51. A French journalist in Afghanistan is kidnapped by the Taliban.
 52. In Afghanistan, French journalist Elsa and her colleague Amen are covering the story of Maina, a woman sold to a man when she was a child. Taliban leader Ahmed Zaief abducts Elsa and Amen and tries to force them to read a message to Western governments. The French president sends six Special Force to rescue Elsa who's hidden in a fortress in Pakistan. The team composed of Commander Kovax, Tic-Tac, Lucas, the sniper Elias, Victor and Marius release Elsa and Amen from their imprisonment but lose their radios. Now the group needs to cross the inhospitable land to save their lives with the Taliban chasing them.
 53. Without going into a plot summary, others have done that, it is almost impossible to list the things wrong - in a technical sense - with this movie. None of the characters who play soldiers have a clue about basic combat, they fire standing and grouped together, ignoring available cover. They abseil slowly, one at a time, from a chopper in a situation where there would have been less risk to the men and the aircraft if it landed to disembark them. The story might be fine for those who do not have a military background or training, but for me it was almost a comedy. They had an initial pick-up point a ludicrous distance from the operation, considering that right from the start they were expected to be transporting possibly wounded civilians. Not one part of the story was likely or plausible to me. It was the sort of thing you could imagine being dreamed up by a teenage girl whose sole experience was based on comic books. Very disappointing.
 54. SPOILER ALERT I agree with the many reviewers who found it inconsistent and unbelievable. Not just the military shooting scenes but the whole idea that the French were not looking for their team (just lolling about back in Kabul waiting to see if they made it) and the team leader was stupid enough to try and cross the Hindu Kush (while Al Queda just drove around it and laid in wait).

Too long. Too tiring. By the end I just waited to see if they made any sort of conclusion and if anyone lived through it.

The day after I watched it, I woke up with only one question: Where was this movie filmed? I was grateful to IMDb for providing that information. (Clearly it wasn't filmed in Afghanistan, but the scenery was definitely a character in the movie.) I enjoyed googling the locations and taking a look.

The other other thought remaining to me was that villagers in A'stan are at the mercy of all these killers (I liked that the team went back to the village but it was not realistic) and that the women of A'stan are braver than the killers who slaughter them. I've long thought that about the women of Afghanistan though. They are survivors and they are courageous. Last thought: The movie depicts murderous intent better than special ops.
 55. This tale of an elite military unit assigned to rescue a war correspondent kidnapped by the Taliban is as frenetic and ultimately mind-numbing as a "Call of Duty" videogame, only without the thematic depth.
 56. The FA-MAS is not used as it's flexibility is not met by the Special Operations requirements. The French army is at the moment ( been so for a few years actually) undergoing try outs for a new service rifle and the ideal platform to test anything rigorously is the SF branch. In the movie you see a wide array of weapons with many permutations. All fitting NATO's standards, that's where a main problem with the FAMAS showed and hence the lack of presence... The FAMAS uses a 25 rounds non-standard NATO magazine, which means it cannot be fitted on an other weapon used by NATO forces. The FAMAS G2 on the other hand ( the Navy version) fixed that but was never adopted by the Army. What you get is a display of M4-727, MP5's, HK 416 (current contender), G36K(current contender), Beretta ARX-160(current contender), FR-2, FPK and so on. It's a very up to date line-up and realistic one. a5c7b9f00b
