  15. Acronis Backup Service so I was wondering how better is the offering that I understand is part of Cloudlinux offering.
  16. As I understand Acronis is considerable more expensive than R1Soft right now but wondered the same a few days ago so subscribed to this thread!
  17.
  18. so this is based on Acronis?

  24. Just to clarify, we do not use cloudlinux's backup.
  25.
  26. We have our own backup servers and licenses from Acronis.
  27.
  28. Acronis is much much better than R1Soft especially when it comes to reliability, stability and performance. Really fast than R1Soft.

  34. We have the same setup and it works great. I have never used r1soft but saw all the complaints about it. You should have no issue with Acronis though. Even one of their speakers is a former FBI. I'd say Acronis can be trusted etc.
  35. @net does Acronis now work with DirectAdmin?

  53. I requested Acronis to add support for DA many months ago but did not think they would release it quick enough and it seems I was right about that. That was one of the reasons for not switching to DA.

  56. Building Plugins takes time...... As long as it's on the roadmap it would be useful to know.

  58. I know JetBackup are working on a backup solution anyway.
  59.
  60. for now there is the modmasters backup and the built in backup in DirectAdmin.

  62. What are Acronis fees per server? Do they charge differently based on OS and server type? (VPS/dedi)

  69. It is more expensive to go directly with Acronis likely because you get support from them which costs more. You may want to use one of their resellers instead. They do charge different pricing depending on the device etc.

  80. We are a web hosting provider with over 15000 customers however we found that using Acronis was the best - however whenever the kernel updated and acronis did not release their update in time our backups would fail on all our cPanel servers with a SNAPAPI error. We would contact CloudEvo who would contact Acronis and inform us that we need to manually build the kernel. Same issue you will find on many forum posts aswell.
  81.
  82. We went back to using Jetbackup which has no issues and we can just let it run and never worry about system admin team having to work on it each week.
  83.
  84. Maybe for your environment it may be fine. But if you have issues with snapapi reboot server and load an older kernel to get it to work.

  101. Yes, that is one of them. You can also check https://www.acronis.com/en-us/partners/locator/
  102.
  103. I never found the issue you mentioned SAHostKing. It has been working for several months without issue. We had to switch from JetBackup because it was too slow as it backups each file rather than blocks. Block-level backup is much faster. JetBackup has its uses, but not that good for lots of data or backing up many different servers at the same time. Of course, use whichever works best for you.

  106. Wow this thread grew a lot!
  107. BTW Has anybody had any success trying to contact jonesolutions.com recently?
  108. I wrote them amonth ago but never got a reply.
  109.
  110. btw, do you know if Acronis backup can be used to restore accounts to a different server in case the original server fails
  111. R1Soft allows that, but I believe Jetbackup doesn't
  112. I'd just like to clarify that JetBackup does allow you to restore accounts to a different server in several ways, the most convenient of which is through our Disaster Recovery feature. Please refer to our documentation for further information.
  113. You could also try ClusterLogics (formerly Bacula4Hosts). It's substantially cheaper for licenses.
  114. Edit:
  115. Their support is much more responsive than Acronis as well.
  116. Anything is better than R1Soft, since they were sold to Continuum, the product has become a dumpster fire. But with Acronis, the issue for me was, that with the cloud and hybrid models you have to really-really-really trust their promise, that they do not look at your customers data. And you have to resell that trust to the customer.
  117. Isn't there on-premises backup storage available?
  118.
  119. Also, have been talking with someone at Acronis about licensing and he mentioned that VMs are file level backed up, so then in that case there isn't difference between it and r1soft or jetbackup for performance of restores in a DR recovery / bare metal restore of the VM...?
  120. IIRC the hybrid version had on prem storage, but the user management, permission management etc was in the cloud still. That made me hesitant.
  121. R1Soft (Idera) had many bugs in the past years, Acronis is also a big company and keep make their software better.

  123. hmm, in which case access to agents and such "could" be possible if you go down that rabbit hole where at least with r1soft you can firewall off outside network connections if you are that high on data security.
