The monsters wrestled, then separated, wrestled, then separated again,
then kept repeating this over and over. Their howling was tremendous. But
were there limits to a kaiju’s strength? Perhaps so. There was a moment
when it looked like Anguirus was beginning to lose his strength, and
Godzilla suddenly pulled away. With his tremendous, powerful tail—
whack!—Godzilla delivered a single hard blow to his opponent’s neck.
Anguirus bent forward, collapsing halfway to the ground. Godzilla seized
this opportunity to attack with his tail again, delivering one blow, then
another.
It looked like the end might have come for Anguirus. He seemed to have
lost the will to fight, and he let out a forlorn howl. Seeing this, Godzilla
lifted his gigantic body into the air, and putting all the force of his massive
body into his hind legs, he delivered a powerful kick to Anguirus’s chest—
Bam!
At precisely that moment, the two massive kaiju fell over, collapsing
onto the main keep of Osaka Castle. There was a terrible rumbling in the
earth as they fell. Crash! Kaboom!—The castle broke to pieces beneath
their weight, making another awful sound. In the blink of an eye, a monster
born of the hydrogen bomb had destroyed one of the most famous castles in
the world.
Anguirus rolled over once, then once more, and collapsed into the castle
moat. After that, there was no more movement.
