  1. Vergil activated his Devil Trigger. He flew up and Pushed Sam down into the Qliphoth. Its stony bark cratered beneath the sheer force. Vergil flew down. Sam was prone. He was defenseless. He unleashed a myriad of cuts into him. And those cuts kept cutting, even when Vergil did not swing. Vergil landed. He could still hear the sounds of the Devil Sword Vergil slicing through Sam’s armor, through flesh and bone. Without a doubt, it was over.
  2.
  3. A dark hand emerged from the crater. And Sam pulled himself out. He was bloodied and injured. But he was not dead.
  4.
  5. “How?” said Vergil.
  6.
  7. A black material solidified on his skin. “Nanomachines, Vergil. Nanomachines.”
  8.
  9. Vergil grit his teeth. He burned the iron and Pulled Sam towards him again. He held the Metal Bat in hand. Sam flew towards him at the speed of a fastball. He’d fly away at that speed too.
  10.
  11. Vergil skipped ahead through time to ensure Sam could not react. He slammed the Metal Bat against Sam’s chest and sent him flying overhead. He crashed against a high rocky outcropping of the Qliphoth and crushed it to dust. Vergil closed in again. He switched to his gauntlets.
  12.
  13. Vergil delivered a single punch, only for Sam to collide with it. The force of the collision sent a loud BOOM throughout the Qliphoth.
  14.
  15. “How…” said Vergil. “After I’ve spent all this time searching for power, while you’ve done nothing. How can you match me?”
  16.
  17. Sam grinned a shit-eating grin. “I guess I’ve always just been that good.”
  18.
  19. Vergil took a step back. He summoned both his doppelgangers and gave them the Broly Drums. As powerful waves of sound smashed against Sam and pushed him back further. He was on the edge of the Qliphoth. With a final SMASH the doppelgangers slammed on the drums and pushed Sam over the edge. Let him fall to his death.
  20.
  21. Sam then proceeded to summon a platform of locusts. Vergil Pulled the platform to him to make Sam fall off, only for the locusts to swarm his face. He swatted them away.
  22.
  23. “Give up, Vergil!” said Sam. “The fight’s not worth it! You have enough power!”
  24.
  25. Vergil brought his blade in and out of its saya. Judgment Cuts chased Sam across the Qliphoth, but he was too fast. Sam was sturdy. But Vergil had done far more damage to Sam than Sam did to him. It was going to be a battle of attrition. But Vergil was patient. A Son of Sparda is patient. He concentrated. He waits for precisely the right moment… to strike!
  26.
  27. Vergil held out his hand and Pushed one last time on Sam. He pressed Sam against a rock formation. He applied just enough force to crack the stone and keep him stuck. But he would not break the rock. He needed Sam to stay still.
  28.
  29. Vergil reached for his sword with his free hand. The air around him was distorted. The Judgement Cut End, to put a stop to all of this. Sam fired blade after blade from his scabbard and they collided against Vergil. But he did not care. A Son of Sparda maintains his concentration. A Son of Sparda finishes his fights. A Son of Sparda does not lose to someone like this!
