We are a filler episode

We aren't struggling against anything anymore. There is no more global argument about how we should organize ourselves.
We are just wasting time, frustrated, stagnant, repeating the same struggles over and over. We are politically and culturally masterbating. We consume the same songs and the same movies we've been consuming since the 70s. There hasn't been a truly new cultural product since Nirvana, and that wasn't even really new. Religion is dead. Politics is tribalism, not a dialogue about human flourishing. I wonder if we're in a wasted moment in history. Like a filler episode of a TV show that sits between episodes where the plot actually develops.  B. Rice 2025
