  1. GOOD END (holy crap I forgot about this for a week but it's fine cuz I had an idea) from [this part](https://www.reddit.com/r/Frieren/comments/1bzw9z8/dont_led_your_guard_downnon20non22/kyvt5v6/)
  2.
  3. Land's quizzical look returned. "Yes?"
  4.
  5. Ubel chuckled harder, pointed at Shax, and said: "He just called us 'snivelling whelps'..."
  6.
  7. "That he did."
  8.
  9. "What are we gonna do about it?"
  10.
  11. "Hold him down with clones and feed him his own internal organs?"
  12.
  13. This was as good an answer as Ubel is going to get at this point in time. "Yaaaaaay."
  14.
  15. And just as soon as the two sidled up together, they were gone. At least Ubel was.
  16.
  17. Again, she lunged forward. *I'm glad I learned from Laufen last time*, she thought, as her staff extended by almost a furlong. Shax blocked the shaft, but the blade still struck his cheek.
  18.
  19. Land stood his ground, defending both himself and Ubel while she launched in a flurry of activity. The flails bounced off the Treiben-empowered hexagonal projections, dealing no harm and reducing the objects Ubel needed to take note.
  20.
  21. For her part, Ubel intensified the cuts, weaving and bobbing the whole way. Most of those cuts were meant to wound Shax's hindquarters -- as usual, they barely open his hide -- but the rest were directed at the buildings that continued to crumble. And she's begun to mix in more of Laufen's magic into the staff, pulling back before whipping it to keep up with the whipswords.
  22.
  23. Shax remained implacable. Her companion had yet to move, after all, and it was clear to him that the boy is little more than a supporting sentry-mage for the assassin-mage dancing to his music. *But I know he hides something.*
  24.
  25. Thus both flail-heads boomed and screamed towards Land...only to recurve as it hit air. "No matter. I have deduced your magic now!"
  26.
  27. Yet Land cared little. The two other clones simply disappeared into the ether, same as before. The flail-heads sought specific mana signatures, yet they were gone on impact.
  28.
  29. Except for one.
  30.
  31. But Land deflected it in time, lengthening the impact time just enough to bruise. The recoil came quickly, however, and that hit knocked a rib clean off his sternum. It also sent him a few yards to the former church's wall.
  32.
  33. *Can't pull from that well anymore, then,* Land thought. He caught Shax's glare upon him. For a hundredth of a second, he was intimidated.
  34.
  35. The next hundredth, however, he finally saw it. And could only chuckle. "So you, too, have something to hide."
