Lemy is a sweet baby. They’ll calm down.” Lori explains.

“...Leni is pregnant again. And we’re all quiet about that.” Luna says into her drink.

“Quiet? I’m planning the shower. Think you’ll make it?” Lori asks as she takes her fresh drink.

“Probably, need to get back in the studio soon and gear up for another tour, but I probably won’t be on the road until then.” Luna counts on her fingers, trying figure how far out another tour might be.

“I get it. But, yeah, they’ll come around. And if not, I will go bust some heads.” Lori playfully punches her mitt.

“Thanks, Lors.” Luns smiles.

“What’re big sisters for?”

“What do you think about the twins?” Luna says taking a drink.

“Don’t remind me. Lola is never gonna shut up about Linc’s dick and if she gets knocked up? Forget about it. I’d rather jump off a cliff than deal with her then.” She laughs.

“I’m more concerned with Lana. Lola hates to share, but Lana... remember when she broke the shower because Lola was trying to rush her and then refused to fix it? Well, there’s getting to be a long line for the Log-“ Lori interrupts.

“I hate that nickname.”

“Me too, but it stuck, didn’t it?” Luna makes some finger guns.

“Y’know it did!” Lori makes some back. “Fucking Luan.” She relaxes.

“Heh, nice. But there’s a line and I don’t think Lana will want to wait her turn.” Luna wags her finger.

“Welcome to the sorority, where it’s never your turn or he’s got a headache.” Lori says, remembering the times that it had happened to her and her sisters.

“Such a shitty excuse, right?” Luna groans.

“Right.” Lori gets a broad smile. “Wanna call him up and see if we can get a double feature?”

“That’s kind of weird.” Luna shifts in her seat.

“I thought you were supposed to be bi.” Lori jokes.

“Yeah, but you’re my-“ Luna stops mid-sentence. “Yeah, I’m hearing myself, and I hear it. Yeah, let’s try this out.”
