  1.
  2. >You want love.
  3. >You don't actually want to *be* loved.
  4. >But you crave it all the same. You need it.
  5. >You've cloaked yourself with the veil of desire to siphon the selfless burn of longing and loyalty from those foolish enough to dive into the condemning abyss of love.
  6. >And you let them drown in it.
  7. >And you become satisfied in their self-inflicted agony that they are convinced is happiness. They would swim deeper and deeper into your simplistic trap, even as they clawed at their throats for the merest gasp of air.
  8. >It was so very fulfilling.
  9. >But today you find something new.
  10. >You've stalked through towns, stealing whisps of attraction and sips of lusts from passerbys.
  11. >It's not as glamorous as drinking deeply from a white stallion in Equestria's capital, but these were trying times.
  12. >As you make your rounds, something new catches your eye.
  13. >Something moving behind a window of a quiet neighborhood.
  14. >There is some manner of creature inside. A hairless thing on two legs.
  15. >Strange...
  16. >You sense something...a wellspring of love unlike anything you've seen in this quiet town.
  17. >You approach the window.
  18. >He is in a kitchen. Striding to and fro, cleaning pots and pans.
  19. "Almost ready." You hear him say.
  20. >He opens the oven.
  21. >And you feel love burst forth and wash over you. Hot and unrelenting.
  22. >You nearly cry out, but he shuts the oven door, blocking the otherwise overhwelming force.
  23. >You are momentarily frozen. Your massive emerald eyes quiver in ecstasy. Your body is shaking and your heart feels cold all of a sudden.
  24. >So...pure.
  25. >What in your royal name was in that oven?
  26. >You place a nervous hoof onto the windowsill and bring your face closer the glass. You move the weblike strands of teal hair from your face.
  27. >A voice calls from upstairs. Some female. Probably not nearly as attractive as you. You pay little attention to her words, the the two-legged thing is enraptured by them.
  28. >He calls back.
  29. >You feel the love sparking from him. You can see it. White embers that fly off his body and dance in the air before settling to the ground and blinking out.
  30. >Your stomach rumbles. You hunger.
  31. >A timer goes off. He moves towards the oven, opens it and pulls out a pan.
  32. >Once again you are overcome by a warmth that you didn't even know could exist.
  33. >Your ears jerk and you have to stop yourself from licking the window. You want it and you want it bad.
  34. >The creature calls out again and walks out of the kitchen.
  35. >Now's your chance.
  36. >You focus a small fraction of your magic and teleport into the kitchen.
  37. >And you immediately fall to your knees and whimper from the all-encomposing love that's in the room.
  38. >You lie there for a moment, basking in such glory.
  39. >Your vision is being overridden by the love's ambient energy. The entire room is painted in warm golds and reds.
  40. >You look at your forelegs. Slow smokey violet waves brush against your ebony skin. Blue puffs of vapor float through the holes in your hooves.
  41. >It's like being embraced with airy velvet.
  42. >You close your eyes and bite your lip with sharp teeth. A little cry sneaks out from your mouth.
  43. >Your thighs are shaking.
  44. >You're going to find out what is on that pan and make it yours.
  45. >You force yourself onto all fours and walk dazily to the stovetop.
  46. >The pan is awash with bright white light. You have trouble staring at it. It's positively burning .
  47. >You squint your eyes.
  48. >Oh tartarus.
  49. >There are heart shaped cookies on the pan.
  50. >You would facehoof if you weren't busy crying from the mixture of amazement and the tension from your nether regions.
  51. >You lick your lips.
  52. >You were hungry.
  53. >You would take this slow. You were going to savor this. This was the rarest delicacy and should be enjoyed as su-
  54. >You attack the pan like an animal.
  55. >Fangs pierce the largest cookie, still soft, still hot, and you raise your head.
  56. >Your hooves shove the thing into your mouth and you gnash and chomp viciously.
  57. >Words. There are no words.
  58. >It's like your eating pure fire. Hot, bright and uncompromising.
  59. >Fire and sugar.
  60. >You haven't eaten this well in living memory. As it slides down your throat you wonder if you might burn from the inside out.
  61. >Even if you did it was worth it.
  62. >You eat the next cookie.
  63. >And the next.
  64. >And the next.
  65. >You're crying now. It's beautiful. You can see their energies flowing out from you. As you breath, golden smoke waves in twisting streams.
  66. >There is only one cookie before long.
  67. >You move to consume it, but then you realize...
  68. >You are full.
  69. >You stare at the cookie in confusion.
  70. >You've never been full before.
  71. >"Um."
  72. >This is alien. You don't want anymore. You don't need to steal, for the moment.
  73. >Is this what they call being content?
  74. >You sit down on your haunches. You poke at your belly.
  75. >You touch your face and wipe the tears from your eyes and take a moment to catch your breath.
  76. >Had you been starving this entire time and not even realize it?
  77. >Would you ever feel this...this good again?
  78. >You're afraid of the answer.
  79. >What did he put in those cookies?
  80. >You heard a noise.
  81. >There's a flash of green light and you're gone.
  82. >The creature makes a commotion. Obviously frightened that something just broke into his house and stole all his cookies and nothing else.
  83. >You would feel bad if you didn't feel so damn good.
  84. >All that...THAT...happiness?
  85. >Would you call it that?
  86. >Of course not. Happiness was a foal's dream.
  87. >But whatever it was, you wanted more.
  88. >You looked through the window.
  89. >The creature stood there for a few moments and then shrugged.
  90. >He pulled out flour, sugar, cinnamon...
  91. >And started to make more cookies.
  92. >You wanted him.
  93. >...
  94. >and maybe a glass of milk.
