- I was once a warrior. I fought for the glorious Alternian army as one of her many airscouts - her eyes in the sky. But I loved a woman above me more than I loved the army's destruction. She beckoned and I, fool I am - I followed.
- I am my lady's Sentinel, and these are my stories.
- Let us clear one thing now: my lady does not pity me. She never will. Her heart belongs to another - a raggedy redblood who barged his way into the gang. Oh, does my scorn show through the page? Let it show. She deserves better! Better than a rustblood who doesn't even belong. We fought together in the wars of our world...
- Oh, but bitterness is an acrid taste. I have no need to go on about my lady's choices, no matter how I view them. Instead I will speak of our most recent conquest.
- It was a train heist. I was the first out, camouflaged in the colours of the sky, circling our prey. A sharp, soundless whistle sent the glowgrubs the message, and from there all our merry men descended. I supported them from the air, while they made off with the indigo's riches. I met with my brothers later, at our rendevous, and learnt it was a complete success. We lost no one; no one was hurt.
- Such is our skill. Yet not all missions are like this. Sometimes there are losses. I mourn them all - silently.
- Today I relax in my tent, my brothers beside me, writing this before I sleep. My lady is pleased by this heist, I can tell. She is glad to see our complete success, and glad for the riches it brings. Her felicity warms me. If only I could bring her happiness in the same way...
- But Pilferer Riskshot is happy, no matter what brought that happiness to her. That is the important thing.
